0:00:08 > 0:00:09Morning, I'm Ricky and this is Newsround.

0:00:09 > 0:00:14Loads to come this morning - the show is packed!

0:00:14 > 0:00:17One of the coldest walks to school in the world.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19An amazing underwater discovery.

0:00:19 > 0:00:26A flying machine with a difference.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35First though - if you're in Scotland or parts of Northern England,

0:00:35 > 0:00:40you may need to be extra careful on your way to school this morning.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43There's still some snow around.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45And gale force winds and heavy rain are affecting

0:00:45 > 0:00:48large parts of the UK - but weather conditions are getting

0:00:48 > 0:00:56a little better with things expected to calm down later this morning.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00If you're walking to school in the cold and wind this morning,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03spare a thought for the children who live in this Siberian village.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06While it's pretty nippy here in the UK here it's nothing

0:01:06 > 0:01:07compared to over there.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09The people who live in Oymyakon call it

0:01:09 > 0:01:10"the coldest village on earth".

0:01:10 > 0:01:17And they might just be right - this week temperatures there have

0:01:17 > 0:01:19dropped to minus 62.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21That's still a bit toastier than their record low -

0:01:21 > 0:01:23five years ago it dropped even further to minus 72.

0:01:23 > 0:01:32Brrrr!

0:01:33 > 0:01:34Next, bad news for tennis fans.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36British number one Johanna Konta suffered a shock defeat

0:01:36 > 0:01:38at the Australian Open.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40Johanna lost to world number 123 Bernarda Pera in

0:01:40 > 0:01:41the second round overnight.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44The American won in straight sets to claim her second win ever

0:01:44 > 0:01:45at a Grand Slam tournament.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48It a bit frustrating, but also, I am still taking

0:01:48 > 0:01:49good stuff from this.

0:01:49 > 0:01:57I don't feel by any means like it's a

0:01:57 > 0:01:58massive catastrophe.

0:01:58 > 0:02:04Obviously, I play every event to be there till

0:02:04 > 0:02:08the end, so I definitely don't want to be going home this early.

0:02:08 > 0:02:13In the FA Cup, Chelsea were pushed to extra time and penalties

0:02:13 > 0:02:16in their FA Cup third round replay at home to Norwich.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18It had finished 1-1 in normal time.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20But Antonio Conte's side eventually won the shoot-out 5-3.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22Eden Hazard scored the winning penalty after his side were reduced

0:02:22 > 0:02:24to nine men in extra time.

0:02:24 > 0:02:32Chelsea face Newcastle in the next round.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37The shock of the night though came at League One side Wigan.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39They thrashed Premier League side Bournemouth 3-0.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41It means they'll now face West Ham in the fourth round.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Now, from high in the sky to deep in the ocean.

0:02:44 > 0:02:45Fancy a dip?

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Well you might need to get your flippers on for this next one,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51and you'll definitely need to be able to hold your breath

0:02:51 > 0:02:52for a really long time.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55Because divers have made an exciting discovery in the sea off

0:02:55 > 0:02:56the coast of Mexico.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59Here's more.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01This isn't just any old underwater cave.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Oh no, this is the longest underwater cave in the world.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06A group of divers discovered it in Mexico and, it's

0:03:06 > 0:03:07over 200 miles long.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09That's the same distance from London to Paris.

0:03:09 > 0:03:17At the bottom of the cave, they found pots and relics

0:03:24 > 0:03:26belonging to Mayan people, who lived in Mexico over

0:03:26 > 0:03:27a thousand years ago.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30They hope this discovery will help them to understand more of what life

0:03:30 > 0:03:38was like for the Mayans.

0:03:44 > 0:03:53They were collecting water samples for a re-search project, but over

0:03:53 > 0:03:58the cause of the day some penguins checked out their work. Look at this

0:03:58 > 0:04:06cheeky one! If you are a fan of penguins, guess what Newsround has a

0:04:06 > 0:04:11great Penguin quiz.

0:04:11 > 0:04:18Now, did any of you have a bath last night or maybe this morning?

0:04:18 > 0:04:21Well, we bet you didn't do this - Don't try this at home!

0:04:21 > 0:04:23Bathtubs are just for bathing, right?

0:04:23 > 0:04:24Wrong!

0:04:24 > 0:04:26People have known to race them in the past, some more

0:04:26 > 0:04:27successfully than others.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30Oh dear, but now these brothers have made themselves a flying bath tub.

0:04:30 > 0:04:31Wait, what?

0:04:31 > 0:04:32Yes.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35You've heard me right, they have built themselves a flying bath tub.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38It uses the same technologies that drones used to get airborne,

0:04:38 > 0:04:40but obviously, propellers are a bit bigger to get this

0:04:40 > 0:04:41monstrosity off the ground.

0:04:41 > 0:04:44So, how long does it take to build a flying bath tub?

0:04:44 > 0:04:52Two weeks apparently.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58Not bad really when you consider it took mankind thousands of years

0:04:58 > 0:04:59to build the first plane.

0:04:59 > 0:05:01The German government approved the project, but,

0:05:01 > 0:05:04they did ban them from going any higher than 30 metres in the air.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07So, it's unlikely they will be replacing claims any time soon.

0:05:07 > 0:05:15Shame, really.

0:05:19 > 0:05:21Finally, animal rescuers in Scotland have been busy helping this

0:05:21 > 0:05:23little hedgehog get better with a spot of swimming.

0:05:23 > 0:05:25It was found in the Scottish Highlands and couldn't

0:05:25 > 0:05:27use its back legs.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29So staff at an SSPCA rescue centre ran him a bath,

0:05:29 > 0:05:32which meant he could slowly build his muscles back up.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34He's been named Phelps, after the famous American swimmer.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36Just enough time to tell you to head Newsround online.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39And if you've ever wondered what it's like to fly,

0:05:39 > 0:05:40check out the world paragliding championships - amazing!

0:05:40 > 0:05:44Plus have a go at our quiz of the week.

0:05:44 > 0:05:48This time it's all about gadgets.

0:05:48 > 0:05:49Cheers for watching.

0:05:49 > 0:05:52Martin's back this afternoon.

0:05:52 > 0:05:53Have a great day at school.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56See you soon.
