0:00:06 > 0:00:07Morning, guys!

0:00:07 > 0:00:11It's Monday, I'm Martin and this is Newsround.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13Loads coming up today...

0:00:13 > 0:00:15We catch up with two of Team GB'S Winter Olympics hopefuls.

0:00:15 > 0:00:19The tiger cubs showing their faces for the first time.

0:00:19 > 0:00:27And, Minnie Mouse gets a long-overdue award.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43First, if you're a big fan of sports like skiing, snowboarding,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45and ice hockey then you'll probably be very excited that

0:00:45 > 0:00:47there's now just 17 days until the Winter Olympics begins

0:00:47 > 0:00:48in South Korea.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51And this morning we've caught up with two of Team

0:00:51 > 0:00:52GB's skeleton racers.

0:00:52 > 0:00:53But what is skeleton?

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Well, reigning Olympic champion Lizzy Yarnold

0:00:55 > 0:00:56and first-timer Laura Deas, who are both heading

0:00:56 > 0:00:57to the Games, explained.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00The skeleton sled is what we lie on to go down the track.

0:01:00 > 0:01:04It weighs about 30 kilos so it's really heavy,

0:01:04 > 0:01:07and it's about this tall from the ground, so it's quite big.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10And it's called the skeleton because inside there

0:01:10 > 0:01:13is a basic steel structure, a bar at the top and two

0:01:13 > 0:01:16bars down the side.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19The top one's like your shoulders, the sides ones are like your spine,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22then there's a bar at the bottom, like a human skeleton.

0:01:22 > 0:01:27You both did different sports before skeleton -

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Lizzie, I think you did heptathlon and, Laura, you were equestrian?

0:01:30 > 0:01:38How do you go from that to being on the ice?

0:01:42 > 0:01:45We both came through a UK Sport scheme called Girls For Gold

0:01:45 > 0:01:48in 2009, which was designed to find athletes who might be suitable

0:01:48 > 0:01:50for several different Olympic sports and skeleton was one of them,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53so we both went through selection trials not necessarily knowing

0:01:53 > 0:01:56what we might be best suited for, then we were asked to try skeleton

0:01:56 > 0:02:01and went from there, really.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Laura, this is your first Olympics, how are you feeling?

0:02:04 > 0:02:06It's really exciting, because I've been doing this sport

0:02:06 > 0:02:08for nine years now and this has always been my goal,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11so to finally be on the plane to Pyeongchang next week

0:02:11 > 0:02:14is really exciting.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Lizzie, how are you feeling?

0:02:16 > 0:02:18It's crazy, because if you told ten-year-old me that I would be

0:02:18 > 0:02:20selected for my second Winter Olympic Games,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22I would not have believed you!

0:02:22 > 0:02:25So I can't wait to go out there, defend my title and do my absolute

0:02:25 > 0:02:30best, and enjoy the Winter Olympics.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33Thank you for coming in, good luck!

0:02:33 > 0:02:35And if you want to know more about what's happening

0:02:35 > 0:02:37at the Winter Olympics, head to Newsround online,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40where you can find out everything you need to know about the Games,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42the mascots, and plenty of info about the differernt

0:02:42 > 0:02:46sports involved.

0:02:46 > 0:02:53Say hello to five Manchurian tiger cubs.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55These cuties were born in a tiger shelter in China.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58It's very rare for five cubs to be born all together,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01and they need to be keept close to mum so she can feed them

0:03:01 > 0:03:04all the milk they need to grow strong and healthy.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06Next up, we have a big question for you -

0:03:06 > 0:03:07who invented the selfie?

0:03:07 > 0:03:08Whitney's been finding out.

0:03:08 > 0:03:09Watch this.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12The selfie.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14We all take them, some of us more than others,

0:03:14 > 0:03:17but the big question is, who invented the selfie and why?

0:03:17 > 0:03:20Now, that's a really good question, John.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24A really good big question, so I've done some research and come

0:03:24 > 0:03:28up with a few answers.

0:03:28 > 0:03:32Lots of people claim to have invented the first selfie.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34Last year, celebrity Paris Hilton claimed that this picture

0:03:34 > 0:03:36was the first selfie ever taken.

0:03:36 > 0:03:38Social media were not happy about this -

0:03:38 > 0:03:40they concluded that maybe that was a bit crazy,

0:03:40 > 0:03:42and of course that she didn't.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45I can now reveal the first selfie was taken by a man named...

0:03:45 > 0:03:48Robert Cornelius.

0:03:48 > 0:03:54The 30-year-old took it outside his lamp shop in America in 1839,

0:03:54 > 0:03:57so that is who invented the selfie.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01But the word 'selfie' has a different history.

0:04:01 > 0:04:05So let's fast-forward to 2002, when the word 'selfie' was born.

0:04:05 > 0:04:09A guy in Australia took a photo of his lip that he had cut

0:04:09 > 0:04:17and wrote, "Sorry about the focus, it was a selfie."

0:04:17 > 0:04:20In Australia, I'm not sure if you know, but they tend to add

0:04:20 > 0:04:22'ies' at the end of their sentences, ie barbies, sunnies,

0:04:22 > 0:04:24so it's not that surprising, is it?

0:04:24 > 0:04:26By 2012, the word 'selfie' became widespread, and by 2013 it entered

0:04:26 > 0:04:31the dictionary and became the word of the year.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34It even has its own day in June, National Selfie Day.

0:04:34 > 0:04:42So remember that the next time you're taking a selfie.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46A bit of tennis now, and Kyle Edmund is getting ready

0:04:46 > 0:04:48for his first ever Grand Slam quarter-final after he beat

0:04:48 > 0:04:53Italy's Andreas Seppi at the Australian Open this weekend.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55The British number two got off to a slow start.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58Edmund trailed by a set but recovered well, finding his form

0:04:58 > 0:05:01and smashing 25 aces to win the match.

0:05:01 > 0:05:06He will face Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria tonight.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10And did you know that Kyle was just ten years old when he first

0:05:10 > 0:05:11started playing tennis?

0:05:11 > 0:05:13For more facts about the British tennis star, head on over

0:05:22 > 0:05:23to Newsround online.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28Minnie Mouse is finally due to receive a star

0:05:28 > 0:05:29on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32She's been in entertainment for 90 years, and many fans have

0:05:32 > 0:05:34said her star should have been there ages ago.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Mickey got his star 40 years ago and Donald Duck,
