0:00:00 > 0:00:00what's new with you. Right now, here's New... BOTH:..sround.

0:00:00 > 0:00:01It does work.

0:00:12 > 0:00:16Hi, Martin here with your Wednesday Newsround.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19At this year's Winter games in South Korea,

0:00:19 > 0:00:23Menna Fitzpatrick and her guide Jen Kehoe became the most succesful

0:00:23 > 0:00:25British Winter Paralympians ever.

0:00:25 > 0:00:33They got a gold, two silvers and a bronze.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36And they have brought their medals to visitors here.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38First, let's see them in action on the slopes in Pyeongchang.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40Menna Fitzpatrick, she's giving herself every opportunity

0:00:40 > 0:00:44for a piece of history here for Great Britain.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Still driving, still turning.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Care here on this last tricky section.

0:00:49 > 0:00:50Watch the clock.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53She's in front by a second and a half.

0:00:53 > 0:00:57So too is Menna Fitzpatrick.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00That was an absolutely brilliant second half of the run.

0:01:00 > 0:01:10Great Britain will hit their target of seven medals.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15Jen, Menna, congratulations, great result. Can we just see your medals

0:01:15 > 0:01:22very quickly?They look really big. They are really heavy.I bet,

0:01:22 > 0:01:27because you have only got four! How does it feel to be Britain's most

0:01:27 > 0:01:32successful winter Paralympian is?It definitely hasn't sunk in yet, we

0:01:32 > 0:01:38came home two days ago and it has been nonstop, feet haven't touched

0:01:38 > 0:01:43the ground.A bit of a whirlwind. Can we talk about the performance

0:01:43 > 0:01:46that won the gold medal, what was so different about that performance on

0:01:46 > 0:01:51the day and made it a gold medal winning performance? We just went

0:01:51 > 0:01:59out there to have fun and do what we do best, which is skee.Ski fast!

0:01:59 > 0:02:03And we worked really well as a team, the communication was really

0:02:03 > 0:02:11perfect.We just worked as one. Brilliant. Menna, can I ask you a

0:02:11 > 0:02:14quick question, for anyone watching your discipline, it is exhilarating

0:02:14 > 0:02:19and exciting and also, that someone like me, quite scary. You have a

0:02:19 > 0:02:25visual impairment, how do you do it? Jen wears a bright orange jacket in

0:02:25 > 0:02:29front of her so I am basically following the jacket and the outline

0:02:29 > 0:02:34of Jen and trying to stick in her line, when she is telling me what to

0:02:34 > 0:02:38turn, what the slope is doing, what the snow is doing, trying to paint a

0:02:38 > 0:02:42picture in my head. You must have to have quite a good relationship, you

0:02:42 > 0:02:48must be good at skiing, Jen.I learned when I was nine, living in

0:02:48 > 0:02:52schizo and and I learned to ski race in the British Army and that is how

0:02:52 > 0:02:56I got into guiding -- living in Switzerland. And we trained really

0:02:56 > 0:03:01hard together, you need to work together as a team and some of the

0:03:01 > 0:03:04best teams in the world have worked together for a really long time and

0:03:04 > 0:03:09get to know each other.Does it feel different now, Menna, that you have

0:03:09 > 0:03:15the gold medal?It does, I still can't quite believe it. I walked

0:03:15 > 0:03:21through Euston station this morning and the girl said, "Oh, my God, it's

0:03:21 > 0:03:27from the TV!"How does that feel?It feels a bit strange and a bit

0:03:27 > 0:03:33embarrassing, her mum was going... Because she was shouting quite

0:03:33 > 0:03:38loudly. But it is a very surreal experience.Thank you very much

0:03:38 > 0:03:43coming in, it has been an absolute pleasure. Can we just see the medals

0:03:43 > 0:03:50again? I think everybody would love to see them there is the goal. Guys,

0:03:50 > 0:03:55that is perfect, well done, congratulations.

0:03:55 > 0:04:00From two amazing sports people to another and if you had to attempt a

0:04:00 > 0:04:03world record, what would you do? I would need lots of chocolate within

0:04:03 > 0:04:08a minute but one man in Australia just wanted to swim, but there is

0:04:08 > 0:04:12something pretty remarkable about him.

0:04:12 > 0:04:15Take your mark, get ready, go.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18This is George.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21He's attempting to set a new world record at 99 years old.

0:04:21 > 0:04:24Whoa!

0:04:24 > 0:04:27He's attempting to set the record for the fastest

0:04:27 > 0:04:3050m freestyle swimmer in the 100-104 age category.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33Although he's 99, he's been allowed to enter because

0:04:33 > 0:04:39his 100th birthday is next month.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43Come on, Georgie boy.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46So he is past the halfway mark.

0:04:46 > 0:04:51George used to swim a lot when he was younger,

0:04:51 > 0:04:54but he gave it up and only started again at the age of 80.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56Go yersel', Georgie boy!

0:04:56 > 0:04:58Come on, Georgie.

0:04:58 > 0:05:03Come on, let's rev him up, let's go, folks.

0:05:03 > 0:05:07He finished the race and clocked 56.12 seconds -

0:05:07 > 0:05:10which is 35 seconds faster than the previous record

0:05:10 > 0:05:13set four years ago.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15Officials now need to verify the record before

0:05:15 > 0:05:17it is made official.

0:05:17 > 0:05:18So how's he feeling?

0:05:18 > 0:05:20Thank you very much.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22He's exhausted!

0:05:22 > 0:05:30Well done, George, you absolute legend.

0:05:31 > 0:05:33Finally - a big day for this little guy.

0:05:33 > 0:05:37The first polar bear to be born in the UK in 25 years will make it's

0:05:37 > 0:05:39first public appearance today.

0:05:39 > 0:05:40The cute cub lives at the Royal Zoological Society's

0:05:40 > 0:05:42Highland Wildlife Park in Scotland.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45After spending the first four months of its life in private with its mum,

0:05:45 > 0:05:51the time has come for it to venture out of the den and explore.

0:05:51 > 0:05:52So cute.

0:05:52 > 0:05:57That's all for now from Newsround.

0:05:57 > 0:06:05We are back at 4:20pm. Have a good day at school.
