:00:00. > :00:09.Good morning, guys. Jenny here with news of a massive shock at the

:00:10. > :00:13.Australian Open coming up. Plus, the tiny panda pulling in big

:00:14. > :00:20.crowds. This is Newsround. First up: A

:00:21. > :00:23.british teenager has now made history by becoming the youngest

:00:24. > :00:26.person ever to reach the South Pole We told you yesterday how

:00:27. > :00:31.16-year-old Lewis Clarke was on the last leg of his 7,000 mile charity

:00:32. > :00:34.trek across Antartica. Well, it took a little longer than expected but he

:00:35. > :00:38.arrived just after 6:00pm last night.

:00:39. > :00:41.We'll be speaking to Lewis from Antartica later and there's still

:00:42. > :00:50.time for you to send in your questions for him over on the

:00:51. > :00:53.website. Next, to the amazing hero-rats who

:00:54. > :00:56.are trained to save peoples' lives! In countries like Mozambique in

:00:57. > :00:59.Africa they're being taught to sniff out deadly explosives called

:01:00. > :01:03.landmines that are buried under ground. And, as Ayshah's been

:01:04. > :01:15.finding out, it's helping to change the opinion of one of nature's least

:01:16. > :01:21.popular creatures. These Gambian rats grow to about the

:01:22. > :01:23.size of a cat. They are sniffing out explosives. Their eyesight isn't

:01:24. > :01:28.great but they have a great sense of smell which makes them perfect for

:01:29. > :01:33.the job. In some areas of Mozambique it is too dangerous for people to

:01:34. > :01:35.live on the land which is why the rats are so important. Training

:01:36. > :01:40.starts early in the morning and every time they find a mind they are

:01:41. > :01:45.given banana and peanuts as a reward. Mostly people think that

:01:46. > :02:03.rats are vermin and the same in African villages, people do not like

:02:04. > :02:06.rats very much about where we go with the hero rats and when they see

:02:07. > :02:08.what they do for humanity, people change that perception and see these

:02:09. > :02:10.rats as intelligent and social animals that are actually

:02:11. > :02:12.life-saving so they are really heroes. The rats are not heavy

:02:13. > :02:15.enough to set off the landmines so they are not putting any danger and

:02:16. > :02:17.when they are not working they have plenty of time to relax and chill

:02:18. > :02:21.out with their mates. Next to a major shock at the

:02:22. > :02:24.Australian Open. Number one seed Venus Williams has been knocked out

:02:25. > :02:27.by Serbia's Ana Ivanovic. Williams has won the tournament five times

:02:28. > :02:30.before. It's only the sixth time everthat Serena's lost a match,

:02:31. > :02:32.after winning the first set. Incredible!

:02:33. > :02:36.It was a big day for Bao Bao the panda cub yesterday. The four month

:02:37. > :02:39.old panda made made her first public appearance at a zoo in America.

:02:40. > :02:43.She's just learning to eat solid food, like bamboo, and spends about

:02:44. > :02:46.20 hours a day sleeping, so visitors were lucky to see her in action. She

:02:47. > :02:49.has only been visible on a special panda cam so far so seeing her in

:02:50. > :02:53.person was a treat. We have been watching her on the panda cam so we

:02:54. > :02:55.knew there was a chance she would be asleep this morning because she was

:02:56. > :02:57.awake and we looked on the panda camps or it was very exciting.

:02:58. > :03:01.That's all from me.
