:00:19. > :00:24.Hello, and welcome to Newsround. Me and Joe have got all the headlines
:00:24. > :00:30.from around the world today. Yep, we've got the news, sport, showbiz
:00:30. > :00:34.and a couple of weird stories as well! Here's what's coming up: Find
:00:34. > :00:44.out why you might be seeing more goals from girls. And the sorry,
:00:44. > :00:46.
:00:46. > :00:48.sorry song from our deputy prime First up, in the last few hours an
:00:48. > :00:51.inquiry into the Grand National, Britain's biggest horse race, has
:00:51. > :00:54.recommended several changes to prevent any more horses from dying.
:00:54. > :00:57.Animal rights groups were unhappy after two horses died and lots of
:00:57. > :01:03.other were hurt in this year's race. BBC Sport Correspondent Andy Swiss
:01:03. > :01:08.has been taking a more detailed look at the report and joins us now.
:01:08. > :01:12.What has this report say? The race is always started next to the
:01:12. > :01:16.grandstand. They are moving it further away from the grandstand so
:01:16. > :01:20.the horses feel happier and are much more calm and can run better.
:01:20. > :01:23.Of course, the Grand National, everybody talks about the huge
:01:24. > :01:27.fences. They are not changing the size of the fences but they are
:01:27. > :01:31.changing what they are made of, which is a more flexible material,
:01:31. > :01:35.a bit more soft. Should the horses hit the fence they have a better
:01:35. > :01:41.chance of getting over. For all its stock horses dying in this race?
:01:41. > :01:44.That is what we hope. Everybody hopes it will make a difference.
:01:44. > :01:48.Horse welfare groups say this is not enough. What they wanted to see
:01:48. > :01:51.was the number of runners in the race cut. There were 40 in this
:01:52. > :01:54.year's race and they say there was too many but horses were bumping
:01:54. > :01:57.into each other and causing accidents but the numbers have not
:01:57. > :02:02.been cut. Organisers say it will make a difference. Does more need
:02:02. > :02:05.to be done in the future? It is a very tough one. What people have
:02:05. > :02:08.about the Grand National is that it is a huge challenge and it is a
:02:08. > :02:12.long course and the ultimate test for a horse. That is why millions
:02:12. > :02:16.around the world watch it. But you have to balance that with keeping
:02:16. > :02:26.the horses say. Fingers crossed they have got it right. Thank you,
:02:26. > :02:37.
:02:37. > :02:41.What year it has been for British women sports with the Olympic and
:02:41. > :02:45.Paralympic heroes. Bat has been leading to a call for more heroes
:02:45. > :02:49.to be on our screens. This summer it has all been about girl power.
:02:49. > :02:53.From Ellie Simmonds in the pool to Nicola Adams in the ring. Women's
:02:53. > :03:01.sport has never looked so good. And we could be seeing a lot more of it
:03:01. > :03:05.on our screens. I always thought it would be a good Olympic games for
:03:05. > :03:10.women, and the Paralympics was very good for women as well. But I was
:03:10. > :03:13.really heartened by the fact that people wanted to know more and
:03:13. > :03:18.people were asking why we had not seen these women before. Where had
:03:18. > :03:22.they been for the last four years? Good question. Why had we not seen
:03:23. > :03:26.them before. When it comes to sport, TV bosses say it is about demand.
:03:26. > :03:31.Last night almost one million people tuned in to watch the
:03:31. > :03:34.English women beat Croatia. It sounds like a big audience, but for
:03:35. > :03:38.0.7 million watched Real Madrid verses Manchester City and it was
:03:38. > :03:41.watched by 16 times more fans in the stadium. So the Olympics have
:03:41. > :03:45.changed things, but there's a long way to go until the girls catch up
:03:45. > :03:49.with the boys. And the government are keen to make this happen. The
:03:49. > :03:52.minister in charge of Culture, Media and Sport has written to
:03:52. > :03:56.broadcasters urging them to not cut their coverage of women's teams now
:03:56. > :04:00.the Olympics are over. On the BBC there's definitely room for new
:04:00. > :04:03.sports. Over the past the is the network has lost the rights to show
:04:03. > :04:08.some of the big stuff like live Premier League games, cricketer and
:04:08. > :04:11.Horseracing. Earlier this week the new head of the BBC, George
:04:11. > :04:15.Entwistle said he would like to make the most of growing interest
:04:15. > :04:21.in the women's sport and look at showing more of it. If the coverage
:04:21. > :04:28.increases, it is hoped the interest in goalscoring girls will go
:04:28. > :04:31.through the roof. Other news now, and scientists say sea ice in the
:04:31. > :04:34.arctic has melted to an all time low. The ice melts every summer
:04:34. > :04:37.before freezing again when it gets colder. But figures just released
:04:37. > :04:41.show this year's melt has reached a new record. An area 12 times the
:04:41. > :04:46.size of the UK has disappeared. Last week we brought you a report
:04:46. > :04:48.on protests in the Middle East in which 30 people died. Muslims there
:04:48. > :04:52.were unhappy about a video made in America, representing the prophet
:04:52. > :04:55.Mohammed in a way that they thought was offensive. Now, there are
:04:55. > :05:01.worries over tensions rising again, as a magazine in Europe has
:05:01. > :05:05.published pictures making fun of Security forces around the world
:05:05. > :05:10.are on high alert, and all because of a cartoon published in a
:05:10. > :05:13.magazine. These new images make fun of Muslim protests that took place
:05:13. > :05:16.last week, and they show pictures of the prophet Mohammed that have
:05:16. > :05:19.been described as offensive. But the people who make the magazine
:05:19. > :05:28.say the cartoons are just a joke. They say their magazine makes fun
:05:28. > :05:32.of all religions, and they have a right to continue. When we attack
:05:32. > :05:38.the Catholic hard right, nobody talks about a bit we cannot make
:05:38. > :05:40.fun of the Muslim hardliners. It is a new rule and we will not obey it.
