0:00:33 > 0:00:36In a speech to a cheering crowd he praised the army for removing
0:00:36 > 0:00:38controversial leader, President Robert Mugabe,
0:00:38 > 0:00:42peacefully earlier this week.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05They are all trying to win this very small but extremely important prize
0:01:05 > 0:01:06in a competition called The Ashes.

0:01:09 > 0:01:19Then watch this!
0:01:20 > 0:01:26The Ashes is England versus Australia and it is like 100 years
0:01:26 > 0:01:30ago they played, and Australia beat England and some Australian media
0:01:30 > 0:01:33said it was the death of English cricket and they took the bales that
0:01:33 > 0:01:37sit on the stumps and they burned them and they put the ashes in this
0:01:37 > 0:01:41tiny little urn, that is what you play for. Because of all the hype
0:01:41 > 0:01:47and the build-up and the old rivalry, two win against Australia,
0:01:47 > 0:01:50beat Australia, that's the best thing you can do as an England
0:01:50 > 0:01:55cricketer.Which England players are you looking for?Joe Root, one of
0:01:55 > 0:01:59the best batsmen in the world right now, the captain, hoping he will do
0:01:59 > 0:02:04well. Alistair Cook was the England captain and he has played the most

0:02:08 > 0:02:13Who are the Australian players to look out for?The Australians have
0:02:13 > 0:02:17two very good batsmen, David Warner and Steve Smith, the captain, they

0:02:21 > 0:02:28think will win?England, of course. Obviously.Now you know.
0:02:28 > 0:02:30OK, time for a quick round-up of some of
0:02:30 > 0:02:31the Champions League action.
0:02:31 > 0:02:34This goal in the 89th minute by Swiss side Basel meant
0:02:34 > 0:02:36Manchester United didn't get the point they needed and instead
0:02:36 > 0:02:39have to wait longer to see if they can book their place
0:02:39 > 0:02:40in the next round.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42But with a 4-0 win against FK Qarabag in Azerbaijan,
0:02:42 > 0:02:46Chelsea have secured their place in the last 16 of the tournament.
0:02:46 > 0:02:49And even though Celtic were the first to score in their match
0:02:49 > 0:02:51against Paris St-Germain, the French side ended up
0:02:51 > 0:02:56thrashing them 7-1
0:03:00 > 0:03:03Images of the Earth by night have revealed that artificial light,
0:03:03 > 0:03:05like that from street lights and houses is growing brighter
0:03:05 > 0:03:07and bigger every year.
0:03:07 > 0:03:09Scientists say that this light pollution could be
0:03:09 > 0:03:12bad news for our health and the lives of animals and plants
0:03:12 > 0:03:19as we need the darkness to rest and natural light to help us grow.
0:03:19 > 0:03:21Next, what do you do when you need to dig a really deep hole?
0:03:22 > 0:03:32You bring out the Vibrocorer of course.
0:03:32 > 0:03:37It can drill through water 6000 metres deep and can cut six metres
0:03:37 > 0:03:42down. This is the Vibrocorer, and it means business. Which is just as
0:03:42 > 0:03:46well, because the scientists are drilling deep chunks of the sea bed
0:03:46 > 0:03:50around the British Isles. Their mission is to solve the mystery of
0:03:50 > 0:03:53what happened to the ice sheet covering Britain thousands of years
0:03:53 > 0:03:59ago.We now have the tools at our disposal to actually put together a
0:03:59 > 0:04:03really, really meaningful and detailed reconstruction of the ice
0:04:03 > 0:04:06sheet extent around Britain and Ireland. We wanted to find out when
0:04:06 > 0:04:11exactly and how the last ice age ended. And this could help them
0:04:11 > 0:04:16predict what could happen to the ice sheets in the South Pole today. So
0:04:16 > 0:04:20the team are using the Vibrocorer to find clues from the sea bed. The
0:04:20 > 0:04:25giant drill is lowered down to the bottom of the sea and vibrates to
0:04:25 > 0:04:29collect along chew or core of rock and mud. It's then cut up and
0:04:29 > 0:04:35brought back to land to be studied by scientists. As soon as it is
0:04:35 > 0:04:38landed, the scientific party are desperate to get the sample, and
0:04:38 > 0:04:42they disappear into their magic laboratories. They are now testing
0:04:42 > 0:04:47the samples to find out exactly when the ice melted and why. They are
0:04:47 > 0:04:50hoping that understanding what happened in the past could help
0:04:50 > 0:04:54evict the future for ice sheets on earth today.
0:04:54 > 0:04:57That's all from me for now but join me at 0815 when I'll be
0:04:57 > 0:04:59speaking to the author of the Jamie Johnson novels!
