:00:12. > :00:27.And out-of-this-world news for planet hunters...

:00:28. > :00:31.per hour have been recorded in Western Ireland, as Storm Doris

:00:32. > :00:36.These pictures are from Blackpool this morning.

:00:37. > :00:39.Heavy snow is expected in Scotland - and there are wind warnings

:00:40. > :00:46.Here's weather forecaster Simon King with what you need to know.

:00:47. > :00:48.Storm Doris has arrived on our shores.

:00:49. > :00:51.It's going to give us some pretty rough weather

:00:52. > :00:54.over the next day or so. This is the pressure chart.

:00:55. > :00:57.These white lines are isobars, quite close together,

:00:58. > :01:03.that indicates really strong wind. Doris is also going to give us snow.

:01:04. > :01:08.There is a warning out in force for parts of Scotland.

:01:09. > :01:10.It could see 20-30 centimetres by the end of the day.

:01:41. > :01:43.Go online to send us your pictures and videos -

:02:38. > :02:40.History took home Best British Video -

:02:41. > :02:42.and Liam was there to collect the prize.

:02:43. > :02:48.I know I speak on behalf of the rest of the boys when I say we cannot

:02:52. > :02:55.We've been taking time out to work on solo

:02:56. > :02:57.material but One Direction is who we are and who

:02:58. > :03:03.But the moment that's got everyone talking,

:03:04. > :03:08.is when one of Katy Perry's backing dancers went in the WRONG direction

:03:09. > :03:12.It happened right at the end of the star's performance

:03:13. > :03:14.of her new single, Chained to the Rhythm.

:03:15. > :03:19.For what else happened last night - go to Newsround online

:03:20. > :03:24.Finally - to a discovery that's out of this world. Literally.

:03:25. > :03:26.Scientists have found a record SEVEN Earth-like

:03:27. > :03:32.It's hugely exciting for experts, because all of them could

:03:33. > :03:34.have the right temperatures for water to exist -

:03:35. > :03:36.something that's key to supporting life.

:03:37. > :03:38.Professor of Astrophysics, Tim O' Brien, joins me now.

:03:39. > :03:45.What's so exciting about the discovery of these new planets?

:03:46. > :03:53.I think finding seven Earth sized planets in one planetary system,

:03:54. > :03:56.some of which are actually in the habitable zone, which means the

:03:57. > :04:02.temperature could give liquid water on the surface, so the thing that

:04:03. > :04:04.immediately leads you to is that water could mean life. Really very

:04:05. > :04:17.exciting discovery. They're far 14 light-years away. The

:04:18. > :04:22.light takes eight minutes to get from the sun to us but it would take

:04:23. > :04:23.eight years to get to this start but in space terms it is in our back

:04:24. > :04:25.yard. showing space tourists visiting one

:04:26. > :04:29.of the new planets! How likely do you

:04:30. > :04:39.think this will be? These are brilliant posters that

:04:40. > :04:46.show you what it might be like in the future. The long distant future.

:04:47. > :04:52.One of the exciting projects coming up is one to send a little chip into

:04:53. > :04:58.space to the nearest star, so rather than people, if we had to send

:04:59. > :05:02.people to this start, it would take 700,000 years! But a little

:05:03. > :05:06.electronic chip with a camera, accelerated to a high-speed, it

:05:07. > :05:12.could send back pictures within our lifetime. Very exciting!

:05:13. > :05:25.We have found out how to do it. 20 years ago was the first time and now

:05:26. > :05:34.we have the technology. We were looking for dips in the light of the

:05:35. > :05:41.light of the star. That happens when they start comes around. It needs

:05:42. > :05:43.now we know there are billions of planets like this. Unbelievable.

:05:44. > :05:45.Thank you for coming in. That's all from us this morning,

:05:46. > :05:56.Newsround's back at 4.20pm. Go online for our top stories.

:05:57. > :06:00.Goodbye!
