0:00:14 > 0:00:18It's Newsround.

0:00:25 > 0:00:26First, who doesn't like a bit of robot action on a Wednesday morning?

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Europe's biggest robotics event has been taking place in France

0:00:33 > 0:00:36and all the talk is about something called a Cobot.

0:00:36 > 0:00:40The idea behind it is that it will work with humans

0:00:40 > 0:00:42rather than replace them.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Technology reporter Rory Cellan-Jones took

0:00:45 > 0:00:47at closer look at it, at Innorobo in Paris.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51Now, these dancing robots are a lot of fun and they look like toys

0:00:51 > 0:00:53but they are pretty clever.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55There is lots of clever technology in them.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Robots are doing all sorts of things in all sorts of places.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Let's go and find out a bit more.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03This is Pepper - it is what is called

0:01:03 > 0:01:05a companion robot.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08It is already in lots of Japanese homes and businesses and it

0:01:08 > 0:01:09will be coming to Europe.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12She doesn't do much but she is going to appear in all sorts

0:01:12 > 0:01:14of shops quite soon, giving you information.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Maybe at the train station telling you when the next train is due.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20But basically, she is supposed to be a bit of fun, aren't you?

0:01:20 > 0:01:23Robots have been in factories for years but they are dangerous,

0:01:23 > 0:01:24they have to be locked away.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27They can harm people and of course they take people's jobs.

0:01:27 > 0:01:31But there is a new kind here called a collaborative robot which you can

0:01:31 > 0:01:33work together with in factories and I am about to go

0:01:33 > 0:01:35and teach one a simple job.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37We are going to teach this robot a simple task.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Get it to take this from there and Guillaume,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43show me how you train a robot. And now do I press a button?

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Yeah, on this one. That button?

0:01:45 > 0:01:48Yeah. Press that button, OK.

0:01:48 > 0:01:49That's lovely.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51You can see on the screen, that is...

0:01:51 > 0:01:53You have activated the first pitch.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55OK. Then, you just grab it again here.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57Grab it again here? Yeah.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Move it across because we are going to put it down.

0:02:00 > 0:02:01Put it down? Yeah.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Put it down there.

0:02:04 > 0:02:09So now, we will see if you did it well.

0:02:09 > 0:02:16Now we are going to see if it works. Almost good.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22I think it's worked.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27To India now, where insect poo is turning one of the country's

0:02:27 > 0:02:30best-known monuments green.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33Environmentalists say the Taj Mahal is being polluted by waste

0:02:33 > 0:02:35from the nearby Yamuna River.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38The green-black patches are leaving marks on the walls, which workers

0:02:38 > 0:02:42are scrubbing every day.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45But archaeologists say regular cleaning can damage the surface.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Scottish player Kim Little has been named BBC Women's

0:02:48 > 0:02:51Footballer of the Year 2016.

0:02:51 > 0:02:55She plays for the Seattle Reign team in the US and has played 115 times

0:02:55 > 0:02:58for Scotland, scoring 46 goals.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Now, this summer, a special anniversary will remember

0:03:02 > 0:03:05the soldiers who died during the Battle of The Somme -

0:03:05 > 0:03:08the deadliest battle of World War I.

0:03:08 > 0:03:12On 1st July, a concert will be held in Manchester to remember those

0:03:12 > 0:03:15who lost their lives and children are being asked to get involved.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19Ricky's got more.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23The Battle of the Somme, fought in northern France,

0:03:23 > 0:03:27was one of the bloodiest of World War I.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29For five months, the British and French armies clashed

0:03:29 > 0:03:32with the German-led opposition in a brutal battle.

0:03:32 > 0:03:36Almost 100 years later, young people are being asked

0:03:36 > 0:03:39to create memory squares, dedicated to those who died.

0:03:39 > 0:03:43I decided to remember the post men and women because it must have been

0:03:43 > 0:03:46so hard to have to be delivering news and stuff about how

0:03:46 > 0:03:50so many people had died.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52I decided to remember Patrick McGuire, a former

0:03:52 > 0:03:56Manchester City player, because I am quite a big

0:03:56 > 0:03:59Manchester City fan.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02I drew a door with a telegram going through it.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06He was a young man when he signed from City, around 21.

0:04:06 > 0:04:10Eventually, thousands of memory squares will be printed on to tiles

0:04:10 > 0:04:14and then placed on a special pathway here at Heaton Park in Manchester.

0:04:14 > 0:04:18It is all part of the national commemoration of the

0:04:18 > 0:04:22Battle of the Somme.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26The reason why we remember the Somme so much more

0:04:26 > 0:04:29than perhaps any other battle in the First World War,

0:04:29 > 0:04:33is because of the pals.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36You had groups of people going together, all from the same

0:04:36 > 0:04:40neighbourhood, the same town, the same sports club.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43They all went to war together and that meant that lots of them

0:04:43 > 0:04:45were killed or wounded together.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48It was a really big event and because so many people died,

0:04:48 > 0:04:51it is good to remember them and to feel proud about them

0:04:51 > 0:04:54because they fought for our country.

0:04:54 > 0:04:58Once uploaded, these memory squares will play an important part

0:04:58 > 0:05:03in commemorating the anniversary of this well-known battle.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12Next, It was back to school for Chewbacca.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15The Star Wars character took a break from filming to visit a Republic

0:05:15 > 0:05:18of Ireland primary school.

0:05:18 > 0:05:24Apparently the furry star took time out to take selfies and he even

0:05:24 > 0:05:27got his own special performance of the Star Wars theme.

0:05:27 > 0:05:30And finally, the farmer who stumbled across a pretty huge

0:05:30 > 0:05:33vegetable in Turkey.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36This mushroom - which he says weighs 8kg.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39He first thought it was a rock, but on closer inspection,

0:05:39 > 0:05:41he realised what it was.

0:05:41 > 0:05:44The mushroom is record breaking for the region, and the farmer said

0:05:44 > 0:05:47he'll probably treat all the nearby villagers to tea.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50That's all from Team Newsround this morning, we're back this afternoon

0:05:50 > 0:05:55at 4.20pm with Leah.
