:00:18. > :00:20.This is Europe's largest public library, with nearly

:00:21. > :00:22.three million books inside, so it's the perfect venue to get

:00:23. > :00:25.Yesterday's top authors included Jeremy Strong and Jacqueline Wilson,

:00:26. > :00:35.who gave me a Newsround exclusive about her new book.

:00:36. > :00:39.I've just started writing a book about evacuees.

:00:40. > :00:45.But I've been talking to children and nearly all children in year five

:00:46. > :00:49.and six learn about evacuees and I did think how lovely it

:00:50. > :00:57.would be if this story could become a kind of series like Hetty Feather.

:00:58. > :01:01.I have a girl called Shirley and she has been evacuated with two

:01:02. > :01:05.boys that she doesn't like very much at the moment, one called Kevin

:01:06. > :01:09.They're all kids from London, they are sent out

:01:10. > :01:13.Little Archie has never been to the countryside and he's

:01:14. > :01:21.It is a Newsround exclusive and I think it's because it's

:01:22. > :01:25.so real in my head I can't constantly stop talking about it.

:01:26. > :01:30.I'm on chapter eight and my children have just arrived in this

:01:31. > :01:32.strange place, they don't know where they are,

:01:33. > :01:38.they don't like the look of the people they're billeted with,

:01:39. > :01:40.they're a bit scared, but they're going to have a great

:01:41. > :01:48.Well, it's not just Awesome Authors at Birmingham Library this weekend -

:01:49. > :01:51.loads of hit CBBC shows and stars are also here, like Wolfblood, CBBC

:01:52. > :01:56.It's all happening in pop-up tents outside in Centenary Square,

:01:57. > :02:10.Hello. It might be a few weeks until the football season kicks off but

:02:11. > :02:15.things are well and truly getting underway at the tent here. Kids have

:02:16. > :02:20.been coming to test out their football commentating skills but

:02:21. > :02:22.that is not all, they have been learning how to become sports

:02:23. > :02:29.writers. What have you been doing today? I have been going round

:02:30. > :02:34.everywhere and watched a couple of shows on the stage and got some

:02:35. > :02:44.autographs. Amazing. How have you found today? Today I have watched

:02:45. > :02:57.Hacker and I've done a news report on Harry Potter. You have done some

:02:58. > :03:02.commentating. In those computer bits, you have to commentate on any

:03:03. > :03:13.goal you want, I picked the Theo Walcott goal when it was headed and

:03:14. > :03:23.Iran and scored. -- and Theo Walcott ran and scored. I think Harry Potter

:03:24. > :03:34.would be really good because he trained everyone at Harcourt and he

:03:35. > :03:37.used to play credit -- Quidditch. This has got me in the mood for the

:03:38. > :03:41.new football season, but before that, on my head, son!

:03:42. > :03:43.Great header, Martin, but I wouldn't give up the day job!

:03:44. > :03:45.Now, as well as being Awesome Authors weekend,

:03:46. > :03:49.So we've been challenging celebs to guess some famous book

:03:50. > :04:17.I'm going to go for The Royal Bang That Blew Off The Trousers

:04:18. > :04:21.Of The Devil And Lost The Crown That Was Rescued By A Scientist.

:04:22. > :04:26.Man, peach, ladybird, spider, New York, I'm guessing.

:04:27. > :04:36.I was going to say James And The Giant Peach...

:04:37. > :04:39.Oh, my goodness, I got it right!

:04:40. > :04:45.Well, joining me now is another top author,

:04:46. > :04:52.On the topic of emojis, which one would you use

:04:53. > :05:03.I would see I am a smiley face which is also crying because there are

:05:04. > :05:05.lots of sad parts in my book but also lots of laugh out loud bits as

:05:06. > :05:06.well. What's the best bit

:05:07. > :05:16.about being an author? I can't believe it, every time I

:05:17. > :05:23.went into a book shop and so my book, did I write that? ! How long

:05:24. > :05:27.does it take to write a book? It took me six months to write the

:05:28. > :05:35.first draft and then a year to make it look like this. So 1.5 years.

:05:36. > :05:40.What inspired you to be an offer? I love being asked to this question. I

:05:41. > :05:44.am quite dyslexic so at school I was really bad at most subjects but what

:05:45. > :05:49.I was good at was telling stories and that was my superpower and

:05:50. > :05:55.that's why I wanted to become a writer. What are you looking forward

:05:56. > :05:56.to today? Reading my book out for the first time.

:05:57. > :05:59.Newsround's back right here, live from Birmingham Library again,
