0:00:06 > 0:00:10Hi, I'm Martin, live with all your news this Tuesday afternoon.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Coming up in the next few minutes: High flying horses...

0:00:12 > 0:00:22And a baby elephant takes her first steps.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26But first, it's safe to say that Johanna Konta

0:00:26 > 0:00:28was the stand out British player at Wimbledon this year.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31The 23-year-old become the first British woman to reach

0:00:31 > 0:00:35the Wimbledon singles semi-finals in almost 40 years.

0:00:35 > 0:00:43Ricky caught up with the history maker herself.

0:00:44 > 0:00:45COMMENTATOR: It's over.

0:00:45 > 0:00:51British tennis history is made.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54Wimbledon is more special because it's my home slam.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57Not many athletes get to say they have a home slam so I feel very

0:00:57 > 0:01:03fortunate with that.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05It's been 39 years since a British woman can say,

0:01:05 > 0:01:10"I'm a Wimbledon semifinalist."

0:01:10 > 0:01:13I got to be a part of so many incredible matches,

0:01:13 > 0:01:16I had some epic battles, I got to play on centre court

0:01:16 > 0:01:20in Court One and to play in front of a crowd that was so supportive

0:01:20 > 0:01:27and so excited for me.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Now somehow Johanna Konta has forced a final set.

0:01:30 > 0:01:40For me, it's always been the competition, it is was been

0:01:43 > 0:01:45the competitive environment and the emotions that come

0:01:45 > 0:01:47with that, the triumphs, the losses as well, I think it's

0:01:47 > 0:01:49more those emotions and those experiences that I've

0:01:49 > 0:01:50always most enjoyed.

0:01:50 > 0:01:59She read it.

0:01:59 > 0:02:03It's a fun sport to be a part of whatever level and it's also

0:02:03 > 0:02:05a really social sport, you can do it with your friends,

0:02:05 > 0:02:09you can play with your family, so I think it does have a place

0:02:09 > 0:02:12in Olympic terms.

0:02:13 > 0:02:14Now to some high flying horses!

0:02:14 > 0:02:17A new style of horse eventing is hoping to bring a little more

0:02:17 > 0:02:18excitement to the sport.

0:02:18 > 0:02:26We went along with a young super fan to see what it's all about.

0:02:27 > 0:02:27Hi, I'm Izzie.

0:02:27 > 0:02:31I love all things riding and I even enjoy lessons.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34I've been riding since I was about five, but I am

0:02:34 > 0:02:43here today to find out how the professionals do it.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47This is the Event Rider Masters, a new type of eventing competition,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50and I can't wait to see the riders in action.

0:02:50 > 0:02:51Eventing is also known as horse trials.

0:02:51 > 0:02:57The competition has three different stages - dressage,

0:02:57 > 0:02:58cross country and showjumping.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00One of the riders here today is Gemma Tatterson.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03She is a very experienced competitor and she was part

0:03:03 > 0:03:12of the British Olympic team at Rio.

0:03:12 > 0:03:18What makes the Event Rider Masters different to other competitions?

0:03:18 > 0:03:20Event Rider Masters is a shortened, more exciting version of eventing.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23So it is actually the top 40 riders in the world come forward,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26which makes it very, very competitive and the build-up

0:03:26 > 0:03:28towards the end of the competition is really exciting for

0:03:28 > 0:03:34spectators and riders.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36Well done on your lovely showjumping round.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39How are you feeling now you are in seventh, heading

0:03:39 > 0:03:41into the cross-country?

0:03:41 > 0:03:43Yeah, we are really excited.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46Primero is a new ride for me and it is only

0:03:46 > 0:03:47the second time at this level.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51So to jump a really good clear round, to be in the top ten,

0:03:51 > 0:03:52is really exciting.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54I'm going to be giving the cross-country my best shot.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57The overall winner is the rider with the fewest penalties

0:03:57 > 0:03:58after the three stages.

0:03:58 > 0:04:02Congratulations on winning.

0:04:02 > 0:04:09How do you feel to win such a big event?

0:04:09 > 0:04:12Thank you very much, Izzie.

0:04:12 > 0:04:13It's really special.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15It's a really special feeling because it doesn't happen very often

0:04:20 > 0:04:22and I just get the impression I have succeeded in achieving one

0:04:22 > 0:04:25of my dreams, so I am over the moon.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27The idea behind the Event Rider Masters is to make traditional

0:04:27 > 0:04:29eventing faster and more exciting.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31I have had a great day and I hope to be competing

0:04:31 > 0:04:34in it myself one day.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36And finally, check out this Asian elephant calf.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39She was born just last week and made her first public

0:04:39 > 0:04:41appearance at a zoo in Texas in the United States.

0:04:41 > 0:04:43She's being looked after by her mum.

0:04:43 > 0:04:44Zookeepers have named her Joy.

0:04:44 > 0:04:51Too cute!

0:04:51 > 0:04:52That's all from me.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Don't forget Newsround's back at 7:40 tomorrow morning.

0:04:54 > 0:05:03Have a great evening.
