:00:11. > :00:10.afternoon. Coming up... Thousands of Premier League playoff. And OD help
:00:11. > :00:20.kicks of Radio 1's Big Weekend. First up to Wembley Stadium, where
:00:21. > :00:23.the game with the biggest financial prize in world football is kicking
:00:24. > :00:29.off in an hour's time. It's the Championship play-off final between
:00:30. > :00:32.Derby County and QPR. The prize - a place in the Premier League.
:00:33. > :00:35.Thousands of fans will be heading to the game and QPR manager Harry
:00:36. > :00:44.Redknapp wants his team back in the top flight.
:00:45. > :00:48.It is a massive game, obviously. We want to try to get back into the
:00:49. > :00:52.Premier League, and there is an awful lot at stake. It is an
:00:53. > :00:55.important game, but it is a game of football, and we want to make sure,
:00:56. > :01:02.if we can, that we win it. This morning the Queen's baton
:01:03. > :01:05.touched down in Wales at Cardiff Airport ahead of the Commonwealth
:01:06. > :01:08.Games this summer. The baton is on a journey travelling around 71 nations
:01:09. > :01:15.and territories across the world. The BBC's Cemlyn Davies sent us this
:01:16. > :01:19.report. The baton arrived here at Cardiff
:01:20. > :01:22.airport just after 11 o'clock this morning. It was all very exciting
:01:23. > :01:28.and there was a really warm welcome for the plane carrying the baton as
:01:29. > :01:33.it landed. Water cannons created an archway for the plane as it moved
:01:34. > :01:37.into position. Of course the baton was coming from Northern Ireland. It
:01:38. > :01:41.has been touring the Commonwealth. It will stay in Wales for seven
:01:42. > :01:44.days, during which time it will be taken up to the summit of Snowdon,
:01:45. > :01:48.the highest mountain in England and Wales. Then it will be taken to
:01:49. > :01:54.England, it will go through England, up into Scotland, and its journey
:01:55. > :01:57.will end at the opening ceremony in Glasgow on the 23rd of July.
:01:58. > :02:01.Firefighters say they have managed to save the Glasgow School of Art
:02:02. > :02:04.and most of what is inside, after a blaze hit the iconic building
:02:05. > :02:07.yesterday. Dozens of firefighters fought for more than four hours to
:02:08. > :02:11.bring it under control. The school is one of Scotland's most important
:02:12. > :02:17.buildings and was where Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi studied.
:02:18. > :02:22.Sometimes things look worse than they are, so we have no idea.
:02:23. > :02:25.Everybody is safe, that is what counts. It is a beautiful building,
:02:26. > :02:29.it has not been destroyed, so onwards and upwards.
:02:30. > :02:33.Now to Thailand, in South-East Asia, where the army are still in control
:02:34. > :02:36.of running the country There have been months of protests against the
:02:37. > :02:39.government and last week the military kicked politicians out of
:02:40. > :02:40.power. The country's Prime Minister, along with dozen of other political
:02:41. > :02:54.figures, are being held. This was the moment a Japanese
:02:55. > :02:57.rocket carrying space equipment blasted off from Japan. On board is
:02:58. > :03:03.a high-resolution satellite which will scan Earth to help scientists
:03:04. > :03:14.understand more about earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters.
:03:15. > :03:18.On the Newsround website, we have been asking you what you are hoping
:03:19. > :03:29.to see from the new Doctor Who series.
:03:30. > :03:33.Thank you so much for all those comments, guys! You'll also find
:03:34. > :03:36.this next story over on the Newsround website, too. Baby
:03:37. > :03:39.Bactrian camels. They are an endangered species, with two humps,
:03:40. > :03:48.and this one lives at Blackpool zoo, because it has been rejected by its
:03:49. > :03:52.mother. She has not been named yet but this little calf is already part
:03:53. > :03:57.of the family at Blackpool zoo. When her mother rejected her, it looked
:03:58. > :04:01.like she might not survive, but staff took over caring for her, and
:04:02. > :04:07.now she is doing well. The mother did not want to persist with it, and
:04:08. > :04:12.kept kicking the calf away, so it was our turn to decide to give her
:04:13. > :04:18.artificial milk, and how is her with a severed mother. Role of the sorry
:04:19. > :04:21.but mother is really important. This little one has to learn how to
:04:22. > :04:25.behave like a camel, but for the moment, she prefers humans. She
:04:26. > :04:29.behave like a camel, but for the to be fed five times a day. Staff
:04:30. > :04:33.have to come back to feed her at 11 o'clock at night. Like all newborn
:04:34. > :04:39.babies, she has to be weighed. The real test is to see how she is
:04:40. > :04:43.doing. All is fine. As she gets older, to about three months or so,
:04:44. > :04:49.we will start introducing some solid feed, then we will wean her off the
:04:50. > :04:50.milk and moron to the solid food. Hopefully the rest is history, as
:04:51. > :04:56.they say. Bactrian Hopefully the rest is history, as
:04:57. > :05:00.endangered, less than 1000 remain in the wild. At least these little
:05:01. > :05:03.calves are doing well. Sticking with animals and a webcam
:05:04. > :05:07.has been installed at one of China's most important panda sanctuaries so
:05:08. > :05:11.fans can check out what their up to. Pandas usually sleep for up to 16
:05:12. > :05:14.hours a day, and the rest of their time mainly eating bamboo. The
:05:15. > :05:15.sanctuary breeds the endangered giant pandas in captivity and
:05:16. > :05:23.releases them into the wild. These boys have just got the party
:05:24. > :05:28.under way in Glasgow for Radio 1's Big Weekend. The festival kicked off
:05:29. > :05:32.at 1pm and thousands of fans managed to get tickets. As well as One D,
:05:33. > :05:36.there will also be performances from Pharrell Williams, Coldplay, Kings

:05:40. > :05:44.line-up! Finally, head over to the Newsround
:05:45. > :05:47.website to find out why this 75-year-old man spent 13 years
:05:48. > :05:51.crafting a boring hedge into a giant dragon. And while you're there,
:05:52. > :05:54.check out some of Newsround's other weird and wonderful stories,
:05:55. > :05:59.including the room that's painted entirely in chocolate - tasty!
