0:00:15 > 0:00:17Hello, welcome to Newsround, I'm Jenny.
0:00:17 > 0:00:19First - to a discovery that's out of this world.
0:00:19 > 0:00:20Literally.
0:00:20 > 0:00:21Scientists have found a record SEVEN Earth-like
0:00:21 > 0:00:23planets, orbiting one star.
0:00:23 > 0:00:25It's hugely exciting for experts, because all of them could
0:00:25 > 0:00:27have the right temperatures for water to exist -
0:00:27 > 0:00:29something that's key to supporting life.
0:00:29 > 0:00:36Here's Professor of Astrophysics, Tim O' Brien, to explain more.
0:00:36 > 0:00:37This is a model of the solar system.
0:00:37 > 0:00:44You can see the earth with the moon orbiting around us.
0:00:44 > 0:00:46The most distant planet in our solar system is Neptune,
0:00:46 > 0:00:48its 4.5 billion kilometres away.
0:00:48 > 0:00:50That's a huge distance but we've managed to scale it down
0:00:50 > 0:00:52in this model to fit underneath this ceiling.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54These new planets are orbiting a star and that's
0:00:54 > 0:00:5740 light-years away.
0:00:57 > 0:01:02Such a vast distance we couldn't possibly fit it in this room.
0:01:04 > 0:01:06In fact, it's not even in this building.
0:01:06 > 0:01:12In fact, it's not even in Cheshire.
0:01:12 > 0:01:16It would be as far away as Cardiff.
0:01:16 > 0:01:17These exo-planets, planets outside our solar system,
0:01:17 > 0:01:19orbiting their own star, or 400,000 billion kilometres away.
0:01:19 > 0:01:26The reason scientists are so excited about the discovery of these planets
0:01:26 > 0:01:30is that some of them could be earthlike, so rocky planets,
0:01:30 > 0:01:34maybe even harbouring oceans on the surface.
0:01:34 > 0:01:37That's the sort of place you might find life exists.
0:01:37 > 0:01:40We really are living in exciting times -
0:01:40 > 0:01:42where finding hundreds, thousands of these other planets
0:01:42 > 0:01:45in other solar systems and we may well at some point in the future
0:01:45 > 0:01:49find life on one of these alien planets.
0:01:49 > 0:01:50Thanks, Tim.
0:01:50 > 0:01:53Now back on Earth - winds of nearly 90 miles
0:01:53 > 0:01:55per hour have been recorded in Western Ireland, as Storm Doris
0:01:55 > 0:01:57hits the British Isles.
0:01:57 > 0:01:58These pictures are from Blackpool this morning.
0:01:58 > 0:02:01Heavy snow is expected in Scotland - and there are wind warnings
0:02:01 > 0:02:03for parts of England and Wales.
0:02:03 > 0:02:09Here's weather forecaster Simon King with what you need to know.
0:02:09 > 0:02:12Storm Doris has arrived on our shores.
0:02:12 > 0:02:14It's going to give us some pretty rough weather
0:02:14 > 0:02:16over the next day or so.
0:02:16 > 0:02:19This is the pressure chart.
0:02:19 > 0:02:21These white lines are isobars, quite close together,
0:02:21 > 0:02:23that indicates really strong wind.
0:02:23 > 0:02:25Doris is also going to give us snow.
0:02:25 > 0:02:28There is a warning out in force for parts of Scotland.
0:02:28 > 0:02:31It could see 20-30 centimetres by the end of the day.
0:02:31 > 0:02:34Making snowmen and having snowball fights later here.
0:02:34 > 0:02:37But further south, really strong winds will develop.
0:02:37 > 0:02:39Really take care.
0:02:39 > 0:02:42It will move through North Wales, into parts of England,
0:02:42 > 0:02:46the Midlands, towards East Anglia and the south-east.
0:02:46 > 0:02:50These are really strong gusts, and have the potential
0:02:50 > 0:02:53to blow over fences, bins, could cause damage.
0:02:53 > 0:02:59Definitely today, one to stay safe.
0:02:59 > 0:03:00Thanks, Simon.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03Massive congrats to Little Mix - the girls have won their
0:03:03 > 0:03:08FIRST BRIT Award...

0:03:13 > 0:03:16which was later named Best Single.
0:03:16 > 0:03:18Thank you very much!
0:03:18 > 0:03:21Honestly, we didn't know where to go because we didn't think
0:03:21 > 0:03:22we were going to get it.
0:03:22 > 0:03:25We were just sitting chin wagging. Cheers to our exes.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28This is for you, lads!

0:03:43 > 0:03:44the One Direction boys.
0:03:44 > 0:03:46History took home Best British Video -
0:03:46 > 0:03:48and Liam was there to collect the prize.
0:03:48 > 0:03:49This is amazing, thank you so much.
0:03:49 > 0:03:53I know I speak on behalf of the rest of the boys when I say we cannot
0:03:53 > 0:03:55believe we are still winning these.
0:03:55 > 0:03:57And the sheer devotion that our fans have shown online
0:03:57 > 0:03:58is absolutely amazing.
0:03:58 > 0:04:00We've been taking time out to work on solo
0:04:00 > 0:04:03material but One Direction is who we are and who
0:04:03 > 0:04:06we always will be.
0:04:06 > 0:04:07Well done, 1D.
0:04:07 > 0:04:10But the moment that's got everyone talking,
0:04:10 > 0:04:13is when one of Katy Perry's backing dancers went in the WRONG direction
0:04:13 > 0:04:15and took a bit of a tumble.
0:04:15 > 0:04:17It happened right at the end of the star's performance
0:04:17 > 0:04:19of her new single, Chained to the Rhythm.
0:04:19 > 0:04:21Oh, dear!

0:04:31 > 0:04:34eight of the Champions League, after losing narrowly to Sevilla.
0:04:34 > 0:04:37Kasper Schmeichel saved a penalty early on, but couldn't
0:04:37 > 0:04:39prevent his team going 2-0 by the hour mark.
0:04:39 > 0:04:41But Leicester rallied and Jamie Vardy made sure
