0:00:03 > 0:00:04Afternoon, guys.

0:00:04 > 0:00:06Leah here with Newsround live on CBBC.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08Coming up:

0:00:08 > 0:00:12It could be awkward as Mourinho returns to his former club, Chelsea.

0:00:12 > 0:00:17And since when do zombies take selfies and check their makeup?!

0:00:26 > 0:00:30First up, Turkey says it wants to play a role

0:00:30 > 0:00:33in supporting the Iraqi army

0:00:33 > 0:00:35in the coming battle over one of Iraq's biggest cities.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38Thousands of people are trying to escape from Mosul as the Iraqi

0:00:38 > 0:00:41army tries to take back control from the group that calls

0:00:41 > 0:00:43itself Islamic State.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46Charities say children and families are likely to be

0:00:46 > 0:00:47among the most affected.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51Here's what you need to know.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Iraq, a country in the Middle East.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Next to Syria.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02The second-largest city in Iraq, Mosul, is controlled

0:01:02 > 0:01:08by the extremist Islamist group that calls itself Islamic State.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13Islamic State has killed a lot of people in Iraq and Syria.

0:01:13 > 0:01:17It has also been behind deadly attacks around the world, including

0:01:17 > 0:01:19the Paris attacks in France.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22When they first started fighting, Islamic State took over

0:01:22 > 0:01:25lots of land and cities in Iraq, and the Iraqi government

0:01:25 > 0:01:28asked for help.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30A couple of years ago, some countries, including the UK

0:01:30 > 0:01:33and the US, began dropping bombs to help the Iraqi

0:01:33 > 0:01:37army fight back against Islamic State.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40It worked.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43The Iraqi army began to win back big cities,

0:01:43 > 0:01:47and they've been planning to take back Mosul for a long time.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51Now, the battle has started, with 30,000 army troops and smaller

0:01:51 > 0:01:56groups of fighters from the area.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Mosul is important because it's the last big city that

0:01:58 > 0:02:03Islamic State controls in Iraq.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06So if IS loses control of Mosul, it could be an important step

0:02:06 > 0:02:09to ending their rule over large parts of Iraq and Syria.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15But charities are worried about how the fighting will affect more

0:02:15 > 0:02:17than 500,000 children and their families in the area.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Right now, there are 500,000 children trapped inside Mosul,

0:02:22 > 0:02:26and parents have an impossible decision to make.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29Either they stay and risk being killed by bombs and bullets,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31or they try to leave.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34What we need now are safe escape routes for children

0:02:34 > 0:02:37and their families to escape from the fighting.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41Right now, at reception centres in the towns near Mosul,

0:02:41 > 0:02:45we see children arriving exhausted after two days

0:02:45 > 0:02:46walking through the desert.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49Many of these children haven't been to school for two

0:02:49 > 0:02:50years under IS rule.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52Over the past two years, many children have been

0:02:52 > 0:02:53caught up in the fighting.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56And forced to leave.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58No-one is sure how long the fighting will last for,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01but many Iraqis hope they can one day return to the place

0:03:01 > 0:03:04that they used to call home.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09And if you want to know more about what's happening in Iraq, take

0:03:09 > 0:03:10a look at our new web guide.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13And don't forget, if you're upset by this story

0:03:13 > 0:03:15or by anything in the news, there's lots of advice

0:03:15 > 0:03:19at over Newsround online.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22OK, time for a quick round-up today's big sports stories.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24In the cricket, England set Bangladesh a target of 286 to win

0:03:24 > 0:03:26the test on day four.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29Bangladesh have batted well, but England have managed

0:03:29 > 0:03:31to take eight wickets.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33It finished with Bangladesh on 253-8, which means

0:03:33 > 0:03:37they need 33 runs to win.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39One of the biggest football matches this afternoon

0:03:39 > 0:03:41involves Jose Mourinho, whose Manchester United side

0:03:41 > 0:03:42face his former team, Chelsea.

0:03:42 > 0:03:46Here's what he had to say about returning to Stamford Bridge.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49If now I go there as Man Utd manager and they decide

0:03:49 > 0:03:54to have a different approach, I will always respect that.

0:03:54 > 0:03:59But from me, what you are not going to have, ever,

0:03:59 > 0:04:06is a bad word about any one of my previous clubs.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13And this incredible zombie walk in Mexico should give you lot some

0:04:13 > 0:04:14Halloween costume inspiration.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17Thousands of people turned out for the walk which happens every

0:04:17 > 0:04:19year in the South American country.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22There were lots of ghoulish zombies on show, and of course the perfect

0:04:22 > 0:04:24chance for a selfie or two.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28But there's also an important side, too, because people use

0:04:28 > 0:04:30the event to donate rice, beans and other canned

0:04:30 > 0:04:34items to a food bank.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37Lastly have you got time for a stuck rhino, a white squirrel

0:04:37 > 0:04:38and baking hamsters?

0:04:38 > 0:04:39Of course you have!

0:04:39 > 0:04:42Here's Martin.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47So you've probably seen the more common grey squirrel, and you might

0:04:47 > 0:04:51know that red squirrels are pretty rare.

0:04:51 > 0:04:54Did you know about the rarest of them all, the white squirrel?

0:04:55 > 0:05:01According to wildlife experts there could only

0:05:01 > 0:05:03be about 25 of them in the UK.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06But this whole family have moved into a garden in Edinburgh.

0:05:06 > 0:05:08They look pretty comfortable to me.

0:05:08 > 0:05:10What did a rhino get stuck in?

0:05:10 > 0:05:11The mud?

0:05:11 > 0:05:13Nope.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16This rhino got his snout stuck in a tyre.

0:05:16 > 0:05:20We're not sure where he found it, but luckily vet

0:05:20 > 0:05:23stepped in and gave him some medicine so they could help remove

0:05:23 > 0:05:24it.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27He looks a lot less grumpy now he can eat again.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29What a remarkable rhino rescue.

0:05:29 > 0:05:33This is Bake Off.

0:05:33 > 0:05:37Hamster-style.

0:05:37 > 0:05:40Owner Beverly recreated the Great British Bake Off set for her

0:05:40 > 0:05:41hamsters.

0:05:41 > 0:05:46This isn't the first time she's done something like this.

0:05:46 > 0:05:49She's also made hamster-sized sets for her pets like a ballet studio

0:05:49 > 0:05:50and a supermarket.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52She is rumoured to be working on one of Strictly

0:05:52 > 0:05:53Come Dancing.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55Well, how about the Newsround studio, Beverly?

0:05:55 > 0:05:56That's all from me.

0:05:56 > 0:06:01Newsround's back right here tomorrow at 7.40 with Ricky.
