0:00:13 > 0:00:13Hi.

0:00:13 > 0:00:14I'm Ayshah with Friday's Newsround.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17First, a group of countries are meeting right now to try

0:00:17 > 0:00:20and agree a plan to stop fighting in the country of Syria.

0:00:20 > 0:00:24Here's why.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26For seven years, people in Syria have been affected

0:00:26 > 0:00:30by a devastating war.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32Many have fled the country but some people, including children,

0:00:32 > 0:00:35are still living there.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38This week, the people who live in the region of Eastern Ghouta

0:00:38 > 0:00:43have been suffering, as their homes are hit by bombs.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Today, a group of leaders from different countries, called

0:00:45 > 0:00:49the United Nations, are meeting in New York to try and agree a deal

0:00:49 > 0:00:54to stop the fighting for 30 days.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57This would mean help can get to those who have been stuck,

0:00:57 > 0:01:00and those who have been hurt can be treated.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03Around 400,000 people live in the area, which is about

0:01:03 > 0:01:06the size of Manchester.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09In war, soldiers are only ever meant to fight other soldiers,

0:01:09 > 0:01:14and they are supposed to take great care in protecting people who aren't

0:01:14 > 0:01:15fighting, including children.

0:01:15 > 0:01:21But more than 400 people have been killed and many others are living

0:01:21 > 0:01:23underground with difficulties getting food and water.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26Lots of powerful countries have been talking about what to do,

0:01:26 > 0:01:34but so far no one has been able to agree on how to stop the war.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37There's more about what's happening in Syria online and you can also

0:01:37 > 0:01:44find help there on what to do if you're upset by the news.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Let's head to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang now.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48And Team GB's women's curling team have lost

0:01:48 > 0:01:52their semifinal in PyeongChang.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54Sweden won the game 10-5.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57But Team GB are still in the running for a medal, playing Japan tomorrow

0:01:57 > 0:02:01to compete for bronze position.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03If they win, it will take the medal tally to five,

0:02:03 > 0:02:08the best ever recorded by Great Britain at a Winter Games.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11We gave our all and the Swedish girls were on fire.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14Myself, I missed a couple of key draws and you can't

0:02:14 > 0:02:15afford to do that.

0:02:15 > 0:02:19Of course, absolutely gutted.

0:02:19 > 0:02:24I guess we have trained hard for the last four years

0:02:24 > 0:02:26to be in that position, and unfortunately today

0:02:26 > 0:02:28we were just outplayed.

0:02:28 > 0:02:29But we have still got a medal to play for,

0:02:29 > 0:02:34so we will be giving it our all tomorrow.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36Now, think Pogba's hair is cool?

0:02:36 > 0:02:39Your head teacher might disagree.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Kids at a school in Norfolk have been told they're not allowed

0:02:42 > 0:02:43to have certain hairstyles.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45The headmaster there has said extreme haircuts,

0:02:45 > 0:02:49like this one worn by Myles from Rak-Su, are unacceptable.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53He's sent a letter home to parents saying students who don't

0:02:53 > 0:02:56follow his rules could be sent home or excluded from lessons.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59Well, we wanted to know your views on this one,

0:02:59 > 0:03:03and loads of you have been commenting.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05One person thinks that having a certain hairstyle doesn't

0:03:05 > 0:03:07affect your learning, so schools should let kids

0:03:07 > 0:03:14wear their hair how the want.

0:03:24 > 0:03:27Thanks for all those comments.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30There's still time to send us your views on this one.

0:03:30 > 0:03:36Head online and let us know what you think.

0:03:36 > 0:03:38Now, I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to spring.

0:03:38 > 0:03:42But though we've all got a bit longer to wait before

0:03:42 > 0:03:44the warm weather arrives, if you're a fan of the white stuff

0:03:44 > 0:03:45you could be in luck.

0:03:45 > 0:03:50Here's BBC Weather's Simon King with more.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53If you have been shivering a little bit so far this winter, well,

0:03:53 > 0:03:56you are going to be shivering a lot more into next week.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58It's time to get back out the thermals, gloves, hats

0:03:58 > 0:04:02and scarves, because it is turning much colder for the UK.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06We've got some really cold air at the moment sitting

0:04:06 > 0:04:07across parts of Russia.

0:04:07 > 0:04:11This is Siberia and you can see by the dark blue

0:04:11 > 0:04:16that cold air is gradually moving its way towards the UK.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19It is called the "beast from the east", because we have these

0:04:19 > 0:04:22easterly winds bringing in that cold air, which means temperatures really

0:04:22 > 0:04:27dropping down for the time of year.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30Through next week, it's going to turn very cold, temperatures not

0:04:30 > 0:04:31much above freezing.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33With that, snow is likely, mainly across eastern areas,

0:04:33 > 0:04:36but through the week all of us at some point could see

0:04:36 > 0:04:37some of the white stuff.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39Bye-bye.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43That's all there's time for this afternoon.

0:04:43 > 0:04:44Have a great Friday evening.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47Newsround's back tomorrow.

0:04:47 > 0:04:54Bye!
