:00:00. > :00:07.Here's what's coming up on the show today.

:00:08. > :00:22.No More Mary and Paul as Mary quits Bake Off.

:00:23. > :00:25.First up, Prince William has given a speech this afternoon calling

:00:26. > :00:28.for more protection for elephants and an end to the illegal trade

:00:29. > :00:34.He said that poaching in Africa has reached dangerous levels over

:00:35. > :00:37.the last few years and that if it continues at this rate,

:00:38. > :00:41.elephants could become extinct within 25 years.

:00:42. > :00:44.Poaching is the illegal killing of animals like elephants

:00:45. > :00:49.These are worth a lot of money as carved ornaments.

:00:50. > :00:52.People in countries like China and Vietnam also buy

:00:53. > :00:56.them as they believe they work as medicines.

:00:57. > :00:58.He was talking ahead of a big meeting next week when leaders

:00:59. > :01:01.from around the world will be discussing how they can

:01:02. > :01:06.protect animals and stop the illegal trade in ivory.

:01:07. > :01:18.When I was born, there were 1 million elephants roaming Africa, by

:01:19. > :01:24.the time my daughter Charlotte was born last year, they have crashed to

:01:25. > :01:26.just under 150,000. When Charlotte turns 25, at this pace, the African

:01:27. > :01:29.elephant will be gone from the wild. Dame Sarah Storey is Britain's

:01:30. > :01:32.greatest ever female Paralympian. Over seven games, she's won 14 golds

:01:33. > :01:35.in swimming and cycling - including three at this summer's

:01:36. > :01:37.Paralympic Games in Rio. Here she is with answers

:01:38. > :01:50.to your questions. That first gold medal around my neck

:01:51. > :01:57.in the velodrome, I could not believe how heavy it was, it really

:01:58. > :02:04.choked me up. People ask me, are you crying Akkadian? My know

:02:05. > :02:17.nervous energy is good, I go through the processes I have practised in

:02:18. > :02:24.training, trying to think about the thing I'm trying to do, not getting

:02:25. > :02:31.distracted by anything else. I got into cycling because I went over to

:02:32. > :02:35.the Manchester Velodrome, going to a public taster session. You can do

:02:36. > :02:40.that in any of them around the country, Newport, Derby, Glasgow,

:02:41. > :02:45.Manchester, London. Go around the track. Then I got into road cycling,

:02:46. > :02:47.that really caught my heart. That is where I spend most my time now.

:02:48. > :02:49.A year ago we told you about the difficult

:02:50. > :02:51.journey Nujeen was making, fleeing war in her home country

:02:52. > :02:54.of Syria, and travelling to Germany to find safety -

:02:55. > :02:56.a journey made extra tricky because she uses a wheelchair.

:02:57. > :02:59.Now - a year on - Nujeen's talking about life in Germany

:03:00. > :03:14.It is a journey... This was her back in 2015, 16 years old, travelling

:03:15. > :03:20.from Syria. Three Europe, towards Germany. She made the journey with

:03:21. > :03:26.her big sister, but had to leave her mum and dad behind. A difficult

:03:27. > :03:30.journey, travelling by boat, waiting at borders of countries to find out

:03:31. > :03:34.whether or not she would be able to continue her journey to safety.

:03:35. > :03:39.Eventually she reached Germany where her brother was already living, and

:03:40. > :03:45.has built a new life. How do she described herself now? Just like any

:03:46. > :03:51.other person. She wakes up early, goes to school, she is a

:03:52. > :04:02.hard-working pupil, I hope. She speaks German. And she is safe, not

:04:03. > :04:06.afraid anymore. She is in safety, but thinks about the fighting going

:04:07. > :04:11.on in Syria. Comparing the country to a sick person, that she hopes

:04:12. > :04:18.will get better one day. I miss you. Don't worry, you are just really,

:04:19. > :04:27.really sick. I am sure you are going to get better. When you do, I will

:04:28. > :04:30.be right by your side. When the fighting stops, she hopes to return.

:04:31. > :04:35.Finally, Mary Berry has scone, from the Great British Bake Off,

:04:36. > :04:38.but Paul says muffin would make him leave.

:04:39. > :04:42.Sorry, my puns are taking the biscuit today!

:04:43. > :04:45.Of course I'm talking about the news that Mary Berry has said today

:04:46. > :04:48.that she is leaving the show after this series.

:04:49. > :04:50.Paul Hollywood has confirmed though that he will be staying.

:04:51. > :04:52.That's all from me, Newsround's back tomorrow with Naz.
