0:00:03 > 0:00:04Good morning, it's Tuesday, Ayshah here with

0:00:04 > 0:00:07the stories you need today.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09The robot fair kicking off in China.

0:00:09 > 0:00:14And stay tuned for more of these incredibly cute red pandas!

0:00:25 > 0:00:27First to the girl who is being turned into a comic hero.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Fed up of not seeing cartoon characters with disabilities,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Emily decided to take action.

0:00:31 > 0:00:35Along with ther dad, Dan, they've invented a comic strip

0:00:35 > 0:00:41called The Department of Ability and Ricky went to meet them.

0:00:41 > 0:00:42Emily is nine years old.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45She has a condition called spina bifida which makes it

0:00:45 > 0:00:48difficult to move around.

0:00:48 > 0:00:53Like loads of young kids, she loves reading, playing guitar,

0:00:53 > 0:00:58football, and basketball, and when she's not busy doing all

0:00:58 > 0:01:04that, she is also a superhero.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11Dad Dan has turned his daughter into a comic book star and it's

0:01:11 > 0:01:16in this room where the characters come to life.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24There's five characters, and the name of the comic is DOA,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27short for Department of Ability.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29And we've got our own theme tune.

0:01:29 > 0:01:34They're all disabled apart from the creator of them, the person

0:01:34 > 0:01:37who joined them all together.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40So what kind of superpowers does your character have?

0:01:40 > 0:01:45A flying wheelchair, lasers on her wheelchair.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47Emily's dad is obsessed with comics.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50Some of the characters he's created are based on other

0:01:50 > 0:01:52children with disabilities.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56Together they make up Team Strong Bones.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59The Department of Ability came to life when Emily was born, and at

0:01:59 > 0:02:02the time we just started watching television, reading comics, she was

0:02:02 > 0:02:05looking for something she could relate to, ie disabled characters.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08And when we couldn't find any, I set about designing my own group of

0:02:08 > 0:02:14superheroes with disabilities that she could read and actually enjoy.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Some shows I don't really see people in wheelchairs.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19And how does that make you feel?

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Kind of upset.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23The aim of the comic is to remind young people

0:02:23 > 0:02:26that anyone can be a superhero.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29The charity Strong Bones is publishing the very first issue of

0:02:29 > 0:02:31the comic at the start of next year.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33Go Super Emily!

0:02:37 > 0:02:39Next, scientists in the US say they've

0:02:39 > 0:02:42created a genetically modified mosquito, unable to carry malaria.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Malaria is one of the most deadly diseases on Earth

0:02:45 > 0:02:49and is passed onto humans through bites from mosquitos like these.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51It's a huge problem in countries across Asia,

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Africa and South America.

0:02:54 > 0:02:59Scientists have added a resistance gene into mosquito's DNA so that

0:02:59 > 0:03:03when the insect produces young the new mosquitoes are malaria free.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06They hope this plan will eventually wipe out the disease.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09So far the results in the lab look good but the malaria-free mosquitoes

0:03:09 > 0:03:13haven't been tested in the wild yet.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15To football, and in the Champions League Arsenal

0:03:15 > 0:03:19need a win this evening to stand any chance of staying in the competion.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22They'll have to beat Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

0:03:22 > 0:03:28And Chelsea are also in action tonight, a victory at Maccabi Tel

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Aviv would send them through.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32And in the Premier League, Sunderland got

0:03:32 > 0:03:34their first away win of the season, beating Crystal Palace 1-0.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38Jermain Defoe's late goal moved the team up a place to 3rd

0:03:38 > 0:03:40from the bottom.

0:03:40 > 0:03:41It's Sam Allardyce's second win in four games

0:03:41 > 0:03:45since taking over last month.

0:03:45 > 0:03:49A dress worn by Judy Garland in the film of The Wizard of Oz has

0:03:49 > 0:03:53sold for $1.56 million, or ?1 million, at an auction in New York.

0:03:53 > 0:03:57The blue and white gingham dress, one of 10 thought to have been made

0:03:57 > 0:04:01for the actress in her role as Dorothy in the movie, was apparently

0:04:01 > 0:04:04a bit sweaty with stains around the neck but that didn't put off the

0:04:04 > 0:04:09mysterious buyer whose name hasn't been revealed.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11And check out this couple of cuties!

0:04:11 > 0:04:13These red pandas have just made their public debut at a zoo

0:04:13 > 0:04:15in the US.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17The little creatures were born in July in New York,

0:04:17 > 0:04:19but haven't been given names yet.

0:04:19 > 0:04:23Red pandas look similar to raccoons and have a reddish-brown coat

0:04:23 > 0:04:26and a long furry tail, but unlike giant pandas they're not

0:04:26 > 0:04:28members of the bear family.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31Everyone was excited to see little guys because they're considered to

0:04:31 > 0:04:36be very vulnerable in the wild.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39The World Robot Conference has just kicked off in Beijing in China.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41The three-day event includes an exhibition and

0:04:41 > 0:04:43a robot contest for young people.

0:04:43 > 0:04:47The conference has drawn hundreds of experts and robot companies,

0:04:47 > 0:04:54it's hoped that it will encourage China to make more robots.
