:00:09. > :00:12.It's Friday 24th May, you're watching Newsround on CBBC.

:00:12. > :00:22.I'm Nel and here's what's coming up. Chaos on the runway at Britain's

:00:22. > :00:24.

:00:24. > :00:31.busiest airport. Some very clever cockroaches.

:00:31. > :00:32.Mars has a crazy stage show. The stars get excited about Radio

:00:32. > :00:36.One's Big Weekend. This is Newsround.

:00:36. > :00:38.Half term week has just started and if you're lucky you'll be one of the

:00:38. > :00:41.thousands flying away for a few days of fun.

:00:41. > :00:44.But there was chaos earlier at the country's busiest airport.

:00:44. > :00:47.A plane made an emergency landing at London's Heathrow when some people

:00:47. > :00:49.spotted flames and smoke. The British Airways flight was

:00:49. > :00:53.heading to Norway when it had to turn around.

:00:53. > :00:56.Passengers used inflatable slides to get out.

:00:56. > :01:02.All runways are now open again and BA's working out what happened, but

:01:03. > :01:06.the airport's warning of delays and cancellations.

:01:06. > :01:09.Have you ever been judged because of what you look like, the colour of

:01:09. > :01:12.your skin, or where you live? Stereotyping people like this has

:01:12. > :01:16.been in the news this week because of a row over the words "fried

:01:16. > :01:19.chicken". Top golfer Sergio Garcia said sorry

:01:19. > :01:22.for offering to take Tiger Woods for fried chicken, which Tiger thought

:01:22. > :01:24.was racist. In this case, the stereotype is that

:01:24. > :01:30.it's a food loved by black people in America.

:01:30. > :01:35.So why are some stereotypes seen as so offensive? It all started with

:01:35. > :01:38.this. Fried chicken. A comment made by Spanish golfer, Sergio Garcia

:01:38. > :01:48.about invite inviting Tiger Woods over for dinner. Tiger Woods called

:01:48. > :01:53.the comment: Garcia said he wasn't being intention Ali racist, but what

:01:53. > :01:57.he definitely did was use a stereotype. If I join your school

:01:58. > :02:01.and I've never met you before and say - you are the type of person who

:02:01. > :02:05.likes this or doesn't like that, I don't know you, that opinion is

:02:05. > :02:13.based on what you look like, that is a stereotype. You saw me, what would

:02:13. > :02:16.you think? I'm Scottish, I must love haggis, I think it's disgusting. I'm

:02:16. > :02:21.disabled which means all my friends must be disabled too. I have lots of

:02:21. > :02:27.friends, not all of them are disabled. Having a tattoo, some

:02:27. > :02:31.might think that makes me tough and scary, really I love kittens. It's

:02:31. > :02:36.really normal to make judgments on how people look or act or where

:02:36. > :02:40.they're from. Often they are not true. Not all girls like pink. Not

:02:40. > :02:47.all boys like trains. People treat me younger than my age because they

:02:47. > :02:52.know I have autism. Are a stereotypical girl? I'm no. When I

:02:52. > :02:58.was younger I played with the boys and playing Star Wars in the

:02:58. > :03:02.playground. I wasn't girlie at all. I don't even own a skirt. Sometimes

:03:02. > :03:07.labelling people like this isn't too harmful. It can be more serious and

:03:07. > :03:13.offencive and lead to bullying or, in Tiger's case, to feeling that he

:03:13. > :03:18.had been racially insulted. Next time before you judge someone on how

:03:18. > :03:21.they look, maybe think again. Don't forget, if you're being picked

:03:21. > :03:23.on or bullied there's loads of advice out there for you.

:03:23. > :03:26.Just click on the link on the Newsround website.

:03:26. > :03:29.Next, to one of the most glittering and A-List celebrity events of the

:03:29. > :03:33.year. No, not Radio One's Big Weekend -

:03:33. > :03:36.we'll head there in just a bit - but to the Cannes Film Festival in

:03:36. > :03:39.France where thieves have pulled off a second daring jewellery theft.

:03:39. > :03:42.While movie stars were at a party at the Cannes Film Festival in France

:03:42. > :03:44.last night, a diamond necklace worth nearly 1.5 million was stolen from

:03:44. > :03:47.a hotel. Last week, thieves ripped a safe

:03:47. > :03:50.packed with jewels from the wall of a hotel room.

:03:50. > :03:52.Catching a creepy crawly isn't easy, but catching one type of bug,

:03:52. > :03:55.cockroaches has just got a lot harder!

:03:55. > :03:58.Sugary traps are normally put out to catch the insects, but scientists

:03:58. > :04:00.have discovered that the clever bugs have developed a new sense of taste

:04:00. > :04:03.which means they steer clear of sweet things.

:04:03. > :04:11.Experts found some roaches now taste sweet foods as bitter ones, which

:04:11. > :04:15.they think developed as a way for the bugs to avoid danger.

:04:15. > :04:19.Thousands of fans are making their way to the party of the year in

:04:19. > :04:22.Londonderry in Northern Ireland - Radio One's Big Weekend.

:04:23. > :04:25.Little Mix, Olly Murs and Bruno Mars will all be hanging out at the three

:04:25. > :04:29.day event. If you can't make it to Derry, you

:04:29. > :04:39.can listen all weekend on Radio One. Paramore are playing the main stage

:04:39. > :04:39.

:04:39. > :04:49.on Sunday night. It will be really fun. I know Bruno Mars is playing he

:04:49. > :04:53.has a crazy stage show. I have only seen it on TV. I'm a big fan of it.
