:01:16. > :01:18.Well, that's what England captain Steven Gerrard thinks of them,

:02:21. > :02:33.Here in the UK, we're used to the idea that you

:02:34. > :02:38.do difficult or dangerous jobs. But in parts of America some kids are

:02:39. > :02:42.having to work long hours in order to earn money, and it is allowed by

:02:43. > :02:45.the authorities. Ayshah has been looking into the story.

:02:46. > :02:50.Last summer, Brandon and his brother worked long days picking

:02:51. > :02:56.tobacco, used to make cigarettes. I wake up at four o'clock every

:02:57. > :03:07.morning and was in there by 6:30am. I was not out until about 8:30pm.

:03:08. > :03:10.In England and Wales, a child has to be 13 to work,

:03:11. > :03:14.but even then it must only be a part-time job, like a paper round.

:03:15. > :03:18.But there are some parts of the US, like North Carolina, where children

:03:19. > :03:22.as young as 12 can work up to 72 hours a week in the fields.

:03:23. > :03:24.A group which campaigns for people's rights says,

:03:25. > :03:27.although this isn't against the law in North Carolina, it's not right.

:03:28. > :03:29.They say working in tobacco fields is dangerous.

:03:30. > :03:32.The leaves can cause sickness and headaches while the chemicals

:03:33. > :03:36.used to protect the crops from pests can be harmful to their skin, too.

:03:37. > :03:39.Most people kept trash bags on them to keep the chemicals

:03:40. > :03:47.On the first day it got on my face a lot, and I did not know

:03:48. > :03:51.that until I got home later that day and my face was burning.

:03:52. > :03:55.I told my mum and she said, it's because the chemicals are

:03:56. > :04:04.There are laws here that say that if children work then it has to be

:04:05. > :04:07.before or after school but some people think that children

:04:08. > :04:10.should work in the fields because it is part of the tradition

:04:11. > :04:18.As far as being safe, my parents felt safe enough for me to be here.

:04:19. > :04:21.I am an eighth generation farmer, my children are ninth generation

:04:22. > :04:24.farmers and that is the way they learn their responsibility.

:04:25. > :04:28.At the moment, it doesn't look like there will be a change in the

:04:29. > :04:31.law in North Carolina, which means there is pressure on the companies

:04:32. > :04:35.that make cigarettes to stop kids from working in the fields.

:04:36. > :04:39.Last up, Rita Ora has scored her fourth UK number one with her

:04:40. > :04:44.The track, which was produced by Calvin Harris, took her right to

:04:45. > :04:49.the top of the charts, and Rita says she can't stop smiling.
