:00:24. > :00:26.We retrace the epic journey of the Queen's Baton Relay.

:00:27. > :00:29.And we meet some of the kids involved in the Commonwealth charity

:00:30. > :00:52.As if they knew where some heavy action is going to kick off with

:00:53. > :00:56.massive concerts ahead of the opening ceremony. Before that I will

:00:57. > :00:59.find out more about what the Commonwealth Games actually is.

:01:00. > :01:01.The Commonwealth Games take place every four years,

:01:02. > :01:04.with the 2014 event being held right here in Glasgow.

:01:05. > :01:07.This is a massive sporting event but only members of the Commonwealth

:01:08. > :01:12.Many years ago Britain used to control lots of countries as part of

:01:13. > :01:18.Although these countries are now independent they have chosen to

:01:19. > :01:27.It is a group of countries across the world which signs up to

:01:28. > :01:30.a set of values including democracy, law and human rights.

:01:31. > :01:35.During the opening ceremony the Games will be officially opened

:01:36. > :01:39.by the Queen, who is the head of the Commonwealth.

:01:40. > :01:42.6,500 athletes from 71 nations and territories will compete

:01:43. > :01:47.Instead of a single team representing

:01:48. > :01:50.Great Britain teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland,

:01:51. > :01:52.the Isle of Man and Jersey and Guernsey each compete separately.

:01:53. > :01:54.Between 23rd July and 3rd August thousands

:01:55. > :01:58.of people will be right here to see some of the best athletes in

:01:59. > :02:06.Unlike at the Olympics, Paralympics will be competing in sports and the

:02:07. > :02:17.same event. Between 23rd July and 3rd August

:02:20. > :02:22.some of the best athletes in The Queen launched a special that --

:02:23. > :02:39.baton. The Queen put

:02:40. > :02:40.a secret message inside the baton back in October before it

:02:41. > :02:43.left Buckingham Palace in London. And since then it's had quite

:02:44. > :02:49.a journey. One

:02:50. > :02:50.of its first destinations was India, It travelled on to loads

:02:51. > :02:57.of small island nations in the Pacific Ocean and stopped off

:02:58. > :03:01.in Australia and New Zealand too. The baton went underwater

:03:02. > :03:08.in the Seychelles. Then it went across the Atlantic,

:03:09. > :03:11.travelling from the Falkland The baton returned to the

:03:12. > :03:16.British Isles in May, And it's reached some dizzy heights,

:03:17. > :03:23.including the peak of Mount Snowdon And being parachuted into Gleneagles

:03:24. > :03:29.golf course. Well, it's the one featured

:03:30. > :03:35.in some of the Harry Potter movies. The baton is now in Glasgow

:03:36. > :03:39.and its secret message will finally be revealed

:03:40. > :03:47.during tonight's opening ceremony. Well, people are in a party mood

:03:48. > :03:50.here at Glasgow Green, in just a couple of hours a concert will

:03:51. > :03:53.take place and the opening ceremony Children have been getting involved

:03:54. > :03:59.in a special song called Let The Games Begin to raise money

:04:00. > :04:19.for the charity UNICEF and will be Take sides, the next generation is

:04:20. > :04:27.here tonight. No hesitation. We will leave nothing to fate. I am here

:04:28. > :04:33.with a couple of the lucky ones who will be singing on that stage. How

:04:34. > :04:39.do you feel right now about going up on that stage and singing? I am so

:04:40. > :04:44.excited, you have no idea. What is it like having the Games in your

:04:45. > :04:49.city? It is great. I did not expect it when the news came. What do you

:04:50. > :04:53.think it will be like when you get up on the stage? The crowd is going

:04:54. > :04:57.to be huge and we will be thinking about all the children we are going

:04:58. > :05:02.to save by raising money for them. What will it be like when the Games

:05:03. > :05:05.get underway. It will be crazy. Everyone is buzzing for the Games

:05:06. > :05:09.because where we come from is the East End of Glasgow which is in the

:05:10. > :05:13.heart of the Commonwealth Games. Why is Glasgow such a great place to

:05:14. > :05:18.host the Commonwealth? We have got all the venues and all of the nice

:05:19. > :05:22.people in Glasgow. Are there any sport you are looking forward to in

:05:23. > :05:28.particular? The gymnastics, I am going to be going to watch it. What

:05:29. > :05:35.has it been like in the build-up. We have been really busy. We were in

:05:36. > :05:41.the recording studio and we did not ever think we would be here. I your

:05:42. > :05:46.friends and family watching? Who was coming to see you? My mum and my dad

:05:47. > :05:51.and my sisters. Tell us one more time what will it be like up there.
