:00:00. > :00:08.Hello Newsrounders. You're live with me, Jenny, for our last update of

:00:09. > :00:12.the day. And you're not going to want to miss this.

:00:13. > :00:16.Britain's curling heroes get set to receive their medals in Sochi.

:00:17. > :00:17.And the amphibious houses that could help deal with flooding in the

:00:18. > :00:27.future. First to Ukraine, a country that

:00:28. > :00:30.looks on the brink of revolution. In the capital city Kiev, there've been

:00:31. > :00:32.weeks of demonstrations against the country's president, Victor

:00:33. > :00:35.Yanukovich. Clashes between protestors and police turned more

:00:36. > :00:42.violent in the past few days, with dozens killed and many injured. But

:00:43. > :00:48.today the riot police have left and the streets are calmer. As you can

:00:49. > :00:51.see from these live pictures, protestors still line the streets of

:00:52. > :00:57.Kiev, demanding that President Yanukovich resign immediately. It

:00:58. > :01:00.seems the president has fled the capital city - his official

:01:01. > :01:03.government buildings have been abandoned. The country's former

:01:04. > :01:08.prime minister, Yulia Timoshenka, is to be released from prison after

:01:09. > :01:15.four years in jail. One thing's for certain, the protestors won't stop

:01:16. > :01:19.until the president steps down. They demand for him to stand down.

:01:20. > :01:28.As you can see, the place is completely empty and there is

:01:29. > :01:35.speculation over where Yanukovych is. Some say he is east of the

:01:36. > :01:43.Ukraine, in a country loyal to the president. There is nobody to

:01:44. > :01:46.confirm or deny the rumours that it is empty and calm in Kiev at the

:01:47. > :01:50.moment. We'll keep you updated on what

:01:51. > :01:54.happens as the day goes on and if you want to know more about what's

:01:55. > :01:57.been happening in Ukraine, head to the website where there's more

:01:58. > :02:00.detail on how this came about. Next, closer to home, the recent

:02:01. > :02:03.flooding in the UK has caused chaos and millions of pounds worth of

:02:04. > :02:07.damage. But rather than turning to sandbags in times of crisis, there

:02:08. > :02:10.could be a new way to build flood proof houses. In the Netherlands

:02:11. > :02:13.they've built floating, amphibious homes that adapt to the rising water

:02:14. > :02:17.levels. Take a look at this. On the inside they look like any

:02:18. > :02:20.regular house but on the outside the view tells you they're anything but.

:02:21. > :02:25.These are floating houses in the Netherlands, built on cement blocks.

:02:26. > :02:32.When the water rises, so do the houses, making them flood proof.

:02:33. > :02:38.Let's take a look around one. I am an the outskirts of Amsterdam

:02:39. > :02:44.and this is a floating community. These homes work on the basis of the

:02:45. > :02:51.Archimedes principle, the more water underneath, the more weight you can

:02:52. > :02:57.put on top. Look at the view! If we go down into the basement, life goes

:02:58. > :03:05.on below the surface. So is this something we should be doing in the

:03:06. > :03:10.UK, in areas at risk of flooding? In the UK we are looking at the

:03:11. > :03:15.possibilities but it is a nation of floating and amphibious houses.

:03:16. > :03:19.Amphibious is a house in a normal situation, and then when the flood

:03:20. > :03:21.comes, they start to become flooded houses.

:03:22. > :03:26.Like frogs, amphibious houses can live on land and on water. It does

:03:27. > :03:29.cost a bit more to build them but the idea is that spending more money

:03:30. > :03:32.making houses flood-proof, means you won't have to pay the expensive

:03:33. > :03:34.clean-up costs that flooding can cause. Housing planners from

:03:35. > :03:38.Britain, America and India have already been over to the Netherlands

:03:39. > :03:42.to check out this bouyant idea so it may be that in the future, this

:03:43. > :03:45.could be the view you wake up to in the morning.

:03:46. > :03:51.It's another big weekend of Six Nations rugby action. Today's early

:03:52. > :03:55.match, Italy against Scotland in Rome has just kicked-off, with both

:03:56. > :03:58.sides looking for their first win. And last night Wales put in a

:03:59. > :04:01.thumping 27-6 win over France. That result means Ireland are the only

:04:02. > :04:04.side unbeaten in the championship now. Centre Brian O'Driscoll will

:04:05. > :04:07.equal the world record for international caps with 139, when

:04:08. > :04:11.his side take on England at Twickenham at four this afternoon.

:04:12. > :04:23.England head coach Stuart Lancaster says the home support will count in

:04:24. > :04:27.his side's favour. Taking is an inspirational place for

:04:28. > :04:35.the players and the crowd are behind us. You walk down the corridor of

:04:36. > :04:37.supporters and it rings it home, the magnitude of the game.

:04:38. > :04:41.The Winter Olympics in Sochi draws to a close this weekend, and we now

:04:42. > :04:44.know who will have the honour of carrying Team GB's flag in

:04:45. > :04:47.tomorrow's closing ceremony. And it'll be Lizzy Yarnold - the gold

:04:48. > :04:50.medal-winning skeleton superstar will wave the Union flag and lead

:04:51. > :04:54.her team-mates out in Sunday's grand finale to the Games. Team GB's men

:04:55. > :04:57.and women curling teams will receive their Olympic medals later this

:04:58. > :05:02.afternoon. The men took Silva after they lost to Canada in the final

:05:03. > :05:06.yesterday. It wasn't quite the contest many had hoped for, as David

:05:07. > :05:18.Murdoch and his team were easily beaten 9-3. The women took bronze on

:05:19. > :05:23.Thursday. The last men's curling medal was in 1924.

:05:24. > :05:26.And could Britain bag a bobsleigh medal? We'll be a step closer to

:05:27. > :05:30.answering that question at 4:30pm today as the men start their

:05:31. > :05:33.campaign. The four man team are said to be in a confident mood after

:05:34. > :05:38.winning Silva at the European Championships last month. And its

:05:39. > :05:41.about time too, the only British bobsleigh gold medal came exactly 50

:05:42. > :05:45.years ago in Innsbruck. Last up - two giant pandas from

:05:46. > :05:48.China are on their way to Belgium where they'll be the star

:05:49. > :05:52.attractions in a zoo there. Jing Hwee, who's a boy, and How How,

:05:53. > :05:55.who's a girl, are both four years old and have been leased to the zoo

:05:56. > :05:59.in Belgium for 15 years. They'll arrive tomorrow afternoon.

:06:00. > :06:01.See you tomorrow.
