0:02:19 > 0:02:23And if you want to know more about the French Presidential

0:02:23 > 0:02:25election you can take a look at our guide over

0:02:27 > 0:02:31Did you know that the numbers of bees in the wild are going down,

0:02:31 > 0:02:33which is bad news because they're really important for us?

0:02:33 > 0:02:36We've been to meet two kids who bee-lieve beekeeping is really

0:02:36 > 0:02:40fun, and helps to look after our fuzzy friends.

0:02:40 > 0:02:41Hi.

0:02:41 > 0:02:42My name is Kieron.

0:02:42 > 0:02:43And I'm Ella.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45And we are junior beekeepers.

0:02:45 > 0:02:49That means we look after these.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52It's really important when you're looking after these to keep safe.

0:02:52 > 0:02:58That's why we have to wear this protective clothing.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Bees are very important to the environment.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02But the numbers have been dropping down recently.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04That is why it's very important that children like us learn how

0:03:04 > 0:03:06to look after the bees.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08Being part of beekeeping, you actually learn to look

0:03:08 > 0:03:10after the honeybee and it's really difficult for them to live

0:03:10 > 0:03:12in the wild these days.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15So it's the beekeepers who are saving the honeybees.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17It's really important to bring new young beekeepers and get them

0:03:17 > 0:03:19involved in beekeeping because they are the next

0:03:19 > 0:03:21generation of beekeeping.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25I've been a beekeeper since I was nine years old and I've

0:03:25 > 0:03:27first got into it at school.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31There is actually around 50,000 bees in the hive like this.

0:03:31 > 0:03:35As beekeepers, we need to check regularly on the hive.

0:03:35 > 0:03:41We need to give them sugar and water in the spring but in the summer

0:03:41 > 0:03:44you have to do is stop feeding them sugar and water because otherwise

0:03:44 > 0:03:47the honey one actually just be sugar and water because they haven't got

0:03:47 > 0:03:51pollen and nectar from flowers.

0:03:51 > 0:03:53Before we started looking after the bees, I hardly knew

0:03:53 > 0:03:55anything about them.

0:03:55 > 0:04:00Beekeeping is a good way for young children to learn about things.

0:04:00 > 0:04:03Beekeeping is really fun and any of you guys could get into it too.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06It's been amazing in the last five years, the junior beekeepers

0:04:06 > 0:04:11registration and the beekeepers Association has increased by 50%

0:04:11 > 0:04:14but we need to do more.

0:04:14 > 0:04:16From brilliant bees to awesome astronauts.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18This is Peggy Whitson and today she breaks the record

0:04:18 > 0:04:23for the most days spent in space by any US astronaut.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25But this isn't the first record she's broken.

0:04:25 > 0:04:32Martin's got five reasons why Peggy is amazing.

0:04:33 > 0:04:40In 2007, Peggy became the first ever woman to command the ISS.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42That's not the only record Peggy has broken.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45Her first mission was back in 2002 and she holds the record

0:04:45 > 0:04:50for the longest time spent in space by a woman.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53This is Peggy's third mission to the ISS and this time,

0:04:53 > 0:04:58when she set off on November 18th, 2016, she became the oldest

0:04:58 > 0:05:00woman to enter space.

0:05:00 > 0:05:04Peggy turned 57 in February.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06She has now completed more spacewalks than any

0:05:06 > 0:05:08other female astronaut.

0:05:08 > 0:05:13Eight so far.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15Hello, this is Peggy Whitson on-board the

0:05:15 > 0:05:17International Space Station.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20And when she steps out today, she will have spent more time

0:05:20 > 0:05:24in space than any other US astronaut, beating

0:05:24 > 0:05:30the current 534-day record held by Jeff Williams.

0:05:30 > 0:05:34Now we love pandas here at Newsround but they do having a reputation

0:05:34 > 0:05:35for being a little bit lazy.

0:05:35 > 0:05:36But not this one.

0:05:36 > 0:05:38She's a bit of an acrobat.

0:05:38 > 0:05:42This is Meng Meng who has been wowing her keepers in China

0:05:42 > 0:05:45by performing a series of energetic forward rolls in her enclosure.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48But perhaps she needs a BIT more practice,

0:05:48 > 0:05:51because at one point she accidentally rolls

0:05:51 > 0:05:52straight into a wall.

0:05:52 > 0:05:53That's all from me.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55Newsround's back at 4.20.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57Bye!

0:06:08 > 0:06:10It's Monday morning, and you're with CBBC HQ!
