0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hi, I'm Ayshah and this is Newsround.

0:00:05 > 0:00:14Coming up on the programme...

0:00:14 > 0:00:17England celebrate after beating Tonga!

0:00:17 > 0:00:21Find out what this huge drill is for.

0:00:21 > 0:00:31And we put Strictly's Gemma and Alyash to the test.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36First up rugby, and the big news that England

0:00:36 > 0:00:39are through to the final of World Cup for the

0:00:39 > 0:00:42first time since 1995.

0:00:42 > 0:00:46They made a really strong start leading by 20, but Tonga

0:00:46 > 0:00:49fought hard to close the gap with the final score

0:00:49 > 0:00:51a nail-biting 18-20.

0:00:51 > 0:00:55Man of the match Gareth Widdop said Tonga played really well.

0:00:55 > 0:01:01One of the best games I've ever played in.

0:01:01 > 0:01:05They turn up and they are passionate.

0:01:05 > 0:01:09We are off to the final.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13It was goals galore for England in their World Cup qualifier -

0:01:13 > 0:01:14four of them, in fact.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17They beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-0.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19And Steph Houghton got two of them.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22It was Mo Marley's first game in charge and she was very

0:01:22 > 0:01:24proud of her team...

0:01:24 > 0:01:26Really happy.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29We've been doing a lot of work since, obviously, I've been in post.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31We've been a bit more creative.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34And I think the opportunities that we created, I'm obviously

0:01:34 > 0:01:36really pleased with.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38You know, obviously tough opposition,

0:01:38 > 0:01:41really difficult to break down, but overall,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44really happy with the performance.

0:01:44 > 0:01:48There was only one goal in the Wales match, luckily it was on their side.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52A beautiful free kick from Hayley Ladd gave them victory

0:01:52 > 0:01:56against Kazakstan in the 84th minute.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59And in cricket, England have finished day three of the Ashes test

0:01:59 > 0:02:02against Australia just in the lead.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Two early wickets from Australia made it hard

0:02:05 > 0:02:09for England, but at the end of play England lead Australia by 7 runs

0:02:09 > 0:02:13with 8 wickets remaining.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16Next, what do you do when you need to dig a really

0:02:16 > 0:02:17deep hole?

0:02:17 > 0:02:22You bring out the Vibrocorer, of course.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26It can drill through water 6000 metres deep and can cut six metres

0:02:26 > 0:02:28down.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30This is the Vibrocorer.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33And it means business.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Which is just as well, because these scientists are

0:02:35 > 0:02:40drilling deep chunks of the sea bed around the British Isles.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42Their mission is to solve the mystery of

0:02:42 > 0:02:45what happened to the ice sheet covering Britain thousands of years

0:02:45 > 0:02:46ago.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49We've now got the tools at our disposal to actually

0:02:49 > 0:02:51put together a really, really meaningful and

0:02:51 > 0:02:56detailed reconstruction of ice sheet extent around Britain and Ireland.

0:02:56 > 0:03:01They want to find out when exactly and how the last ice age ended.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03And this could help them predict what

0:03:03 > 0:03:06will happen to the ice sheets in the South Pole today.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09So the team are using the Vibrocorerto find

0:03:09 > 0:03:12clues from the sea bed.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14The giant drill is lowered down to the bottom

0:03:14 > 0:03:17of the sea, where it vibrates to collect a long tube

0:03:17 > 0:03:19or core of rock and mud.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22It is then cut up and brought back to land to be studied

0:03:22 > 0:03:24by scientists.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26As soon as it has landed, the scientific party have

0:03:26 > 0:03:29been desperate to get to the core sample and then the scientists

0:03:29 > 0:03:32disappear into their magic laboratories.

0:03:32 > 0:03:36They are now testing the samples to find out exactly when

0:03:36 > 0:03:38the ice melted and why.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40They are hoping that by understanding what

0:03:40 > 0:03:43happened in the past could help predict the future for ice

0:03:43 > 0:03:46sheets on earth today.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48Next, we're talking Strictly.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50Gemma and Alyash came second

0:03:50 > 0:03:54on the leader board last week, so we caught up with the

0:03:54 > 0:03:56twinkle-toed two to talk tangos.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58Wow, that was a mouthful!

0:03:58 > 0:03:59Check this out...

0:03:59 > 0:04:00Hi, I'm Gemma Atkinson.

0:04:00 > 0:04:02Hi, I'm Gemma Atkinson.

0:04:02 > 0:04:03No, you're Alyash!

0:04:03 > 0:04:05I'm Alyash.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08Yes, thanks to you guys for voting, we're going through two week ten of

0:04:08 > 0:04:13Strictly Come Dancing.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15Getting through to week ten is absolutely incredible.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18Never in a million years did we think that we'd be able to,

0:04:18 > 0:04:22well, I thought I'd be able to, after the dances I've done.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25So thank you to everyone who has been voting for us.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27It really does mean a lot.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29And thank you to you for being the best dance teacher ever.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31You've made it so fun for me.

0:04:31 > 0:04:35And we're having such a good time and I don't want it to end.

0:04:35 > 0:04:42It's never going to end.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45I've learned that Alyash is very patient.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48He's so, so patient about the dance and what each

0:04:48 > 0:04:54dance represents and he's a genius when it comes to dancing.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56He's also very funny.

0:04:56 > 0:05:00He's got a very good sense of humour.

0:05:00 > 0:05:01And he's just a good egg, really.

0:05:01 > 0:05:04What I love about Gemma is that she is really passionate and

0:05:04 > 0:05:07she is great at dancing and she has got a lot

0:05:07 > 0:05:08of patience for me, as well.

0:05:08 > 0:05:10She smiles all the time.

0:05:10 > 0:05:12She tells me really funny jokes.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15Jokes all the time.

0:05:15 > 0:05:22And we're just having a great time, really.

0:05:22 > 0:05:23Samba!

0:05:23 > 0:05:26Shimmies and wiggling.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28Oh, great!

0:05:28 > 0:05:31And I can't wait to learn it because this week...

0:05:31 > 0:05:33Your choreography, I hope you didn't forget...?

0:05:33 > 0:05:35No, I've been choreographing all morning.

0:05:35 > 0:05:41I can't wait to learn it.

0:05:41 > 0:05:46That's all from me but we are back with another Newsround update

0:05:46 > 0:05:56just after one o'clock.
