0:00:04 > 0:00:05It's Monday morning.

0:00:05 > 0:00:09Ayshah here with the stories to start your week, including:

0:00:09 > 0:00:12British athletics is riding high as Team GB get a record 12 gold medals

0:00:12 > 0:00:18at the European Championships.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21helping farmers with their harvests.

0:00:21 > 0:00:25This is Newsround.

0:00:27 > 0:00:31First, to Iraq, where the Government has said British forces could play a

0:00:31 > 0:00:33role for "weeks and months" to come.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36Tens of thousands of people have been forced to flee

0:00:36 > 0:00:44their homes because of the threat they face from Islamic State.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47The Royal Air Force has been delivering aid to people

0:00:47 > 0:00:50in desperate need on the ground, but now British pilots are also

0:00:50 > 0:00:53flying missions to gather information about where militants

0:00:53 > 0:00:56are, and what they're doing.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58And there's more information about what's going on in Iraq

0:00:58 > 0:01:03on our special guide on the Newsround website.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Next, during the summer holidays, you may have spent some time

0:01:06 > 0:01:08in the countryside, If you did, you probably saw tractors

0:01:08 > 0:01:12and combine harvesters hard at work on the crops.

0:01:12 > 0:01:17Now some very clever inventions have made this process even easier.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21We sent Martin to a farm in Gloucestershire to find out more.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26You just can't beat a slice of toast and a bowl of cereal in the morning,

0:01:26 > 0:01:27but where does it all come from?

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Well, it's actually made from wheat, and for farmers up and down the

0:01:30 > 0:01:35country, it is time to harvest it.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37The harvest season is when farmers take to

0:01:37 > 0:01:41their fields to pick the crops that they have been growing all year.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44It is also a nervous time, as they find out if the plants

0:01:44 > 0:01:48they've sown have had enough heat, light, and water to be good enough

0:01:48 > 0:01:50to end up on our plates.

0:01:50 > 0:01:54They haven't got long to get everything done.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57It is a bit of a race against time to try to get

0:01:57 > 0:01:59the crops harvested and get them to the barn when they are

0:01:59 > 0:02:03in the best state possible to make the best bread or the best biscuits

0:02:03 > 0:02:04or the best breakfast cereal.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07This year, there has been loads of sunshine, which has been really

0:02:07 > 0:02:10good for the grain, and here at this farm in Gloucestershire,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12that is great news.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14The quality of the grain we are growing looks to

0:02:14 > 0:02:17be fantastic, so we should get some really good bread from it.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20We are about two weeks ahead of where we would normally be, because

0:02:20 > 0:02:22it has been so warm for so long.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25It has been a fantastic summer for farming so far.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28Picking crops from land was not always an easy task.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30It used to take a very long time.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33Farmers would do most of the tasks by hand, and deploy

0:02:33 > 0:02:35loads of people to help them.

0:02:35 > 0:02:39But over the last 200 years, some very clever inventions have helped

0:02:39 > 0:02:42make the harvest season easy.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Quadcopter technology to be able to have an aerial view of our field,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48we can just go out and spray a particular patch.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50That technology is good for the environment, because we're not using

0:02:50 > 0:02:52as many chemicals around the farm.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54Combine, for instance, can steer itself.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56It has GPS on it.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59It can tell us which parts of the field a yielding a good yield,

0:02:59 > 0:03:01and which are yielding a bad yield.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03Farming and farms have gotten bigger and

0:03:03 > 0:03:06bigger, and we are using more and more technology to try to save money

0:03:06 > 0:03:09and make everyone's lives easier.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12And the more wheat that is harvested means more cereal and more toast

0:03:12 > 0:03:16for me.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20To sport now, and England's women rugby union team

0:03:20 > 0:03:22are world champions.

0:03:22 > 0:03:26They beat Canada 21-9 in the final.

0:03:26 > 0:03:30Emily Scarratt's second try of the match sealed the win in Paris.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33They have made it to the final in the last three cups,

0:03:33 > 0:03:41but their previous success in the tournament was 20 years ago.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44Sticking with sport, and Mo Farah added another medal to the British

0:03:44 > 0:03:45gold rush at the European Championships this weekend.

0:03:45 > 0:03:48After winning gold in the 10,000 metres on Wednesday,

0:03:48 > 0:03:51Mo dominated the 5,000 metres on the final day yesterday.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55And Mo said having his kids there made quite a difference.

0:03:55 > 0:03:56Yeah, it was amazing.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58One of them gave me a kiss.

0:03:58 > 0:03:59It was like "Daddy, Daddy".

0:03:59 > 0:04:02It is the first time they have come to watch me properly

0:04:02 > 0:04:03and see Daddy race.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05It's a great championship for all the people.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08We have a young team, particularly the relay.

0:04:08 > 0:04:09Adam Gemili is really impressive.

0:04:09 > 0:04:14He is only young, and we have done well overall.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17Another Olympic and Commonwealth Champion, Greg Rutherford,

0:04:17 > 0:04:22won the long jump with a jump of 8 metres and 29 centimetres.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26His win guaranteed Britain topped the medal table for only

0:04:26 > 0:04:31the third time in the Championships history, with a record 12 golds.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34And yet more British gold in both the men's and women's

0:04:34 > 0:04:364 x 100 relays.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39But it was the women's result that was particularly sweet.

0:04:39 > 0:04:44The ladies set a new British record, their time of 42.25 seconds beating

0:04:44 > 0:04:48the one set way back in 1980.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50England's cricketers are having a nice day off

0:04:50 > 0:04:53after they smashed India in just three days for the second

0:04:53 > 0:04:55time running to win the series 3-1.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57India were bowled out in their second innings

0:04:57 > 0:05:01for just 94 yesterday, England winning the test match

0:05:01 > 0:05:05by a massive innings and 244 runs.

0:05:05 > 0:05:06Captain Alistair Cook said he's delighted with

0:05:06 > 0:05:09his side's incredible turnaround.

0:05:09 > 0:05:14English cricket needed a series win, and to deliver it like we've

0:05:14 > 0:05:17delivered it, you know, we'll have a big smile on our face to win

0:05:17 > 0:05:21the last two games in three days.

0:05:21 > 0:05:26I think they got no more than one 50 in four innings.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29The bowlers can take a huge amount of credit.

0:05:29 > 0:05:33All the batters scored runs, so it's almost like the perfect games.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36And Man City began the defence of their Premier League title with

0:05:36 > 0:05:38a 2-0 win at Newcastle.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41David Silva gave City a first half lead, set up by a great

0:05:41 > 0:05:45backheel from Edin Dzeko, before Sergio Aguero came off the bench to

0:05:45 > 0:05:48score in the closing minutes.

0:05:48 > 0:05:52The win puts City at the top of the table after the opening weekend.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54That's all from me.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57Newsround's back right here at 8.55, where you can find out why the

0:05:57 > 0:05:58world's fastest man, the Lightning Bolt, is having a party in Brazil.
