0:00:29 > 0:00:32whether the UK should stay in, or leave an important club

0:00:34 > 0:00:37Let's take a really quick look at what it's all about.
0:00:37 > 0:00:39The European Union in 60 seconds.
0:00:39 > 0:00:41In 1973, people dressed like this.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46And Newsround was only one-year-old.

0:00:48 > 0:00:52as the European Union, or EU.
0:00:52 > 0:00:55It's a club of 28 countries from around Europe who work together.
0:00:55 > 0:00:56This is its symbol.
0:00:56 > 0:01:01It has its own Parliament, its own anthem, and its own money,

0:01:25 > 0:01:29People who want to leave the EU say it forces too many rules on Britain.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31They say leaving will give British people more control over
0:01:31 > 0:01:35issues like immigration.
0:01:35 > 0:01:38It will be up to adults around the UK to decide what is best
0:01:38 > 0:01:39when they vote this summer.
0:01:39 > 0:01:42So, that's what the EU or European Union is.

0:02:44 > 0:02:45different colours.
0:02:45 > 0:02:47They were originally created, about ten years ago,
0:02:47 > 0:02:52by scientists who wanted to detect pollutants in the water where
0:02:52 > 0:02:54the fish's scales would glimmer if the water contained toxins.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57Now, having bred and inherited the bright colours, they're proving

0:03:21 > 0:03:24causing lots of mess.
0:03:24 > 0:03:26This is the biggest, this is unprecedented,

0:03:41 > 0:03:42It is just...
0:03:42 > 0:03:44You can't study because the noise goes constantly,
0:03:44 > 0:03:45you can't concentrate.
0:03:45 > 0:03:49It's not fun.
0:03:49 > 0:03:51Tennis now.
