:00:22. > :00:26.Good evening, Ore and Ricky with you for a new sound, we have
:00:26. > :00:32.everything that you need to know. -- for Newsround.
:00:32. > :00:37.We meet the creatures desperate for your health. I am Louis Walsh and
:00:37. > :00:41.you're watching CBBC Newsround, OK? Keep watching. That's right. It's
:00:41. > :00:49.nearly time to face the music. X Factor is back this weekend but no
:00:50. > :00:53.Simon, no share all, no Dannii, any good? -- no Cheryl.
:00:53. > :00:58.We have talked a lot about the thousands of people who have fled
:00:58. > :01:02.famine and war in Somalia. When I went to Kenya, I visited the Dadaab
:01:02. > :01:05.refugee camp near the Somali and order and reported on how
:01:05. > :01:08.overcrowded things were. A new section of the camp has opened up.
:01:09. > :01:14.Instead of flimsy tents, it is filled with thousands of proper
:01:14. > :01:18.houses and schools, and today, families started moving in.
:01:18. > :01:23.When this camp was created 25 years ago, it was only meant for 90,000
:01:23. > :01:27.people. Now five times that number are living here, and every day,
:01:27. > :01:32.thousands more arrive. Many are escaping famine in nearby Somalia.
:01:32. > :01:36.They walk for days to reach the camp, and arrive wheat and
:01:36. > :01:41.malnourished. Conditions are so overcrowded that new arrivals have
:01:41. > :01:44.to set up camp in the desert -- arrive week. Some of the kids were
:01:44. > :01:49.living in makeshift tents. They have no toilets, know where to eat
:01:49. > :01:52.and hardly any water. TRANSLATION:, during the day it is hot and windy,
:01:52. > :01:57.during the night it is really cold. Drive a short distance down this
:01:57. > :02:02.dusty road and you will find this. New houses, schools and toilets.
:02:02. > :02:05.For months, it has been empty. The Kenyan government has done a lot to
:02:06. > :02:08.help refugees fleeing the famine in neighbouring countries, but when
:02:08. > :02:12.the new camp was built, the government worried that the
:02:12. > :02:19.facilities were so good, refugees who moved in might never want to
:02:19. > :02:23.leave. The camp or shut and no one was allowed in. Now finally, months
:02:23. > :02:28.on, Kenya has decided to open the camp, and for the first time,
:02:28. > :02:31.families are moving in. Just 100 to start with, but with space for
:02:31. > :02:38.40,000 people, it will still be home to the likes of the Seine and
:02:38. > :02:41.families who are in desperate need of help. -- the likes of Hussein.
:02:41. > :02:45.There is good news for the comeback kings of the countryside. 40 years
:02:45. > :02:49.ago, otters came close to dying out because there was so much pollution
:02:49. > :02:53.in our river. But lots of work has been done to improve that and the
:02:53. > :02:58.mammals have been spotted in every single county across England. Go,
:02:58. > :03:01.otters, you are doing good! And to some not quite so cute or
:03:01. > :03:03.cuddly creatures and because of that, they don't get so much
:03:03. > :03:08.attention. When it comes to endangered animals,
:03:08. > :03:15.we normally hear about the bigger animals, even though the threats
:03:15. > :03:20.surrounding other species gets bigger every day.
:03:20. > :03:24.Polar bears and leopards. They are facing an uncertain future. But you
:03:24. > :03:29.probably already knew that. That is because these animals are
:03:29. > :03:32.frequently on TV, and in the papers, when it comes to talking about
:03:32. > :03:36.endangered species. However, there are thousands of other creatures
:03:36. > :03:39.under threat, but they don't get the same amount of coverage,
:03:39. > :03:49.because some would argue that they are a bit ugly, or to put it
:03:49. > :03:50.
:03:50. > :03:57.That is why a special conservation project called Age was launched,
:03:58. > :04:07.which aims to highlight the plight of weird species facing an
:04:08. > :04:08.