:05:40. > :05:43.Stopping magazines and newspapers saying what they like worries some
:05:43. > :05:46.people. They think that everyone should have the freedom to say what
:05:46. > :05:49.they like. But other people say that when it comes to religion,
:05:49. > :05:52.it's too offensive to joke about. France has the largest Muslim
:05:52. > :05:55.community in the European Union. One in ten people there follow the
:05:55. > :05:58.religion, but while reaction within the community has been furious,
:05:58. > :06:05.French religious heads have been quick to ask for a peaceful
:06:05. > :06:08.understanding. We expressed to him the indignation felt by Muslims
:06:08. > :06:11.following a series of provocations but we have always tell the
:06:11. > :06:16.minister of our peaceful intentions and we will not give in to such a
:06:16. > :06:20.tanks. -- such attacks. Here in Britain, people make fun of people
:06:20. > :06:25.in the news, like this cartoon of George Osborne and Nick Clegg. But
:06:25. > :06:29.many people think that a line is crossed when it comes to religion.
:06:29. > :06:32.In France, it's the same as in the UK. People are allowed the right of
:06:32. > :06:34.speech but we also consider it a crime to encouraging religious
:06:34. > :06:38.hatred. Protests haven't begun yet over these images, and the French
:06:38. > :06:48.authorities are on high alert just in case, but its hoped they will be
:06:48. > :06:49.
:06:49. > :06:52.able to sort their differences out peacefully.. Now we've all heard of
:06:52. > :06:55.posh restaurants set up by celebrity chefs like Jamie Oliver
:06:55. > :07:03.and Gordon Ramsey. But there's a brand place opening near Cardiff
:07:03. > :07:07.that's grabbing the headlines today. The restaurant is run by prisoners.
:07:07. > :07:10.The idea behind it is to give inmates new skills for their life
:07:10. > :07:13.after prison. There's one in Surrey already and the plan is to create
:07:13. > :07:16.two more every year. Some people say the 12-a-week wage is too low
:07:16. > :07:20.but the inmates say working in the restaurant is great. It's the first
:07:20. > :07:30.time I've ever had a proper job so it's a good experience. Before
:07:30. > :07:30.
:07:31. > :07:33.prison I was leading the easy life, but now you have to work for it.
:07:33. > :07:37.You might think Robbie Williams would be pretty happy after the
:07:37. > :07:40.birth of his baby daughter Teddy this week. But it turns out the ex-
:07:40. > :07:43.Take That singer has set his sights on another landmark - getting a
:07:43. > :07:46.knighthood. He says he wants to top the special OBE award former
:07:46. > :07:52.bandmate Gary Barlow got from the Queen for organising her Jubilee
:07:52. > :07:56.concert earlier this year. Now that Gary has got an OBE, I have to go
:07:56. > :08:01.for a knighthood. Don't bother sending me any other stuff up, your
:08:01. > :08:05.Majesty. Just the night could well do, thank you. They are always at
:08:05. > :08:09.it, those two. -- just the knighthood will do. Finally, most
:08:09. > :08:12.theme park rides last for a measly minute at most but these guys got
:08:12. > :08:15.their money's more and a lot more. For four hours these Californians
:08:15. > :08:23.were stranded more than 100 metres in the air. Eventually they were
:08:23. > :08:26.all let down, bored but unhurt. It is not often you hear a politician
:08:26. > :08:30.say they are sorry, so rare that when Nick Clegg squeezed out an
:08:30. > :08:38.apology yesterday that someone got all creative and turned it into a
:08:38. > :08:42.song. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. He has given permission
:08:42. > :08:45.for the pranksters to make the song. He said sorry for the pledge he
:08:45. > :08:49.made to future students about how much money they would pay to go to
:08:49. > :08:52.university. The clever remixes been released as a single with money
