:00:07. > :00:13.Welcome to Newsround. Stick around for some of this.

:00:13. > :00:18.Thousands of British troops are coming home early from Afghanistan.

:00:18. > :00:27.I'm Barney. We are here to check out the new film, The Snowman and

:00:27. > :00:37.the Snowdog. And: Is it true? Really? Find out what surprised

:00:37. > :00:46.

:00:46. > :00:51.First, it was a disaster which happened to people going to a

:00:51. > :00:58.football match more than 20 years ago. 96 Liverpool fans lost their

:00:58. > :01:03.lives at a FA Cup semifinal in 1989. The latest part of their families'

:01:03. > :01:07.campaign is this song, tipped to be this year's Christmas Number One.

:01:07. > :01:11.Two developments have brought justice a step closer. It follows a

:01:11. > :01:14.report earlier this year which found some police officers had lied

:01:14. > :01:18.afterwards about what happened on that day and tried to blame the

:01:18. > :01:21.fans for causing the deaths. it's been announced the original

:01:21. > :01:25.investigations into how each fan died are to be re-opened. There is

:01:25. > :01:29.also going to be a new police inquiry to try to finally get to

:01:29. > :01:34.the truth. We are delighted. We thought this

:01:34. > :01:37.would be the result. But we have got it now. So I think it is clear

:01:37. > :01:41.now justice is on its way. We could come out with something like a

:01:41. > :01:45.small step for mankind, but it's a huge step for the families. I think

:01:45. > :01:49.a lot of us will have a much happier Christmas.

:01:49. > :01:54.Next, the number of people who have been poorly because of the winter

:01:55. > :02:02.vomiting virus has risen. The bug called Norovirus causes sickness

:02:02. > :02:06.and upset tummy. There have been 880,000 cases in England and Wales

:02:06. > :02:10.since the summer. More than 60 hospitals have had

:02:10. > :02:15.outbreaks and some schools have closed. Well, here to tell us more

:02:15. > :02:21.about this is Dr Tom Cullen. Thank you for coming in. What is

:02:21. > :02:26.Norovirus and how can we catch it? It's a virus which affects your gut.

:02:26. > :02:29.That is why you feel sick and people vomit and go to the toilet a

:02:29. > :02:34.lot. If somebody does have it and comes into contact with someone

:02:34. > :02:39.else, it is likely to spread. girlfriend had it, my dad had it.

:02:39. > :02:43.Lots of people have had this. Should they be going to the doctor?

:02:43. > :02:48.The symptoms might last a day or two. They will feel unwell. After

:02:48. > :02:54.that, they will start to get better. If people aren't getting better

:02:54. > :02:59.after that time, we might recommend going to see the doctor. What

:02:59. > :03:04.should people do if they get it? you do have it, it is important

:03:04. > :03:08.that you eat lots and try and drink a lot to build your fluids back up.

:03:08. > :03:12.Hygiene, so if you wash your hands, try and stay away from people who

:03:12. > :03:17.might get more unwell if they catch it. Stay away from Ricky's family!

:03:17. > :03:20.They are OK now. Next, for the thousands of families in the UK who

:03:20. > :03:25.have relatives in the Armed Forces, there must be no better feeling

:03:25. > :03:29.than seeing them again after months of being in another country. While

:03:29. > :03:33.British troops have been fighting in Afghanistan for more than ten

:03:33. > :03:37.years now, but the Government has announced that thousands of them

:03:37. > :03:43.will be back home sooner than expected. Afghanistan, a

:03:43. > :03:50.battleground for more than a decade. A conflict that's claimed thousands

:03:50. > :03:57.of lives. We will be able to see troops come home in two even steps.

:03:57. > :04:01.The plan is for nearly all 9,500 British troops to leave in the next

:04:01. > :04:05.two years. 500 will be back home in time to see their families this

:04:05. > :04:08.Christmas. Another 4,000 troops will leave by the end of next year.

:04:08. > :04:12.We are surprised about how many are going. It is such a large

:04:12. > :04:17.proportion, almost half the force here currently leaving. But 500

:04:17. > :04:21.have already gone. We caught up with some of those getting on the

:04:21. > :04:24.plane back to the UK. It was a surprise for them. They will be

:04:24. > :04:28.spending Christmas with their families. Forces from the UK and

:04:28. > :04:31.other countries were sent to defeat Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.

