:00:00. > :00:10.Hi, I'm Leah with Monday's Newsround.

:00:11. > :00:13.We're starting with some bad news on the missing Malaysia Airlines plane.

:00:14. > :00:18.It's been confirmed this afternoon that flight MH370 did crash in the

:00:19. > :00:25.Southern India Ocean. The country's Prime Minister made the announcement

:00:26. > :00:28.with deep sadness and regret. The plane went missing after taking off

:00:29. > :00:31.from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia earlier this month - something which

:00:32. > :00:36.happens extremely rarely - and the search for the wreckage has been

:00:37. > :00:38.taking place ever since. For more than two weeks,

:00:39. > :00:41.investigators have been trying to find out what happened to the

:00:42. > :00:45.Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. The plane left Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia

:00:46. > :00:51.and was supposed to land in Beijing in China. But it never arrived. Its

:00:52. > :00:57.disappearance sparked a massive search operation over many thousands

:00:58. > :01:00.of miles of land and sea. Some 26 countries, including the UK, were

:01:01. > :01:03.involved in trying to find the plane. Today, the Malaysian

:01:04. > :01:07.Government said it had to conclude that the plane's last position was

:01:08. > :01:13.in the middle of the Southern Indian Ocean - miles away from where it was

:01:14. > :01:17.supposed to be flying. It is with deep sadness and regret

:01:18. > :01:20.that I must inform you that according to this new data, flight

:01:21. > :01:35.MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean.

:01:36. > :01:41.It follows a number of sightings of possible debris in the area. The

:01:42. > :01:44.plane itself has not yet been found. Malaysia Airlines told the families

:01:45. > :01:47.of the people on board what had happened and said they would

:01:48. > :01:52.continue to support them in the months ahead.

:01:53. > :01:57.Plane crashes are extremely rare. There are still many questions about

:01:58. > :02:02.what exactly happened to flight MH370. The search in the Indian

:02:03. > :02:06.Ocean will continue as investigators to try to explain why the plane's

:02:07. > :02:09.journey ended there. If you're worried or upset about

:02:10. > :02:13.anything you see on the news, there's info and advice for you on

:02:14. > :02:19.the Newsround website. Head to the home page and click on the link.

:02:20. > :02:23.Moving on, and to some new discoveries about the moon... It's

:02:24. > :02:27.something you see every evening lighting up the night sky but have

:02:28. > :02:31.you ever wondered what it's made of? Scientists have been trying to work

:02:32. > :02:34.out the make-up of the moon for a long time. They thought they'd

:02:35. > :02:37.understood it but now they're not so sure. Nel's been investigating.

:02:38. > :02:40.The Moon - when it's shining brightly you can't miss it and it's

:02:41. > :02:44.an object that has fascinated people for thousands of years. You may

:02:45. > :02:47.think the moon's just there to tell you it's time for bed. But it

:02:48. > :02:54.actually has loads of functions. The moon affects the tides in our oceans

:02:55. > :02:57.and the seasons in the year. It can also be used to measure things like

:02:58. > :03:01.time and date in a calendar. And sending a man to the moon in 1969

:03:02. > :03:07.was one of the biggest achievements of our time.

:03:08. > :03:10.By studying rocks from the moon, scientists thought they had worked

:03:11. > :03:14.out what was up there. But recently they've discovered it may have a lot

:03:15. > :03:18.less water than they thought. Researchers in America now think the

:03:19. > :03:22.moon is much drier. So what is it made of and why does it matter?

:03:23. > :03:26.Storytellers used to say it was made of cheese - well one thing for sure

:03:27. > :03:33.is that's definitely not true. I am holding a piece of moon rock, and

:03:34. > :03:40.that is not true. We used to think that there was

:03:41. > :03:44.water on the moon but it is not there in such large quantities.

:03:45. > :03:48.It's clear there's still loads to find out about the moon.

:03:49. > :03:52.There are plans to send more missions up there in the future so

:03:53. > :03:57.chances are there are loads more discoveries yet to come.

:03:58. > :04:00.Now to Kosovo in Eastern Europe where three brown bear cubs have

:04:01. > :04:04.been rescued. The one-month-old cubs - thought to be brothers and sisters

:04:05. > :04:06.- were being kept illegally inside two separate homes. Animal

:04:07. > :04:10.campaigners were tipped off when photos of the cubs were spotted on a

:04:11. > :04:13.social networking site. The trio are now being looked after at a bear

:04:14. > :04:17.sanctuary and authorities are investigating what happened to the

:04:18. > :04:22.bears' mother. Next: one for all you dog owners out

:04:23. > :04:26.there. If you're barking mad about your pet dog, barking orders at them

:04:27. > :04:32.might be the last thing you want to do. That's because researchers in

:04:33. > :04:35.France say shouting at your dog or yanking it's lead can leave it

:04:36. > :04:39.miserable. They monitored two groups of dogs and found the pets that were

:04:40. > :04:42.spoken to in a gentle manor and rewarded with treats were happier

:04:43. > :04:45.and more responsive to tasks than the group that were told off.

:04:46. > :04:49.And if you're a dog lover, head to the Newsround website to read the

:04:50. > :04:53.story of a couple that got married after their guide dogs fell in love.

:04:54. > :05:00.That's all from me, Newsround's back right here at 6.55pm.
