:00:24. > :00:27.Double trouble tonight. Ricky and Leah here guiding you

:00:27. > :00:30.through today's top stories. We're coming to you live from

:00:30. > :00:33.Salford. Stick around for some of this.

:00:33. > :00:36.Hayley meets the Australian swimmers going for gold.

:00:36. > :00:44.How would you feel if, like President Obama, your parents

:00:44. > :00:47.smooched on the telly? We've got your worst embarrassing moments.

:00:47. > :00:51.There are warnings that more needs to be done to protect cyclists.

:00:51. > :00:55.Nearly 3,000 children were injured while out on their bikes last year.

:00:55. > :01:01.A report by MPs says more people are taking up cycling so it is

:01:01. > :01:05.important to act now to make our Cycling is one of the fastest

:01:05. > :01:10.growing sports in the UK. Around 3.5 million people take up a bit of

:01:10. > :01:15.cycling once a week and there are concerns that our cities aren't fit

:01:16. > :01:19.for cyclists. Today's report from MPs says more

:01:19. > :01:22.people are being injured on the roads because there aren't enough

:01:22. > :01:27.safe places for them to cycle. So what do they suggest?

:01:27. > :01:32.Well, new laws to make sure lorries have alarms when turning in towns.

:01:32. > :01:36.500 of the country's most dangerous junctions to be made safer, better

:01:36. > :01:39.cycle lanes and the speed limit to be cut to 20mph in residential

:01:39. > :01:44.areas. Lots of places in Britain have

:01:44. > :01:47.these cycle lanes that give cyclists their own space on at road

:01:47. > :01:50.and create distance between them and the cars, but they can be

:01:50. > :01:55.confusing. Sometimes they vanish and sometimes cars don't take

:01:55. > :01:59.notice of them. How safe do you feel on your bike? I used to not

:01:59. > :02:02.like going on the roads because I was nervous about cars behind me

:02:02. > :02:06.thinking that I'm going too slow or stuff.

:02:07. > :02:15.If you know what you're doing, it is OK.

:02:15. > :02:21.Cyclists need to be more confident. Campaigners argue cyclist would be

:02:21. > :02:24.safer if Britain is more like cycle-friendly Amsterdam. Cyclists

:02:24. > :02:28.have separate lanes and their own sets of traffic lights which keeps

:02:28. > :02:33.them away from other road users. We asked the Government what they are

:02:33. > :02:37.doing to make the roads safer. They said they spend 11 million a year

:02:37. > :02:40.on training programmes for kids and they will be looking into the

:02:40. > :02:44.suggestions made in the report. For now, I will leave you with cycling

:02:45. > :02:48.advice from these guys. Always make sure your bike is safe,

:02:48. > :02:51.your tyres are pumped up and your brakes are working.

:02:51. > :02:54.Make sure you pay attention on the road. Don't listen to music or go

:02:54. > :03:02.on your phone. I didn't look good on the bike

:03:02. > :03:08.there, did I? I think I was on the wrong gear.

:03:08. > :03:12.Bradley Wiggins has retained the yellow jersey in the Tour de France.

:03:12. > :03:15.Oscar Pistorius is set to make history at the Olympics in the next

:03:15. > :03:20.few weeks when he becomes the first double amputee to compete at the

:03:20. > :03:23.Games. He lost both of his legs when he was a baby, but it didn't

:03:23. > :03:26.stop him doing great things. Now some people think his blades give

:03:26. > :03:31.him an unfair advantage, but this is what he had to say about

:03:31. > :03:34.representing South Africa in the 400 meters.

:03:34. > :03:38.It hit me in the beginning, but it wasn't like it was really, it

:03:38. > :03:43.didn't really sink in immediately. I woke up the next day and I

:03:43. > :03:48.couldn't believe it. It has been so many years of a lot of people's

:03:48. > :03:52.time invested into me and effort and a lot of my own sacrifices and

:03:52. > :03:55.hard work. I think I won't believe it until

:03:55. > :03:58.I'm there in London on the starting blocks.

:03:59. > :04:02.So plenty of Olympic athletes are currently on British soil. Training

:04:02. > :04:04.at universities and schools all over the place. Lots of you have

:04:04. > :04:09.spotted sports starts training where you live. Today Hayley

:04:09. > :04:13.tracked down some Aussie swimmers right here in Manchester. Now this

:04:13. > :04:17.may look like your every day, average, end of school term

:04:17. > :04:22.swimming competition, but today, these guys have got a little

:04:22. > :04:25.special helping hand from these lot! They are the Australian

:04:25. > :04:30.Olympic swimming team. So how are you finding it in Manchester and in

:04:30. > :04:35.Britain? It is good. There is a good vibe everywhere and everyone

:04:35. > :04:39.is happy. All the excitement about the Olympics gets us excited.

