0:00:52 > 0:00:54whether this information might have helped Donald Trump get elected

0:01:01 > 0:01:04Ok, it might all sound a bit weird, but bear with us.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Knowing someone's personality, what they like and what they don't

0:01:06 > 0:01:09like, might tell us more about them ? including, for adults,

0:01:13 > 0:01:17And that might help politicians work out how to target particular

0:01:17 > 0:01:20voters over social media. Now it's claimed that a company

0:01:20 > 0:01:23called Cambridge Analytica used information from a Facebook

0:01:23 > 0:01:27personality quiz to find out about the personalities of thousands

0:01:27 > 0:01:31of people who took the quiz.

0:01:31 > 0:01:36They also got info on millions of their online friends as well.

0:01:36 > 0:01:42And it's also been claimed that Cambridge Analytica

0:01:42 > 0:01:43used this information about their personalities

0:01:43 > 0:01:45without their permission to help the campaigns of politicians,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47including Donald Trump.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49But there are rules which mean companies like this should be very

0:01:49 > 0:01:53careful about what they do with our information.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56The claims about Cambridge Analytica and Facebook are now

0:01:56 > 0:01:58being investigated.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01Cambridge Analytica says it didn't do anything wrong and it only uses

0:02:01 > 0:02:07information which has been taken legally and fairly.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10Facebook says it's made changes to try and stop this happening again

0:02:10 > 0:02:17and is also carrying out its own investigation.
