0:00:05 > 0:00:06Good afternoon guys!
0:00:06 > 0:00:09It's Martin here.
0:00:09 > 0:00:16Coming up on Newsround: How you train a search and rescue dog.
0:00:16 > 0:00:17And...
0:00:17 > 0:00:19Leicester or Spurs?
0:00:19 > 0:00:23You tell us who you're backing in the Premier League race!
0:00:30 > 0:00:32A year ago today, the first of two powerful earthquakes struck
0:00:32 > 0:00:33Nepal in central Asia.
0:00:35 > 0:00:38Since it happened the UK has played a big part in helping people
0:00:38 > 0:00:42there rebuild their lives.
0:00:42 > 0:00:45Part of that included sending out search and rescue dogs from here,
0:00:45 > 0:00:47and I've been along to meet them.
0:00:47 > 0:00:50Nepal's capital city, Kathmandu, looked like this
0:00:50 > 0:00:53after the second earthquake hit.
0:00:53 > 0:00:58It had a magnitude of 7.8, which means it was very strong.
0:00:58 > 0:01:00Tremors were felt in nearby countries Pakistan,
0:01:00 > 0:01:02Bangladesh and India.
0:01:02 > 0:01:05Lots of buildings were reduced to rubble and lots of
0:01:05 > 0:01:06families lost their homes.
0:01:06 > 0:01:09The UK sent a huge amount of highly-trained search
0:01:09 > 0:01:12and rescue teams to help, including doctors and firefighters.
0:01:12 > 0:01:15Their jobs were to provide first aid, carry out searches,
0:01:15 > 0:01:19and stabilise buildings.
0:01:19 > 0:01:23And it wasn't just us humans doing the work.
0:01:23 > 0:01:26Specialist search dogs, like this one, also played a big part!
0:01:26 > 0:01:29I've come to this fire station in Birmingham, because this
0:01:29 > 0:01:37is where these amazing animals are trained to become rescue dogs.
0:01:37 > 0:01:42So, just how does a dog become a search and rescue dog?
0:01:42 > 0:01:47It has to have certain elements - be very focused, have a lot
0:01:47 > 0:01:51of drive, those are the main points we look for to convert a normal dog
0:01:51 > 0:01:56into a search and rescue dog.
0:01:56 > 0:02:01It's just one big game of hide and seek, where the dog goes out
0:02:01 > 0:02:03looking for somebody with a squeaky ball, or a toy,
0:02:03 > 0:02:06and once they find them they have to bark and once that happens,
0:02:06 > 0:02:10they get delivered the toy.
0:02:10 > 0:02:13In a real, live situation, when the dog finds somebody,
0:02:13 > 0:02:19it will be me that actually has the toy, who will deliver them.
0:02:19 > 0:02:22Can any dog become a search and rescue dog?
0:02:22 > 0:02:26Not really.
0:02:26 > 0:02:31I use border collies, but we have labradors,
0:02:31 > 0:02:33springer spaniels, German sheperds as well.
0:02:33 > 0:02:35So it tends to go down the route of the working breed,
0:02:35 > 0:02:39making sure we can find people and save lives.
0:02:39 > 0:02:43Right now, the UK's efforts are focused on helping the people
0:02:43 > 0:02:45who live in areas like Nepal, by building homes,
0:02:45 > 0:02:48schools and hospitals.
0:02:48 > 0:02:53Isn't it great we have dogs like these, making sure the people
0:02:53 > 0:02:57who live in the affected areas have a bright future.
0:03:01 > 0:03:03The race to be Premier League champions has
0:03:03 > 0:03:05come down to two clubs - Leicester and Tottenham.
0:03:05 > 0:03:08The Foxes lead by eight points but Spurs will be looking to close
0:03:08 > 0:03:11the gap tonight when they play West Brom.
0:03:11 > 0:03:17You've been telling us who you want to win the title.
0:03:18 > 0:03:19Who are we?
0:03:19 > 0:03:20Blue army!
0:03:20 > 0:03:21Who are we?
0:03:21 > 0:03:24Blue army!
0:03:24 > 0:03:25He came from Italy...
0:03:25 > 0:03:26To manage City!
0:03:26 > 0:03:32Ranieri!
0:03:32 > 0:03:36Come on Leicester!
0:03:36 > 0:03:38It's the Leicester boys, making all the noise,
0:03:38 > 0:03:43everywhere we go!
0:03:43 > 0:03:49Leicester City, we're top of the league!
0:03:49 > 0:03:54Come on you Spurs!
0:03:54 > 0:03:58Wherever we go, it's the Tottenham boys making all the noise!
0:03:58 > 0:04:07Come on you Spurs!
0:04:07 > 0:04:15We've got Dele Alli!
0:04:15 > 0:04:19Jamie Vardy's having a party!
0:04:19 > 0:04:25Come on Leicester, you can do it!
0:04:25 > 0:04:31Come on Leicester!
0:04:31 > 0:04:35Come on you Spurs!
0:04:38 > 0:04:40Last up - a very different kind of race.
0:04:40 > 0:04:43Racing on office chairs in Taiwan in east Asia.
0:04:43 > 0:04:45People went head-to-head to see who could get to the finish
0:04:45 > 0:04:46line quickest...
0:04:46 > 0:04:52Backwards!
0:04:52 > 0:04:56That's all from me, Newsround's back on TV tomorrow morning at 7:40.
