:00:00. > :00:00.Hi, I'm Jenny with your Newsround update.

:00:07. > :00:10.Coming up. Scotland's shipbuilding heritage in Greenock...

:00:11. > :00:27.And the supersize squid that's causing a stir.

:00:28. > :00:30.There's just 24 hours before voters go to the polls to decide

:00:31. > :00:32.if Scotland will become independent from the rest of the UK.

:00:33. > :00:35.Both sides are trying to persuade people who haven't made up

:00:36. > :00:40.So as part of Newsround's road trip around Scotland to find out what

:00:41. > :00:43.people think about the big vote, Martin's been to historic Greenock -

:00:44. > :00:45.an industrial town by the Firth of Clyde -

:00:46. > :00:46.where shipbuilding's fallen dramatically.

:00:47. > :00:50.Martin went to find out what life is really like there.

:00:51. > :00:55.Shipbuilding has long been a part of Scottish history. It became

:00:56. > :01:00.important in the 19th century when steam power began to replace sail

:01:01. > :01:05.powered. Ships were made out of Ireland for people all around the

:01:06. > :01:09.world in Greenock. It is a town famous for the ship holding.

:01:10. > :01:15.Companies need ships to carry food and cloth to other countries. But

:01:16. > :01:21.during the 1960s and 1970s, ship building went into decline from

:01:22. > :01:22.during the 1960s and 1970s, ship competition -- through competition

:01:23. > :01:27.from other countries. Many people lost their jobs. Today some ships

:01:28. > :01:33.are still built here. I wanted to find out what it is like growing up

:01:34. > :01:37.in an area like this. So I came to meet some of the children. I play in

:01:38. > :01:42.the garden or go to my friends house, or play video games because

:01:43. > :01:47.that is not much I can do. We have a park at the end of the road. What do

:01:48. > :01:56.you think could be improved in the area you are from? Better looking

:01:57. > :02:02.buildings, because some of them have cracked bricks and look ugly. What

:02:03. > :02:09.about things to do? I would like a park nearby because there are only a

:02:10. > :02:14.couple of parks I can go to, but they are far away from my house.

:02:15. > :02:17.This area has seen a lot of changes over the years, but still plays a

:02:18. > :02:20.part in the ship building industry, but it can be a battle to keep

:02:21. > :02:26.part in the ship building industry, shipyards open, and one was almost

:02:27. > :02:29.closed last month. The future is still uncertain for areas like this.

:02:30. > :02:31.Well, with so little time left before the

:02:32. > :02:33.polling stations open, you sent in your questions about independence

:02:34. > :02:44.and we got our political reporter Chris Mason to answer them.

:02:45. > :02:52.What money would rattle around in your pocket? The yes campaign say it

:02:53. > :03:01.would still be pounds and pence, just as no. Others say that would

:03:02. > :03:02.not be possible, and Scotland could have its own currency or join the

:03:03. > :03:14.euro. And other controversial issue. This is a big question. There are

:03:15. > :03:21.the Olympic Games in a couple of years, and under which flag would

:03:22. > :03:29.Scotland's stars perform? It looks as if they could either perform for

:03:30. > :03:40.Team GB or team Scotland, because it is not easy to sort out a team in

:03:41. > :03:43.time. Uncertainty around that one. Those who want an independent

:03:44. > :03:48.Scotland say that the Queen would stay, and she would become the Queen

:03:49. > :03:50.of Scots, just as she is the Queen in England and Northern Ireland and

:03:51. > :03:55.Wales and many other countries around the world. There is an

:03:56. > :04:03.acceptance that if it is a yes vote, the Queen will stay. This one is

:04:04. > :04:09.ahead scratcher. I had no idea. I picked up my phone, phone some

:04:10. > :04:11.experts, they have no idea either. There is nothing in the rules to

:04:12. > :04:18.determine what would happen if there is an absolute dead heat.

:04:19. > :04:20.And you can see all the latest information about

:04:21. > :04:24.Now, look at this rare giant squid - it's female, has eight arms,

:04:25. > :04:30.it's over a meter long and weighs more than 55 stones.

:04:31. > :04:37.Now, experts in New Zealand are examining it, watched online

:04:38. > :04:41.They say its tentacles could have been twice

:04:42. > :04:46.And you can see all the results from the Champions League,

:04:47. > :04:51.including how Liverpool and Arsenal got on, on our website.

:04:52. > :04:55.Newsround is back right here in about half an hour.
