:00:00. > :00:07.Hello, you're watching Newsround live on CBBC this Saturday

:00:08. > :00:12.lunchtime. I'm Jenny, and on the way: We check out the Japanese

:00:13. > :00:22.island that keeps on growing. We've got the footy story that

:00:23. > :00:23.really matters. And in Canterbury, these girls are

:00:24. > :00:32.making history. First, the Syrian government and

:00:33. > :00:35.main opposition have met in the same room, along with world leaders, at

:00:36. > :00:40.peace talks in Switzerland. The aim of the talks is to try and end

:00:41. > :00:44.Syria's three year civil war. The two sides have blamed each other for

:00:45. > :00:48.a lack of progress so far. They didn't talk directly to each other,

:00:49. > :00:52.but the short meeting is being seen as an important step forward.

:00:53. > :00:58.Next, more heavy rain is on the way this weekend. And it could cause big

:00:59. > :01:01.problems for areas already affected by the flooding. Things are really

:01:02. > :01:05.bad in Somerset in the west of England. A massive area has been

:01:06. > :01:08.underwater for the past three weeks. In this village, families are having

:01:09. > :01:11.to use boats to go anywhere. Officials are calling it a major

:01:12. > :01:14.incident, which means the council can't deal with it alone, and could

:01:15. > :01:19.call in the military for help. Next up, to the little bit of Japan

:01:20. > :01:22.that's popped up out of the sea, and just keeps growing and growing! When

:01:23. > :01:26.a volcano erupted off the coast of Japan in November it started to form

:01:27. > :01:28.a mini island and it's still not stopped.

:01:29. > :01:34.Next up, one of the Premier League's biggest

:01:35. > :01:39.when it started, scientists thought it would not last. They thought the

:01:40. > :01:44.tiny island would disappear within weeks. But they were wrong. And a

:01:45. > :01:51.month later it was three times bigger. The little island even

:01:52. > :01:57.overtook the island next door and it has become so famous, people started

:01:58. > :02:01.to think up names. One blogger has named its nippy island. You can see

:02:02. > :02:07.why. From certain angles, it looks like a certain famous cartoon

:02:08. > :02:14.character. -- Snoopy island. At least, it did. Today, 30 times the

:02:15. > :02:17.size, it is now so big that Japan is having to rethink the size of its

:02:18. > :02:21.country. And it is getting bigger all the time.

:02:22. > :02:24.Next up, one of the Premier League's biggest stars has officially swapped

:02:25. > :02:26.Chelsea for Manchester United for a club record, thought to be ?37

:02:27. > :02:30.million pounds. The Spanish midfielder Juan Matter is thought to

:02:31. > :02:35.be having his medical today, before he officially signs for the team.

:02:36. > :02:38.And tennis has a new champion. China's Li Na has won at the

:02:39. > :02:41.Australian Open for the first time. The world number four seed beat

:02:42. > :02:45.Dominika Cibulkova in straight sets in the Women's Singles final.

:02:46. > :02:50.Tomorrow, it's the Men's final. Spain's Rafa Nadal will meet

:02:51. > :02:54.Stanislas Wawrinka from Switzerland. Next to something a bit more

:02:55. > :02:57.relaxing. For the first time in its long history a girls' choir has been

:02:58. > :03:00.created for Canterbury Cathedral. Girls from the surrounding area

:03:01. > :03:03.auditioned to become members of the new choir and this evening they will

:03:04. > :03:12.give their first performance at a service in the Cathedral. Nel has

:03:13. > :03:16.been to see them in rehearsal. Canterbury has been an important

:03:17. > :03:21.race of worship for the Church of England for well over 1000 years. It

:03:22. > :03:24.is where the head of the church, the Archbishop, is based and lots of

:03:25. > :03:27.important services are held here. But the hundreds of years, it has

:03:28. > :03:34.been the boys choir that have formed in important services in the

:03:35. > :03:37.cathedral. Now it is the girl's turn. These 16 girls have been

:03:38. > :03:44.chosen to form the first-ever girls' choir. We have got to prove

:03:45. > :03:47.ourselves and prove we are just as capable as the boys. There is with

:03:48. > :03:52.pressure but I am using those nerves to build up my confidence. I am

:03:53. > :03:55.really excited, I think it is something I will remember for the

:03:56. > :03:59.rest of my life. This is a very important rehearsal ahead of their

:04:00. > :04:03.first performance. It is going to be momentous, loads of people are going

:04:04. > :04:08.to be here to hear us. It is going to be great. What was it like the

:04:09. > :04:13.first time the girls got together to practice? We knew they were going to

:04:14. > :04:17.be good, we had heard them at auditions and we knew there were

:04:18. > :04:22.good quality forces but I am old over how competently they came in.

:04:23. > :04:24.There were nerves obviously but nonetheless they really threw

:04:25. > :04:29.themselves into it and seemed to really enjoy it. This choir will now

:04:30. > :04:32.perform in the Cathedral on a regular basis. It is an important

:04:33. > :04:38.change to the history of this amazing building. It is a landmark

:04:39. > :04:42.occasion, we are taking into the formal singing of the cathedral,

:04:43. > :04:49.girls' voices. It will be lovely and everyone will be cheerful about it.

:04:50. > :04:53.I might not be an expert, but... It sounds pretty good to me!

:04:54. > :04:56.Next time you're having a relaxing stroll around your balcony on

:04:57. > :04:59.holiday, don't forget to look behind you. This Scottish couple staying in

:05:00. > :05:02.America somehow didn't notice the hairy visitor in the background.

:05:03. > :05:06.Luckily the pair and the bear were fine after their adventure. And from

:05:07. > :05:11.bear cubs... To lion cubs! And these little guys

:05:12. > :05:14.are causing a big stir at San Diego Zoo in America. The six-week-old

:05:15. > :05:19.brother and sister are doing really well, and are growing up super fast,

:05:20. > :05:22.according to staff there. The pair are now concentrating on important

:05:23. > :05:27.lion stuff, like learning to climb and jump.

:05:28. > :05:30.And if you love animal stories, there's a whole page on the

:05:31. > :05:34.Newsround website. Find out about a brand new type of dolphin and check

:05:35. > :05:37.out a mysterious beaver in Devon. But if gaming is more your thing,

:05:38. > :05:41.we've got news of a super-rare Nintendo game.

:05:42. > :05:45.That's it, I'm out of time this Saturday lunchtime. I'm back with

:05:46. > :05:50.your next Newsround update just after 2pm. Don't forget to check out
