0:00:12 > 0:00:15We catch up with two of Team GB'S Winter Olympics hopefuls.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17And...

0:00:17 > 0:00:18We all love taking them, but who actually invented the selfie?

0:00:18 > 0:00:26We'll be finding out.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35First up, if you're a big fan of sports like skiing,

0:00:35 > 0:00:40snowboarding, and ice skating, then you'll probably be very excited

0:00:40 > 0:00:43that there's now just 17 days until the Winter Olympics begins

0:00:43 > 0:00:44in South Korea.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Team GB has been announced this morning, and we caught up with two

0:00:47 > 0:00:49of our skeleton racers - Olympic champion Lizzy Yarnold

0:00:49 > 0:00:51and first-timer Laura Deas.

0:00:51 > 0:00:59They told us how much they're looking forward to the Games.

0:01:03 > 0:01:04I've been doing this sport

0:01:04 > 0:01:06for nine years now and this has always been my goal,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09so to finally be on the plane to Pyeongchang next week

0:01:09 > 0:01:10is really exciting.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13It's crazy, because if you told ten-year-old me that I would be

0:01:13 > 0:01:15selected for my second Winter Olympic Games,

0:01:15 > 0:01:16I would not have believed you!

0:01:16 > 0:01:20So, I can't wait to go out there, defend my title and do my absolute

0:01:20 > 0:01:22best, and enjoy the Winter Olympics.

0:01:22 > 0:01:32Good luck to them. Next, we have a big question for you. Who invented

0:01:32 > 0:01:38the selfie?

0:01:38 > 0:01:39The selfie.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41We all take them, some of us more than others,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44but the big question is, who invented the selfie and why?

0:01:44 > 0:01:45Now, that's a really good question, John.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48A really good big question, so I've done some research and come

0:01:48 > 0:01:49up with a few answers.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52Lots of people claim to have invented the first selfie.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54Last year, celebrity Paris Hilton claimed that this picture

0:01:54 > 0:01:55was the first selfie ever taken.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57Social media were not happy about this -

0:01:57 > 0:02:01they concluded that maybe that was a bit crazy,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04and of course, that she didn't.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07I can now reveal the first selfie was taken by a man named...

0:02:07 > 0:02:12Robert Cornelius.

0:02:12 > 0:02:16The 30 year old took it outside his lamp shop in America in 1839,

0:02:16 > 0:02:17so that is who invented the selfie.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19But the word 'selfie' has a different history.

0:02:19 > 0:02:25So let's fast-forward to 2002, when the word 'selfie' was born.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28A guy in Australia took a photo of his lip that he had cut

0:02:28 > 0:02:35and wrote, "Sorry about the focus, it was a selfie."

0:02:35 > 0:02:38In Australia, I'm not sure if you know, but they tend to add

0:02:38 > 0:02:40'ies' at the end of their sentences, ie barbies, sunnies,

0:02:40 > 0:02:46so it's not that surprising, is it?

0:02:46 > 0:02:52By 2012, the word 'selfie' became widespread, and by 2013, it entered

0:02:52 > 0:02:54the dictionary and became the Word of the Year.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57It even has its own day in June, National Selfie Day.

0:02:57 > 0:03:02So remember that the next time you're taking a selfie.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04And remember, if you want to have a chance of gettingyour

0:03:04 > 0:03:08question answered, you can head to Newsround online and send it in!

0:03:08 > 0:03:09Netball now, and England face Australia tonight

0:03:09 > 0:03:10in the Quad Series.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13It's after a busy weekend for the teams from all

0:03:13 > 0:03:14of the UK's home nations.

0:03:14 > 0:03:22Hayley's been taking a look.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30On the weekend, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland played

0:03:30 > 0:03:33their qualifying matches for next year's Netball World Cup,

0:03:33 > 0:03:37that will take place in Liverpool.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39After some gruelling matches, Northern Ireland

0:03:39 > 0:03:41secured their place, as well as Scotland.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44But unfortunately, Wales didn't manage to qualify.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47England didn't have to worry, as they automatically have a place,

0:03:47 > 0:03:51as the host nation.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54But they still had a busy weekend playing in the Quad Series,

0:03:54 > 0:03:57a tournament with four of the best teams in the world -

0:03:57 > 0:03:59England, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

0:03:59 > 0:04:05And they started with a win.

0:04:05 > 0:04:12It was a nail-biting finish to this game,

0:04:12 > 0:04:15where England beat New Zealand in extra time 64-57.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18The crowd's been really noisy, getting behind their national team.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20I can't really believe what's just happened, in a way,

0:04:20 > 0:04:22because of the extra time.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24It's a small snippet into what 2019's going to be like.

0:04:24 > 0:04:26Obviously, the World Cup launched this week for us,

0:04:26 > 0:04:28and that build-up into Liverpool.

0:04:28 > 0:04:29I think...

0:04:29 > 0:04:34I just can't wait for that moment, you know.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36Coming and playing in a home Test Series,

0:04:36 > 0:04:38with the crowd behind you, makes such a difference.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40England take on Australia here next, who are world number ones,

0:04:40 > 0:04:46but a win here now tonight has given a real boost to the national team.

0:04:46 > 0:04:47It is loud there!

0:04:47 > 0:04:49That's it from me.

0:04:49 > 0:04:50Martin's back tomorrow, at 7:40.
