:00:32. > :00:35.rules by killing more than 10,000 whales in less than 30 years.

:00:35. > :00:39.Japan says its done nothing wrong and today a big court case begins to

:00:39. > :00:45.decide who's right. Here's Leah. For centuries what else

:00:45. > :00:50.were hunted, their meat a huge Del Kasse in countries like Japan. In

:00:50. > :00:54.1986, that was all supposed to stop. Commercial whaling was officially

:00:54. > :00:58.banned around the world. It is still allowed for scientific research

:00:58. > :01:02.though. Something Australia say Japan's using as an excuse to keep

:01:02. > :01:07.the supply of whale meat coming. They are asking the International

:01:07. > :01:11.Court of Justice to stop them. want commercial whaling to stop.

:01:11. > :01:15.That includes the so-called scientific whaling programme that

:01:15. > :01:19.Japan has been carrying on for many years. Australia's particularly

:01:19. > :01:24.bothered because Japan's whaling fleet leaves every November or

:01:24. > :01:31.December for the southern ocean, right between themmed and

:01:31. > :01:34.Antarctica. The The aim?

:01:35. > :01:37.To pluck around a 1,000 minke or fin whales from the waters.

:01:38. > :01:39.Anti-whaling campaigners have tried all kinds of tactics to get Japan to

:01:39. > :01:41.stop. Japan claim the research is needed

:01:42. > :01:43.to provide information on whale populations, something they hope

:01:43. > :01:47.could help them get the commercial ban re-examined.

:01:47. > :01:50.Who's right and who's wrong? Wel,l from today the court in the

:01:50. > :01:54.Netherlands will decide. Japan hope to prove what they're

:01:54. > :01:57.doing is legal and all in the name of science.

:01:57. > :02:06.If the court disagrees, it could force them to seriously cut back on

:02:06. > :02:10.how many whales they hunt in the future.

:03:33. > :03:36.honours and with the European Championships kicking off next month

:03:36. > :03:40.she'll be hoping to add an international trophy to her record

:03:40. > :03:50.breaking number of caps. At 33, to get 126 caps, an amazing

:04:50. > :04:52.on earth. It's hoped robots like these can be

:04:52. > :04:55.used to help astronauts with their dance moves.
