:00:19. > :00:23.It's a microbit, and one million of you across the country

:00:24. > :00:26.have being given one for free by the BBC.

:00:27. > :00:27.Martin's been finding out more about these

:00:48. > :00:49.These portable computers include built in compasses and technology

:00:50. > :00:54.that connects you to the internet. You can connect it to other places

:00:55. > :01:00.and even telephones, robots, tablets and more, to get them doing all

:01:01. > :01:06.sorts of things. This is a microbits connected to a ping-pong bat and it

:01:07. > :01:10.tells you how many keep ups you can do with the ping-pong ball. Every

:01:11. > :01:17.time I take a step on that foot it adds another one onto it like I have

:01:18. > :01:22.programmed it do. It is good. The microbit aims to be a fun and

:01:23. > :01:25.practical way to inspire you to get active and develop your skills in

:01:26. > :01:29.science, technology and engineering. Who knows? You could even lead the

:01:30. > :01:38.way to a job in the future. Joining me now is Katie, who has

:01:39. > :01:43.been doing something out of this world with a microbits. You have

:01:44. > :01:48.actually sent it into space, which is amazing. What did you do? I

:01:49. > :01:56.programmed this microbit to show an animation of a balloon, which this

:01:57. > :02:00.is connected to, going up, popping, and then it shows the temperature,

:02:01. > :02:06.is connected to, going up, popping, and it says the name of my school.

:02:07. > :02:10.Amazing. This has been up to space and back down again and you have

:02:11. > :02:13.recorded the temperature. That is fantastic. Let me show you the

:02:14. > :02:18.camera, because this is what Katie designed, and it says what

:02:19. > :02:24.temperature it is, so it is currently 17 degrees in here. What

:02:25. > :02:28.is it here? In here are two raspberry pies which are selling

:02:29. > :02:35.from two directions. One is filming out of here and it is from the

:02:36. > :02:40.microbit and the other one is taking pictures. What did you see when you

:02:41. > :02:45.got all the footage back? What did you see of space question right it

:02:46. > :02:49.is amazing. You can see the sun in some of it. That sounds brilliant!

:02:50. > :02:55.Has this got you intrigued in and science? Yes, it has got me more

:02:56. > :03:02.into coding, so I am coding a lot more. That is brilliant. What did

:03:03. > :03:07.you find out? Is it hot or cold up there? Much, much colder. That is

:03:08. > :03:11.amazing! Thank you so much for joining us. We will be hearing more

:03:12. > :03:13.from Katie later. Now, if you liked that

:03:14. > :03:15.you will love our latest We've set one year 7 class

:03:16. > :03:19.a challenge to find out if technology is taking

:03:20. > :03:34.over their lives. Let's go! We are going to spit this

:03:35. > :03:39.class into three different groups. -- split. The first group is going

:03:40. > :03:45.to be able to use technology whenever you want. The second group

:03:46. > :03:49.will only be allowed to use technology for two hours a day over

:03:50. > :04:00.the next three days. The final group won't be able to use any technology

:04:01. > :04:03.whatsoever for the next three days. It says here that using technology

:04:04. > :04:14.before bedtime can also affect your sleep. Mum! I can't join in. I miss

:04:15. > :04:21.it a lot! I don't know what to do with myself, I am just so bored. I
