:00:00. > :00:10.Hi, I'm Leah and I'm at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester

:00:11. > :00:12.United on the day the world's biggest football club sacked their

:00:13. > :00:22.manager. This is Newsround. So, fans have been turning up here

:00:23. > :00:26.all day, some happy with the news, others a bit unsure about the future

:00:27. > :00:30.of their club. What's the big deal? Managers get sacked from clubs all

:00:31. > :00:34.the time. But not at Manchester United. This is a club that believe

:00:35. > :00:39.in loyalty. The last time they sacked a manager was in 1986 and for

:00:40. > :00:43.the last 20 years, they have been the best club in the country, with

:00:44. > :00:49.fans around the world. Millions of fans. So where did it go wrong? Sir

:00:50. > :00:53.Alex Ferguson steps down after 26 years in charge. He says there is

:00:54. > :00:58.only one man for the job, David Moyes. He gets his wish and he is

:00:59. > :01:01.appointed manager, a new chapter in United's history begins. United win

:01:02. > :01:10.their first game of the season and all is going smoothly until they

:01:11. > :01:17.lose to West Brom at home. In January, they are knocked out of the

:01:18. > :01:20.FA Cup in the third round. March and fans wonder if Moyes is the right

:01:21. > :01:24.man for the job. Some go to extraordinary lengths to get their

:01:25. > :01:27.message across. This month, Bayern Munich get the better of them in the

:01:28. > :01:33.Champions League quarterfinals, their last chance of winning a

:01:34. > :01:40.trophy is gone. United then lose 2-0 to Everton. Their 11th defeat of the

:01:41. > :01:45.season. Manchester United announce that David Moyes has been sacked.

:01:46. > :01:49.So, if they do finish seventh, that will be their lowest ever finish in

:01:50. > :01:54.the Premier League. It's got lots of you talking. We sent Martin to chat

:01:55. > :01:59.to some fans at a school around the corner from the Theatre of Dreams.

:02:00. > :02:03.It was good that he's been sacked. He should have been given more time.

:02:04. > :02:09.You can understand why the pressure got too much. Some of the reactions

:02:10. > :02:14.at this school. The school is right next to Old Trafford and some of the

:02:15. > :02:18.kids that go here have supported Manchester United all their lives.

:02:19. > :02:22.United haven't sacked a manager for almost 30 years. With their worst

:02:23. > :02:27.Premier League performance ever, will the club be the force they once

:02:28. > :02:31.were again? I don't think they will get better. They need to rebuild.

:02:32. > :02:39.The time it takes to rebuild, the other teams will be better. As long

:02:40. > :02:45.as they go easy. They need a manager to tell them. Here are some of the

:02:46. > :02:51.kids' comments. It was the right decision, he was a let down to the

:02:52. > :02:57.club. He has let me and the fans down. He has not won many games. The

:02:58. > :03:02.teams feel let down. When you watch football, you like knowing there is

:03:03. > :03:09.competition. This comment was from Jonathan. "He should have been given

:03:10. > :03:14.until the end of the season." He is right. Ferguson had to build a team

:03:15. > :03:18.and so did he. This season might be one to forget. These young fans are

:03:19. > :03:23.hoping that whoever takes over full-time will get them back

:03:24. > :03:28.fighting at the top. Joining us now are some of those

:03:29. > :03:35.fans. Has the news sunk in yet? Well, I think it has for me. David

:03:36. > :03:41.Moyes has been a bit of a - not a good manager for United. I hope we

:03:42. > :03:47.can improve a lot now. You are happy today? Definitely. Thomas, who would

:03:48. > :03:54.you like to see step into this job? I would like Mourinho from Chelsea.

:03:55. > :04:04.He has had more experience at bigger clubs. OK. Interesting choice. To

:04:05. > :04:09.shed some light on that, I'm joined by Katherine Downes. What does

:04:10. > :04:14.happen next? They have given the job to Ryan Giggs at the moment. He will

:04:15. > :04:23.be very popular with the fans and with the dressing room. What happens

:04:24. > :04:27.after the season's finished? They will have to get in somebody to take

:04:28. > :04:32.over full-time, it could be Ryan Giggs or it could be Louis Van Gaal,

:04:33. > :04:37.or it could be Jurgen Klopp. Some are saying it could be Sir Alex

:04:38. > :04:42.Ferguson. Unlikely, but it would be a good story. Still some drama to

:04:43. > :04:45.come from Old Trafford before we get that final appointment? Still plenty

:04:46. > :04:51.more news to come. Thank you. That is all from me. I will be back in

:04:52. > :04:56.the studio at 6.50pm where we will have a round-up of the day's other

:04:57. > :04:59.news. In the meantime, head to the website. Bye for now.
