:00:09. > :00:12.Surprise results in the European Elections, and what they could mean.

:00:13. > :00:18.Plus, the pricey pool that's had a pretty impressive makeover.

:00:19. > :00:27.Let's start with the results coming in from the European Elections.

:00:28. > :00:30.The headlines are that the UK Independence Party has so far

:00:31. > :00:33.won more seats than Britain's traditional big parties, something

:00:34. > :00:38.Votes are still being counted in Scotland and Northern Ireland,

:00:39. > :00:40.but UKIP's leader Nigel Farage has already described the results

:00:41. > :00:42.as "the most extraordinary in a hundred years."

:00:43. > :00:45.The BBC's Political Correspondent Chris Mason joins us now to explain

:00:46. > :01:00.A huge election across 28 countries, but let us look at the dramatic

:01:01. > :01:07.events across the UK. The map last time in 2009. Labour under Gordon

:01:08. > :01:14.Brown pinned back to the north-east. The Scottish Nationalists apart

:01:15. > :01:16.Brown pinned back to the north-east. painting Scotland yellow. Let us

:01:17. > :01:19.mark the map and the colours that was left by the 2014 European

:01:20. > :01:22.election and how dramatic changes was left by the 2014 European

:01:23. > :01:28.this. UKIP purple all over was left by the 2014 European

:01:29. > :01:32.north-west, the north-east, Scottish National Party lowland Scotland and

:01:33. > :01:39.Labour doing very well as well in London. Let us count each MEP and

:01:40. > :01:46.see how many each party is left with. UKIP now has 24 members, in

:01:47. > :01:51.second place, waiver, with 20. The Conservatives had 26 last time, they

:01:52. > :01:56.are down to 19 full top the Greens are in fourth place on the three, a

:01:57. > :02:04.good night for them. The Liberal Democrats are just down to one.

:02:05. > :02:11.Chris, how big of a deal is this for UKIP? Good morning. It is a huge

:02:12. > :02:14.deal for the UK Independence Party, because pretty much in the last

:02:15. > :02:18.couple of years they have come almost from nowhere and here they

:02:19. > :02:22.are, winning a national election, beating the big parties, the

:02:23. > :02:27.Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats. They want UKIP to

:02:28. > :02:31.take Britain out of what is known as the European Union, a club of 28

:02:32. > :02:35.countries that Britain has been a member of four a good number of

:02:36. > :02:42.years. This result makes that possibility at some stage a bit more

:02:43. > :02:46.likely. What does this mean for the UK's main political parties? It

:02:47. > :02:53.means a real head scratch this morning. What else to do about these

:02:54. > :02:59.new kids on the block, what can they learn about how UKIP have done? What

:03:00. > :03:02.does it mean for the Liberal Democrats? It was a terrible night,

:03:03. > :03:07.they lost almost all of their members of European Parliament. For

:03:08. > :03:13.the Conservatives and Labour it was very close. They just managed to

:03:14. > :03:19.meet the Conservatives, but not by much. The general election next

:03:20. > :03:25.year, it will be very close indeed. In other news, American President

:03:26. > :03:29.Barack Obama made a surprise Forces have been in the country

:03:30. > :03:33.for more than 10 years but are due Obama told soldiers that

:03:34. > :03:38.the war there could come to He's trying to agree a deal to

:03:39. > :03:42.keep a small amount of troops there to train Afghan security forces to

:03:43. > :03:55.keep the peace in future. In sport, the rivalry between Lewis

:03:56. > :04:03.Hamilton and team-mate Nico Rosberg has been hotting up. Lewis Hamilton

:04:04. > :04:06.refused to comment on their feud after the race. You'll mark what is

:04:07. > :04:17.it that is making you feel that you're upset about rings, because

:04:18. > :04:26.that is how you are coming across? Erm... It is nothing that I can go

:04:27. > :04:27.into. Is it yellow flags? There is nothing that can come good of what I

:04:28. > :04:29.would say. Finally, the semi-finalists

:04:30. > :04:32.of this year's Britain's Got Talent 18 of the final 45 are singers,

:04:33. > :04:36.while 12 are dance acts, including The boys who rapped

:04:37. > :04:40.about their experiences They will all compete

:04:41. > :04:43.in live semi-finals, with the ultimate winner taking home

:04:44. > :04:47.?250,000 and a spot at the That's all from me, Newsround's