:04:31. > :04:35.Britain and America thought the Taliban, who were then in control

:04:35. > :04:39.of the country, were protecting terrorists who had attacked the USA.

:04:39. > :04:44.Since then, it is thought up to 20,000 Afghans have lost their

:04:44. > :04:48.lives. More than 400 British troops and 2,000 Americans have also been

:04:48. > :04:52.killed. After years of heavy fighting, many British servicemen

:04:52. > :04:57.and women have been training local Afghans to protect the country for

:04:57. > :05:00.themselves ready for when the UK troops leave in 2014. The UK troops

:05:00. > :05:05.have been there for many years now. What difference have they made so

:05:05. > :05:10.far? They have made some of the areas that are heavily populated

:05:10. > :05:14.here in Helmand safer so you have seen markets open, you have seen

:05:14. > :05:18.people going to school. They haven't defeated the Taliban. There

:05:18. > :05:23.will be parts of the country that will remain insecure. America will

:05:23. > :05:26.decide when to pull out the rest of its 60,000 troops next year. But

:05:27. > :05:30.today's announcement marks a major step along the way to Britain

:05:30. > :05:34.pulling out of Afghanistan completely.

:05:34. > :05:39.If you want to know more about the conflict, you can head over to the

:05:40. > :05:46.Newsround website. What are you looking forward to on

:05:46. > :05:49.the Christmas telly? Well, The Snowman? Yes. It's not Christmas

:05:49. > :05:54.without the classic film, The Snowman. It has been a massive

:05:54. > :06:00.favourite since it was made. Now, they have made another one, The

:06:00. > :06:04.Snowman and the Snowdog. So we sent some presspackers to a special

:06:04. > :06:09.screening to find out how it compares to the original.

:06:09. > :06:12.Barney. We are here to check out the new film, The Snowman and the

:06:12. > :06:18.Snowdog. # We're walking in the air. #

:06:18. > :06:28.I hope it's as good as the first one. It is time to watch the film

:06:28. > :06:29.

:06:29. > :06:34.now. Quiet! Hit the lights! Snowman and the Snowdog tells a

:06:34. > :06:39.story of a boy who moves house and finds a box in his bedroom. There's

:06:39. > :06:43.a snowman building kit in the box so he builds a snowman and a

:06:43. > :06:50.snowdog. I thought the film was incredible. I liked the bit where

:06:50. > :06:55.the boy finds the box with the picture of the snowman. Really

:06:55. > :07:04.liked the film. I loved it as much as the first film. The ski race was

:07:04. > :07:08.incredible! We are here with Robin, who drew lots of pictures for The

:07:08. > :07:13.Snowman and the Snowdog. How hard was it to draw all the characters

:07:13. > :07:17.the same? That is a good question. A lot of people think with the

:07:17. > :07:22.snowman he is going to be easy to draw, but he is very difficult. If

:07:22. > :07:27.you have got fewer lines to draw to make someone's face, it means that

:07:27. > :07:31.if you get one of those lines slightly wrong, the face looks

:07:31. > :07:39.wrong. There is an amazing twist at the end. We are not allowed to

:07:39. > :07:45.reveal it. So make sure you watch on Christmas Eve.

:07:45. > :07:48.Thank you. Lots of you will have been acting this week in your

:07:49. > :07:58.school Christmas play. You have been on the website telling us

:07:59. > :08:16.

:08:16. > :08:21.which part you played. Here are Finally, check out these lovely

:08:21. > :08:25.lion cubs. The pair have been named after Olympic superstars Victoria

:08:25. > :08:29.Pendleton and Jessica Ennis. Victoria went along to Knowsley

:08:29. > :08:34.Safari Park to visit the animals. We caught up with her. It is such

:08:34. > :08:38.an honour that somebody chose my name to name a tiny lion cub in the

:08:38. > :08:42.UK. When I found out I was like, "Is it true?" I have been wanting

:08:42. > :08:45.to come here and see them ever since. I have got up very close and

:08:45. > :08:49.seen them in real-life. That is it from us for now. It is the last
