:02:55. > :02:59.That's according to scientists in the United States who have been

:03:00. > :03:05.They believe the shark's growing numbers are due

:03:06. > :03:08.to conservation efforts and greater availability of food.

:03:09. > :03:11.Some experts think the population of white sharks in the area is now

:03:12. > :03:18.Cars that spy on other cars might sound

:03:19. > :03:24.These spy cars aren't being used for anything that exciting,

:03:25. > :03:29.But now many of them are being banned after

:03:30. > :03:37.The cars work by filming a car parked illegally and, without

:03:38. > :03:41.any warning, a fine of up to ?80 would be sent to the owner's house.

:03:42. > :03:44.Lots of people said that councils were issuing them too often

:03:45. > :03:47.and that too many fines were being sent in the post.

:03:48. > :03:50.But many councils say that the CCTV cars are to help pedestrians

:03:51. > :03:57.From now on, the cars will only be used

:03:58. > :04:02.near schools and on bus lanes and instead traffic wardens will have to

:04:03. > :04:12.So you won't see as many around, but maybe we can send them to

:04:13. > :04:17.somewhere like Gotham City - Batman is sure to make better use of them.

:04:18. > :04:20.If you had the chance to solve a big problem in the world,

:04:21. > :04:23.The Longitude Prize is a huge science challenge

:04:24. > :04:26.and voting is taking place to decide which of the six big world problems

:04:27. > :04:28.scientists should tackle for a chance to win ?10 million.

:04:29. > :04:31.This week we've been looking at the six big issues.

:04:32. > :04:33.Today, it's how can we fly without damaging the environment?

:04:34. > :04:45.Many scientists say if we want to avoid dangerous climate change we

:04:46. > :04:48.need to cut down the carbon emissions we release into the air by

:04:49. > :04:52.a huge amount. There is no single solution, but there is one type of

:04:53. > :04:57.transport that releases lots and lots of carbon emissions, air

:04:58. > :05:02.travel. Scientists have to find an alternative way to power planes.

:05:03. > :05:07.There aren't many solutions yet, but this plane, made by a steeple in

:05:08. > :05:12.Eastern Europe, is one of the most eco-friendly in the world. This

:05:13. > :05:17.plane uses no fuel to fly. In fact it has batteries, which you charge,

:05:18. > :05:22.just like a mobile phone, it uses an electric motor to produce thrust to

:05:23. > :05:25.take off and stay in the air. It doesn't release harmful gases into

:05:26. > :05:31.the atmosphere. It's really green. We see a lot of electric cars today,

:05:32. > :05:34.why not electric planes? Batteries are the heavy bit in the vehicle.

:05:35. > :05:40.When it comes to aeroplanes you need to lift it up into the sky. The

:05:41. > :05:46.battery for 100 passenger aeroplane would be way too big with current

:05:47. > :05:50.technology. Scientists will have to build a plane that can go from

:05:51. > :05:57.London to Edinburgh at similar speeds to today's planes, but with

:05:58. > :06:00.almost no carbon emissions. That's all from me. Newsround is back in

:06:01. > :06:01.the morning. See you
