:00:00. > :00:09.Hi, I have Friday's biggest stories. Coming up: Find out if it was gold
:00:10. > :00:13.for Team GB's curlers. And your dog knows a lot more about
:00:14. > :00:19.you than you think! This is Newsround.
:00:20. > :00:21.First to the Winter Olympics in Sochi, where in the last hour the
:00:22. > :00:27.men's curling final has come to a close. And I can tell you that after
:00:28. > :00:32.trying their best they were beaten 9-3 by Canada and walked away with
:00:33. > :00:45.the silver medal. The game lasted just over two hours but in the end
:00:46. > :00:56.the Canadians were just too strong. Close. That is what this game is all
:00:57. > :01:05.about. Catch the Canadian stone. Enough is enough. The Canadians have
:01:06. > :01:10.delivered. And that curling medal was the first
:01:11. > :01:13.to be won by Team GB's men in the entire competition. All of the other
:01:14. > :01:16.medals, including a gold by Lizzy Yarnold, have been won by the
:01:17. > :01:19.nation's female Olympians. Despite the success, the minister in charge
:01:20. > :01:22.of sport, Helen Grant, has said that girls should be encouraged to take
:01:23. > :01:26.up "feminine" sports like ballet or rounders to keep them interested in
:01:27. > :01:29.sport. She thinks that some girls are put off activities like football
:01:30. > :01:33.because they think they're not very "girly". But is it fair to say some
:01:34. > :01:37.girls would find "feminine" sports more appealing? Leah's been finding
:01:38. > :01:40.out more. Whether it's dominating the slopes
:01:41. > :01:44.at Sochi, darting across a dirt track on the BMX or bossing it in
:01:45. > :01:50.the boxing ring, women have always been at the top of their game in all
:01:51. > :01:53.types of sport. Despite that, there are currently 1.8 million fewer
:01:54. > :02:00.women than men that take part in regular sport. And it's cheerleading
:02:01. > :02:04.classes like this one the sports minister Helen Grant says more girls
:02:05. > :02:16.should be encouraged to do if football, BMX or boxing aren't for
:02:17. > :02:20.them. Girls should do boys sport because they want to and boys can do
:02:21. > :02:27.girls fought as well. It is up to you what you want to do. I love lots
:02:28. > :02:30.of sport and I think it would be nice for boys and girls to be equal.
:02:31. > :02:34.It's sports like boxing that could be seen as unfeminine which means
:02:35. > :02:38.it's not very girly. But this lot love nothing more than getting in
:02:39. > :02:44.the ring with their mates. You are taking part and having fun, that is
:02:45. > :02:50.all that matters. If you try to get people into sports, they might find
:02:51. > :02:53.out they liked it. You've been telling us on the website that you
:02:54. > :02:56.think girls can play any type of sport they like, whether it's
:02:57. > :03:00.snowboarding or football. Most of you think it doesn't make you less
:03:01. > :03:02.feminine because the most important thing is you just enjoy what you're
:03:03. > :03:06.doing. Your comments have been coming in
:03:07. > :03:07.thick and fast. Celia in Surrey takes part in gymnastics,
:03:08. > :03:24.roller-skating and ballet. Next to a new development in
:03:25. > :03:27.Ukraine, where the man in charge, Viktor Yanukovych, has agreed to
:03:28. > :03:30.hold a vote to decide who runs the country before the end of the year.
:03:31. > :03:34.Opposition leaders spent hours trying to come up with an agreement
:03:35. > :03:37.and it's hoped the deal will go some way to ending the crisis in the
:03:38. > :03:41.country. Thousands of people have been protesting over how the country
:03:42. > :03:45.is making decisions about its future and 77 people have died in clashes
:03:46. > :03:48.since Tuesday. The opposition has not spoken about the deal and it's
:03:49. > :03:53.unclear whether protesters will back it.
:03:54. > :03:56.If you want to know more about the crisis in Ukraine, there's a guide
:03:57. > :04:00.on our website. And if you've been upset by this or any other story you
:04:01. > :04:03.hear in the news, there's advice there as well.
:04:04. > :04:06.Now, many of you have told us in the past how you think your pets can
:04:07. > :04:10.understand you. A group of scientists say when it comes to dogs
:04:11. > :04:13.this could be true after carrying out an experiment on our canine
:04:14. > :04:17.chums. A team in Hungary trained these guys to sit very still while
:04:18. > :04:20.they used special scanners to look at their brains. They found that
:04:21. > :04:23.dogs' brains react similar to how human brains do, when they hear
:04:24. > :04:26.certain sounds. The scientists discovered that the same part of a
:04:27. > :04:30.dog's brain lights up as a human's, when they hear sounds. They both
:04:31. > :04:34.process human voices using the same part of the brain. And this happens
:04:35. > :04:38.when they hear emotional sounds too, like crying and laughter. The
:04:39. > :04:42.researchers say this suggests our dogs do understand how we are
:04:43. > :04:48.feeling! So just be careful what you say in front of your furry friends
:04:49. > :04:52.next time! That's all from me, but if you're a
:04:53. > :04:56.1D fan and want to know what makes the boys such a global success you
:04:57. > :04:58.need to head over to the Newsround website right now. That's where I'm
:04:59. > :05:03.going. See ya!
