:00:00. > :00:00.Morning, everyone, I'm Leah live on CBBC

:00:00. > :00:11.Can you guess what's new about this plucky duck?

:00:12. > :00:24.And stayed tuned for the fastest snowboarder in Britain.

:00:25. > :00:27.First this morning, we're starting with panda poo at Edinburgh Zoo.

:00:28. > :00:33.Sunshine and Sweetie arrived in Edinburgh from China in 2011.

:00:34. > :00:42.We were all gripped by panda fever as the nation waited to find out

:00:43. > :00:45.if there was going to be a panda pregnancy or not.

:00:46. > :00:47.Now they are taking part in a project

:00:48. > :00:49.a little less glamorous and a lot more smelly.

:00:50. > :00:53.collected and investigated as part

:00:54. > :01:01.of a project to understand more about the animals' eating habits.

:01:02. > :01:09.We need to understand exactly which species of bamboo that pandas in the

:01:10. > :01:13.wild are eating. The first place to start all that is with the two

:01:14. > :01:17.panacea. At the moment, we are gathering won one from each panda

:01:18. > :01:20.once-a-day -- one poo. Next off to the lab to investigate

:01:21. > :01:24.the poo a bit more closely. So after the poo has been collected,

:01:25. > :01:28.it comes here to be analysed - Once we get it from the zoo,

:01:29. > :01:31.it looks like this. We take this and we go

:01:32. > :01:34.through a process to extract the DNA DNA is basically the building block

:01:35. > :01:39.of life, every single thing has it and we look at that to try and tell

:01:40. > :01:42.apart which different species It's not just the pandas

:01:43. > :02:02.at Edinburgh zoo that We are going to be looking at wild

:02:03. > :02:05.pandas in China and hopefully finding samples they have left

:02:06. > :02:07.behind for us and it will give us all sort of information about what

:02:08. > :02:11.sort of things pandas are eating. It's really hard to work out

:02:12. > :02:15.what giant pandas are eating, which makes it really difficult

:02:16. > :02:18.for places like the zoo to make sure they are feeding them

:02:19. > :02:20.exactly what they need. We are really excited that,

:02:21. > :02:22.by working out exactly what they are eating,

:02:23. > :02:23.we can actually help not only conserve them in the wild but also

:02:24. > :02:27.hopefully help Edinburgh zoo breed Even though looking into panda poo

:02:28. > :02:31.might be a bit smelly, and even seem a bit strange,

:02:32. > :02:33.it shows that eating the right stuff is important

:02:34. > :02:36.for all of us to stay And the results might even

:02:37. > :02:39.help Edinburgh Zoo breed Now this is Phillip the duck

:02:40. > :02:48.and he's just been given a brand He was rescued in the US but vets

:02:49. > :02:53.couldn't save his feet. A tech teacher made some

:02:54. > :02:56.new flippers with his class. Phillip is now being looked

:02:57. > :03:01.after at an animal sanctuary. Next, taking part in

:03:02. > :03:03.after-school clubs can help That's what new research

:03:04. > :03:08.out today says. So we asked some of you how

:03:09. > :03:10.after-school activities make Throughout the day, if you've got

:03:11. > :03:17.an after-school club, like, you are focusing on that and it makes

:03:18. > :03:21.you happy to know that after school, you're going to be doing sports

:03:22. > :03:25.instead of just maybe sitting around, watching

:03:26. > :03:28.telly in your house. When you go to after-school clubs,

:03:29. > :03:30.you are like spending time with your friends and having

:03:31. > :03:33.a bit of a mess around. It motivates me to do

:03:34. > :03:43.better in my work so that the day ends

:03:44. > :03:45.faster and I can get It helps me relax after a hard day

:03:46. > :03:50.at school but I haven't had After-school, I think it is fun

:03:51. > :03:57.because you get to spend a lot of the day in class and then some time

:03:58. > :04:01.outside with your friends. So that's what they think -

:04:02. > :04:04.but what about you? Do you go to a club at the end

:04:05. > :04:06.of the day? Get online and give us your

:04:07. > :04:11.views on this. In the Premier League,

:04:12. > :04:12.Newcastle United could only manage a point against

:04:13. > :04:16.Manchester City last night. City took the lead at St James Park

:04:17. > :04:22.with this Sergio Aguero header. But Newcastle managed to hit

:04:23. > :04:24.back before half time. 1-1 the final score but Newcastle

:04:25. > :04:29.remain two points from safety. And finally, want to see the fastest

:04:30. > :04:34.snowboarder in Britain? This is Jamie Barrow reaching more

:04:35. > :04:38.than 94mph in the French Alps. It's a new British record,

:04:39. > :04:41.but if you think that's impressive, he didn't come close

:04:42. > :04:43.to the world record, held by the Frenchman Edmond Plawczyk,

:04:44. > :04:51.who went at over 126mph last year. Newsround's back right

:04:52. > :04:59.here in about half an hour
