0:00:11 > 0:00:13Hi, I'm Ricky and this is Newsround.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16Last night the third and final debate took place between

0:00:16 > 0:00:20Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

0:00:20 > 0:00:20Both candidates want to be President of the United States.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25The debate was pretty bad tempered.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28Mr Trump called Mrs Clinton a "nasty woman".

0:00:28 > 0:00:31He also refused to answer a question about whether he would accept

0:00:31 > 0:00:34the result of the election if he doesn't win.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36Clinton said that Trump was a "Puppet" for

0:00:36 > 0:00:38the Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41The vote takes place on the 8th of November.

0:00:41 > 0:00:45Next up, we're still waiting to hear what happened to a probe that

0:00:45 > 0:00:47scientists sent to land on Mars.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50The European Space Agency say the signal from the Schiaparelli

0:00:50 > 0:00:53lander disappeared just before it was due to touch down

0:00:53 > 0:00:55on the red planet yesterday.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Scientists say they haven't yet written off the craft,

0:00:57 > 0:01:04but the signs aren't good.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Thousands of people are trying to escape from one of Iraq's biggest

0:01:07 > 0:01:10cities ahead of huge battle expected to take place there.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13The Iraqi army is trying to take back control of the city of Mosul

0:01:13 > 0:01:16from the group that calls itself Islamic State.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18Charities say families and children are likely

0:01:18 > 0:01:22to be among the most affected.

0:01:22 > 0:01:27Here's what you need to know.

0:01:27 > 0:01:33Iraq, a country in the Middle East next to Syria.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36The second largest city in Iraq, Mosul, is controlled

0:01:36 > 0:01:43by the extremist Islamist group that calls itself Islamic State.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Islamic State has killed a lot of people in Iraq and Syria.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50It has also been behind deadly attacks around the world, including

0:01:50 > 0:01:53the Paris attacks in France.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56When they first started fighting, Islamic State took over

0:01:56 > 0:01:59lots of land and cities in Iraq, and the Iraqi government

0:01:59 > 0:02:02asked for help.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04A couple of years ago, some countries including the UK

0:02:04 > 0:02:08and the US began dropping bombs to help the Iraqi army

0:02:08 > 0:02:13fight back against Islamic State.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15It worked.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18The Iraqi army began to win back big cities and they had been planning

0:02:18 > 0:02:21to take back Mosul for a long time.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Now the battle has started with 30,000 army troops

0:02:25 > 0:02:30and small groups of fighters from the area.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33Mosul is important because it is the last big city

0:02:33 > 0:02:36that Islamic State controls in Iraq.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40So if IS loses control of Mosul, it could mean an important step

0:02:40 > 0:02:46to ending their rule over large parts of Iraq and Syria.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49But charities are worried about how the fighting will affect

0:02:49 > 0:02:53more than half a million children and their families in the area.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57Right now there are half a million children trapped inside Mosul

0:02:57 > 0:03:00and parents have an impossible decision to make.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04Either they stay and they risk being killed by bombs and bullets,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06or they try to leave.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08So what we need now are safe escape routes for children

0:03:08 > 0:03:11and their families to escape from the fighting.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14Right now, at reception centres in the towns near to Mosul,

0:03:14 > 0:03:18we are seeing children arrive exhausted after two days of walking

0:03:18 > 0:03:20in the desert.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22Many of these children haven't been to school for two years

0:03:22 > 0:03:25under IS rule.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29Many children have been caught up in the fighting and forced to leave.

0:03:29 > 0:03:33No one is sure how long the fighting will last for but many people hope

0:03:33 > 0:03:40they can one day return to the place that they used to call home.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43And if you want to know more about what's happening in Iraq,

0:04:00 > 0:04:01from last night.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06Manchester City on Pep Guardiola's return to his old club.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09Arsenal destroyed Bulgarian side Ludogorets 6-0, with stunning goals

0:04:09 > 0:04:16from Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott and a hat-trick from Mesut Ozil.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19In Scotland, two second-half mistakes from Kolo Toure gifted

0:04:19 > 0:04:29German team Borussia Monchengladbach a victory at Celtic.

0:04:34 > 0:04:35The GBBO is hotting up.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38That's the Great British Bake Off for those of you not in the know!

0:04:38 > 0:04:39Spoiler alert here!

0:04:39 > 0:04:44If you're planning on watching later then look away now!

0:04:44 > 0:04:46Last night saw the end of super-chilled Selasi.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49Let's take a look at the three contenders to win the baking crown.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52From 12 hopeful bakers down to three aspiring Mary Berrys,

0:04:52 > 0:04:55the Great British Bake Off is entering its final stage.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57Let's take a closer look at the final three.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59First up is Candice Brown.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02She's already clocked up three Star Baker wins, more than any

0:05:02 > 0:05:04of the other finalists.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07Best bake, this striking peacock show stopper she created

0:05:07 > 0:05:10in the quarterfinals has made her race firm favourite

0:05:10 > 0:05:16to win the baking crown.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18But Candice did falter when her cheesy fish pies leaked.

0:05:18 > 0:05:20Next up, Andrew Smith, a jet engine designer

0:05:20 > 0:05:22from Northern Ireland.

0:05:22 > 0:05:25He was flying in dessert week with his ice cream mousse cakes

0:05:25 > 0:05:27on a Ferris wheel.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29But Mary and Paul were not so impressed with

0:05:29 > 0:05:32his plain cake in botanical week.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35And last, but by no means least, Jane Beedle, the first to win

0:05:35 > 0:05:39Star Baker and she has been pretty consistent ever since.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42But has she got enough to wow the judges in the final?

0:05:42 > 0:05:44I think this is pretty tricky for them.

0:05:44 > 0:05:50Made the best baker win.

0:05:50 > 0:05:53And head online to let us know who you think should win.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56That's all from me, Newsround's back here this afternoon with Martin.
