0:00:03 > 0:00:04Hey, guys.

0:00:04 > 0:00:07Martin here with all of Thursday morning's big stories.

0:00:07 > 0:00:08Coming up:

0:00:08 > 0:00:10The mission to save one of the world's

0:00:10 > 0:00:12largest frog species.

0:00:12 > 0:00:16And the Iceland football commentator who's just a little bit happy.

0:00:16 > 0:00:21COMMENTATOR SCREAMS IN JOY.

0:00:29 > 0:00:33First, to a big story, in more ways than one.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36The world's tallest and longest tunnel slide is opening

0:00:36 > 0:00:38in London tomorrow.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40It's been built on the Orbit sculpture at the park

0:00:40 > 0:00:42where the London 2012 Olympics took place and Ayshah's one

0:00:42 > 0:00:44of the first to have a go on it.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Since the Games finished, the site has been transformed and has hosted

0:00:47 > 0:00:50lots of other sporting events.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53But what could this huge sculpture be turned into?

0:00:53 > 0:00:55A giant slide, of course.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57We were first asked about it two years ago.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59They said, is it possible to have a slide?

0:00:59 > 0:01:02The answer is of course yes, we want to have a slide.

0:01:02 > 0:01:03How did you go about doing it?

0:01:03 > 0:01:05We had to track it out.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07We went down some other big slides and any had to

0:01:07 > 0:01:09work out how to go the right speed.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12If you add in corners, as you are pushed out into the

0:01:12 > 0:01:16corner that helps you go down a bit and so the corners are not just

0:01:16 > 0:01:19for fun, they help control the speed on the way down.

0:01:19 > 0:01:20There's only one thing for it.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22I'm going to have to slide down.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24But not for fun because I am a serious news journalist

0:01:24 > 0:01:27so I'm going to be getting you all the facts you need

0:01:27 > 0:01:30to know while I'm sliding down.

0:01:30 > 0:01:38It goes round 12 times and is taller than the Statue of Liberty.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41I'm going 15 miles an hour right now but

0:01:41 > 0:01:43it feels so much faster.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46And I can't remember any of the other facts

0:01:46 > 0:01:51because I'm going way too fast!

0:01:51 > 0:01:53Wait, it is 111 beads.

0:01:53 > 0:01:57The things I do for Newsround.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59OK, time for a quick round-up of some other

0:01:59 > 0:02:01top stories this morning.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Some of you may have had your schools turned

0:02:03 > 0:02:05into polling stations today.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07It's because of the massive vote for adults on whether the UK

0:02:07 > 0:02:10should stay in, or leave, a club of countries called

0:02:10 > 0:02:12the European Union.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14Voting ends at 10pm and we'll bring you the result

0:02:14 > 0:02:16tomorrow on Newsround.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19A plan to save one of the world's most endangered frogs has started

0:02:19 > 0:02:20in the north of England.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23Wild mountain chicken frogs have almost been wiped out by disease

0:02:23 > 0:02:28but conservationists have created a climate-controlled home

0:02:28 > 0:02:31in a shipping container at Chester Zoo and matched up pairs

0:02:31 > 0:02:34of the frogs in the hope that they'll breed.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37And an unseen map of Lord of the Rings' Middle Earth has been

0:02:37 > 0:02:41discovered after it fell out of some of creator JRR Tolkien's archives.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44It has handwritten notes from Tolkien himself

0:02:44 > 0:02:47marking where he thought additional animals, settlements

0:02:47 > 0:02:49and rivers would be.

0:02:49 > 0:02:55The map is going on display in Oxford for one day.

0:02:55 > 0:03:05Well, the group stages are finally over and there

0:03:05 > 0:03:07Of course, the best thing about it is that all three home

0:03:07 > 0:03:10nations competing in France have qualified for the last 16.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12So, before we get stuck in to the knockout stages,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14here's Naz with a look back at Wales, England

0:03:14 > 0:03:16and Northern Ireland's journey so far.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17Bale for Wales.

0:03:17 > 0:03:18In!

0:03:18 > 0:03:20Wales kick-started their Euro campaign in style with none other

0:03:20 > 0:03:23than Gareth Bale getting their first goal of the competition

0:03:23 > 0:03:24against Slovakia.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26Despite conceding, Robson-Kanu was the saviour and three points

0:03:26 > 0:03:27on the board for the Welsh.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30We should have known!

0:03:30 > 0:03:33Newsround's match-predicting cockerel Pierre already did.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36England, on the other hand, were frustrated by Russia at

0:03:36 > 0:03:38the Stade Velodrome in Marseille in their opening match.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Despite going ahead thanks to Eric Dier in the 73rd minute,

0:03:41 > 0:03:48late in stoppage time, Russia struck back with this.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50Once again, another opening match in a major tournament

0:03:50 > 0:03:54without a win for Hodgson's side.

0:03:54 > 0:03:56It wasn't the best of starts for Northern Ireland either

0:03:56 > 0:04:01with their first match in the European Championship finals

0:04:01 > 0:04:06ending in defeat as Poland got a 1-0 win in Nice.

0:04:06 > 0:04:08But in the second match in Lyon,

0:04:08 > 0:04:09their performance was quite the opposite.

0:04:09 > 0:04:14Two goals versus the Ukraine and their first-ever win in a Euro

0:04:14 > 0:04:17finals was complete.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19England and Wales' second match was a game on

0:04:19 > 0:04:23the grandest of scales and what a start it was for Wales

0:04:23 > 0:04:26and that man again.

0:04:26 > 0:04:30At the break it was 1-0 but in the second half goals from

0:04:30 > 0:04:34Vardy and Sturridge snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

0:04:34 > 0:04:35Did Pierre get that one right?

0:04:35 > 0:04:39Of course he did.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41England and Wales' final group games kicked off at the same time.

0:04:41 > 0:04:46England faced Slovakia while Wales took on Russia.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48It was Wales who impressed.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51Three goals versus Russia and it was top spot in

0:04:51 > 0:04:55the group if England couldn't get a winner.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57And sure enough, despite several chances, England

0:04:57 > 0:05:00were left frustrated.

0:05:00 > 0:05:030-0 on the night, second place for the Three Lions.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06Northern Ireland travelled to Paris for their final group match

0:05:06 > 0:05:09against world champions Germany.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12Surely not, Pierre?

0:05:12 > 0:05:15Pierre says no and he was right.

0:05:15 > 0:05:19Mario Gomez scored the game's only goal but, despite the loss,

0:05:19 > 0:05:21Northern Ireland still advanced to the last 16 as one of

0:05:21 > 0:05:24the best third place finishes.

0:05:24 > 0:05:28Bring on the knockout stages.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31Well, I'm pretty happy they've all made it through but definitely

0:05:31 > 0:05:34not as happy as this commentator for Iceland.

0:05:34 > 0:05:42COMMENTATOR SCREAMS IN JOY.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45He erupted with joy after Iceland scored a last-minute winner

0:05:45 > 0:05:50against Austria to get past the group stage.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52That's all from me.

0:05:52 > 0:05:58Newsround's back on TV this afternoon with Hayley.
