:00:11. > :00:14.Hi guys, Martin here with Wednesday's top stories.

:00:15. > :00:16.First, the breaking news this afternoon, there will be a general

:00:17. > :00:19.election on 8th June, that's where adults vote to chose

:00:20. > :00:24.The Prime Minister said yesterday that's what she wanted

:00:25. > :00:26.to happen and this afternoon, in a vote, Members of

:00:27. > :00:33.Now, general elections might sound familiar,

:00:34. > :00:38.They are normally every five years, but they can happen any time,

:00:39. > :00:50.So, what is a general election, and how does it all happen?

:00:51. > :00:59.How does a general election work? The UK is divided into 650

:01:00. > :01:03.constituencies. Each area has a member of Parliament or MP that

:01:04. > :01:08.represents it. All of them get a seat in the Houses of Parliament. In

:01:09. > :01:13.a general election, adults 18 and over get the chance to vote for who

:01:14. > :01:18.should be the MP in their area. On election day, people go to polling

:01:19. > :01:22.stations to vote. They get a ballot paper with names of all the

:01:23. > :01:27.candidates, the people running to be MPs. They put a cross next to the

:01:28. > :01:33.person they most want to represent them. The candidate who gets the

:01:34. > :01:37.most becomes MP. Most MPs are part of groups called political parties.

:01:38. > :01:43.Usually the political party that gets the most MPs out of the 650

:01:44. > :01:48.forms the new government, which runs the country. And, that party's

:01:49. > :01:49.leader becomes the Prime Minister and moves into Number 10 Downing

:01:50. > :01:51.Street. And there's loads more

:01:52. > :01:53.info online in our guide to the general election,

:01:54. > :01:55.including what to expect Next up, it's an exciting

:01:56. > :01:58.time for space fans as the Earth is getting a very

:01:59. > :02:10.special fly-by today. Space, it's a rather big place, but

:02:11. > :02:16.every so often objects in space get a little bit close to each other.

:02:17. > :02:24.That's what's going to happen today. An asteroid called 2014 JO-25 is due

:02:25. > :02:30.to go past our planet in what Nasa is calling a close approach. Fear

:02:31. > :02:35.not, the asteroid is going to pass is about 1.1 million miles away.

:02:36. > :02:40.Still, given how massive space is, that still means it gets to be

:02:41. > :02:45.called a near Earth object. Nasa have said there's no possibility for

:02:46. > :02:49.the asteroid to crash into our planet, but scientists are very

:02:50. > :02:55.excited to study it as it goes past. So, what do we know about the space

:02:56. > :03:00.invader? The asteroid is about 650 metres wide. It's the biggest

:03:01. > :03:09.asteroid come this close since a 5000 metre asteroid in September

:03:10. > :03:15.2000 and four. 2014 JO-25 hasn't come this near to us for 400 years.

:03:16. > :03:18.It doesn't plan on dropping by for another 500 years. Keep your eyes

:03:19. > :03:22.peeled and let's enjoy the visit! Some rugby now, and Welsh player

:03:23. > :03:24.Sam Warburton will captain the British and Irish Lions

:03:25. > :03:27.for their tour of New Warbuton's Lions are made up

:03:28. > :03:30.of players from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland,

:03:31. > :03:33.but the shock news is that England captain Dylan Hartley

:03:34. > :03:34.hasn't been picked. Finally, Egyptian archaeologists say

:03:35. > :03:59.they've found an ancient tomb If you want to walk inside this

:04:00. > :04:02.newly found tomb you'll find a small pathway that leads into a

:04:03. > :04:14.rectangular shaped hole with an inner chamber. But, what you'll also

:04:15. > :04:23.see are some really old Egyptian treasures. Eight mummies have been

:04:24. > :04:24.found along with these colourful tombs. Also among them were more

:04:25. > :04:39.than 1000 statues. It's believed the tomb belonged to a

:04:40. > :04:44.noble man because a lot of the statues and artefacts had his

:04:45. > :04:48.initials on them. You'll be pleased because his old belongings are still

:04:49. > :04:51.in pretty good nick, considering they are over 3000 years old.

:04:52. > :04:57.That's all from me, Newsround's back right here at 7:40am tomorrow.