:04:08. > :04:15.uncertain future -- Edge. I manage a focus -- a programme which
:04:15. > :04:18.focuses on the Z less celebrities of the animal kingdom. -- Z list.
:04:18. > :04:22.This is a mountain chicken frog. In its natural habitat it has
:04:22. > :04:27.practically been wiped out because of the deadly fungus, and there are
:04:27. > :04:30.only a couple of hundred left in the world. The disease emerged in
:04:30. > :04:38.the 70s and it is leading to the demise of pretty much all species
:04:38. > :04:42.of amphibians, all the frogs, all the newts. The more species we lose,
:04:42. > :04:48.the worse it is likely to be for what is left on the planet,
:04:48. > :04:51.including humans. Plenty of work to be done.
:04:51. > :04:54.Absolutely. It is not often that a prince pops
:04:55. > :04:58.in to tell you how well you're doing your job, but that is what
:04:58. > :05:03.happened to a bunch of firefighters, police and ambulance crews today.
:05:03. > :05:07.They told Prince Harry how much they'd dealt with the recent
:05:07. > :05:10.violence in Manchester in silent -- and Salford. Harry visited some of
:05:10. > :05:15.the shops affected and thanked the emergency teams for their hard work.
:05:15. > :05:19.It is that time of year again, when we give up our Saturday nights from
:05:19. > :05:25.now up until Christmas. It is a bit sad! X Factor is back. But not as
:05:25. > :05:30.we know it. With three favourite faces gone, can it survive?
:05:30. > :05:36.It is all change on the X Factor this year. Simon, Cheryl and Dannii
:05:36. > :05:41.have gone. In their place, these guys. Take that superstar Gary
:05:41. > :05:48.Barlow, Kelly Rowland, and Flowers from N-Dubz. Can the new series
:05:48. > :05:53.work without Simon Cowell -- Flowers from N-Dubz. It is a big
:05:53. > :05:57.risk, but that is what the show is about. It is about moving forward
:05:58. > :06:01.always as a TV show. The public are always going to be hesitant when it
:06:01. > :06:05.comes to new people. Especially when you are someone like Simon and
:06:05. > :06:10.Cheryl, they are going to say, you better be good. What is it like,
:06:10. > :06:14.not having someone like Simon on the panel? He left pop idol, is
:06:14. > :06:19.survived. We miss him, but the show can be bigger without him, I think.
:06:19. > :06:23.But then it Louis would say that. Despite claims that this is boot
:06:23. > :06:27.camp will be tougher than ever, Kelly Rowland think she has spotted
:06:27. > :06:30.several winners already. Everybody has always asked me since the X
:06:30. > :06:35.Factor, what is the difference between the US talent and the
:06:35. > :06:38.British talent? Truly and honestly, talent his talent.
:06:38. > :06:43.We can't talk Saturday-night without mentioning Strictly Come
:06:43. > :06:49.Dancing, which starts next month. They have big plans, with a special
:06:49. > :06:53.show at Wembley Arena, and the final from Blackpool Tower, in 3D.
:06:53. > :06:59.Not to be beaten, X Factor bosses confirmed this week that their
:06:59. > :07:03.final will be at Wembley, so let the battle commence.
:07:03. > :07:06.Kelly Rowland, or Anne Widdecombe in 3D? That is the choice you have
:07:06. > :07:11.got to make! You have been on the news run
:07:11. > :07:18.website, telling us if X Factor will work without Simon Cowell and
:07:18. > :07:28.Cheryl Cole. "they may choose the wrong contestants to go through to
:07:28. > :07:38.
:07:38. > :07:42.Make sure you keep watching Newsround through the weekend, we
:07:42. > :07:48.will have loads more X Factor gossip for you. It is here. That is
:07:48. > :07:56.your lot for now. Just before we go, congratulations to Tom Daley, he
