0:01:55 > 0:01:57I have been to the moon.

0:01:57 > 0:01:58I hold two Guinness records.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00One for being the most isolated person in history,

0:02:00 > 0:02:04and for doing the very first deep space spacewalk.

0:02:04 > 0:02:09Back in 1971, Nasa launched Apollo 15, the latest

0:02:09 > 0:02:13in its rockets to the moon.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17Al Worden was the command module pilot, and Apollo

0:02:17 > 0:02:2015 reached the moon, two astronauts went down

0:02:20 > 0:02:23to the surface, and Al stayed on board alone as he orbited

0:02:23 > 0:02:25the moon for three days.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27So, Al, can you tell me what it was like being

0:02:27 > 0:02:29so far away in space?

0:02:29 > 0:02:33Yeah, it is isolated.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35We were in a little small spacecraft.

0:02:35 > 0:02:40It was only about the size of a Volkswagen.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43I had two guys that were with me go down to the moon for three days,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46I had that Volkswagen all to myself for three days,

0:02:46 > 0:02:47which was kind of nice.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Imagine you are swimming underwater, but there is no water.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51And that is what it is like in space.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53That is incredible.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55So, Newsround viewers love space and they have sent in some

0:02:58 > 0:02:59How long was the training process?

0:02:59 > 0:03:01We trained for three years just for my flight.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04That was after I got selected into the space programme.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07I trained for a year and a half as a back-up crew on Apollo 12,

0:03:07 > 0:03:10and then a year and a half on Apollo 15, three years training

0:03:10 > 0:03:11just for one flight.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13What does space food really taste like?

0:03:13 > 0:03:15We tried some 300 different kinds of food.

0:03:15 > 0:03:16It was all freeze-dried.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17It was quite easy.

0:03:17 > 0:03:21All we had to do was put water back in it and heat it up, lasagne,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24spaghetti, mac and cheese, all kinds of beef pies and stuff.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26It was...

0:05:29 > 0:05:36Sounds terrifying. Thankfully the Florida wildlife team were called

0:05:36 > 0:05:41and were able to move the alligator safely. I will stick to catching