:04:39. > :04:43.When you are swimming in the Olympics, your families will be in

:04:43. > :04:48.Australia in the dark asleep? family are coming over. They will

:04:48. > :04:54.find it interesting. They will be in the stands most of the time'

:04:54. > :04:58.racing. Have you got any tips for these lot?

:04:58. > :05:02.Take tips from the Aussies and not the English!

:05:02. > :05:06.Fighting talk. Fighting talk. The Olympians have been taking over

:05:06. > :05:11.this pool, but now it is time for the real stars to give it a go.

:05:11. > :05:15.Come on, guys. What's it like having the Olympians

:05:15. > :05:21.training you? Like a dream come true.

:05:21. > :05:26.Do you feel they have improved your swimming techniques? Very much.

:05:26. > :05:28.There is just nine days to go until the start of the Olympics. You

:05:29. > :05:30.never know, with these guys style, they could be joining them in the

:05:31. > :05:34.future. Thanks, Hayley.

:05:34. > :05:37.One of the British swimmers who'll be taking to the water in the next

:05:37. > :05:41.few weeks is medallist Keri-Anne Payne. In 2008, she won a silver

:05:41. > :05:51.medal at her first ever Olympics in the 10 kilometre open water race.

:05:51. > :05:54.

:05:54. > :05:58.Here's how it all went for her. I'm Keri-anne Payne. On the day of

:05:58. > :06:01.my event, it was fantastic. I was nervous the night before. I didn't

:06:01. > :06:07.get all that much sleep and then I had to get up really, really early

:06:07. > :06:11.at 4am to have food because my event lasts for two hours. Referee

:06:11. > :06:15.speaking to us before we got into the race telling us the course

:06:15. > :06:21.details and telling us to be good, making sure nobody hurt anyone

:06:21. > :06:25.during the race. It was a surreal experience and getting in. All the

:06:25. > :06:29.nerves just go away. I don't know how that works, but it did, getting

:06:29. > :06:35.in and just getting on with the swim and getting on with what I

:06:35. > :06:39.trained for so many years to do was amazing and to get the result was a

:06:39. > :06:43.dream come true. I came out with the silver medal and I was so happy

:06:43. > :06:48.and so proud of myself for achieving what I achieved and

:06:48. > :06:51.knowing that all that hard work had paid off.

:06:51. > :06:55.All day we've been asking you online what embarrassing things

:06:55. > :07:00.your parents do. Mine has to be dad dancing, but how about parents

:07:00. > :07:03.smooching on the telly? That's what President Obama and his wife

:07:03. > :07:08.Michelle did at a basketball game this week. They were there with

:07:08. > :07:11.their family when they were caught on the stadium camera. He wasn't

:07:11. > :07:14.shy and planted a big smacker on Michelle's lips. Low pressure Their

:07:14. > :07:17.daughter Malia looked like she didn't mind too much, but watching

:07:17. > :07:20.those pictures got us thinking. What's the most embarrassing thing

:07:20. > :07:25.your mum and dad have ever done? We've had loads of comments in from

:07:25. > :07:28.you guys. Anam from London has been in touch to say, "Every time I go

:07:28. > :07:31.shopping with my parents, my dad always starts to sing Indian songs

:07:31. > :07:35.in public and I always start to blush when people start to stare."

:07:35. > :07:39.Milly from Bath also got in touch, she said my mum and I went clothes

:07:39. > :07:42.shopping and my mum held up a pair of pink shorts for me to try on. I

:07:42. > :07:44.realised everyone was staring at me because my mum had plucked them out

:07:44. > :07:47.of another person's trolley by mistake!

:07:47. > :07:51.And the last one from Annabel from Gloucestershire, "If we go out and

:07:51. > :07:56.I see my friends my parents hold hands and kiss each other. I get

:07:56. > :08:00.really embarrassed, but they find it funny!" Next to some pictures

:08:00. > :08:06.that look terrifying. These shots show a plane being struck by

:08:06. > :08:10.lightning. It's not as dangerous as it looks and actually happens quite

:08:10. > :08:18.a lot. If you want to find out how engineers make planes lightning

:08:18. > :08:21.proof, head over to the Newsround website.

:08:22. > :08:26.If you think you're good at making things out of Lego, you might want

:08:26. > :08:29.to check this first. This is a replica of a jet engine and it's

:08:29. > :08:34.made entirely of the little plastic bricks. It took eight weeks to make

:08:34. > :08:40.and it's got over 150,000 pieces. It even shows all the working parts

:08:40. > :08:44.of the engines. Ric Ricky don't go near that!

:08:44. > :08:50.Now if you're a fan of painting and horses then this next story is for

:08:50. > :08:55.you. This is Justin the painting horse. He's been so successful he's
