:00:25. > :00:26.schools have banned them because they say they're too distracting.

:00:27. > :00:30.They're the latest in a long line of trends so Ricky's been looking into

:00:31. > :00:34.how long the fascination with them could last.

:00:35. > :00:37.Over the years, we've had hulahoops, conkers, and my favourite,

:00:38. > :00:39.the electronic, portable pet, Tamagotchi.

:00:40. > :00:45.Playground trends are nothing new in the latest one involves these

:00:46. > :00:47.tiny rubber bands, which can be made into these bracelets,

:00:48. > :00:50.They are taking over schools all over the world,

:00:51. > :00:57.I like loom bands because they make me join

:00:58. > :01:06.They reflect on how you are feeling and you can make a black or

:01:07. > :01:11.And if you're happy, you can make a white and yellow one.

:01:12. > :01:14.I like the individuality and how you can express yourself

:01:15. > :01:19.Loom bands are made with hundreds of brightly coloured rubber bands,

:01:20. > :01:21.woven together using a special board, called a loom.

:01:22. > :01:23.The kits with all the coloured bands and

:01:24. > :01:26.the loom itself cost around ?5, and each individual band costs around

:01:27. > :01:33.Not everyone thinks they are a good idea.

:01:34. > :01:34.Some schools have actually banned them.

:01:35. > :01:39.Yeah, I can see why some schools have banned them, but we control it.

:01:40. > :01:42.The kids now they're not allowed them during lesson times.

:01:43. > :01:43.As soon as it disrupted their learning and

:01:44. > :01:46.teaching, it wouldn't necessarily be banned, but the children would be

:01:47. > :01:50.talked to about them and they would be told to leave them at home.

:01:51. > :01:59.In a world where we spend so much time using technology,

:02:00. > :02:13.If anyone had a special card, they would see there is something special

:02:14. > :02:16.about themselves. With any trend, there is a potential for causing

:02:17. > :02:21.things like bullying, but if we talk about any positive way, we can see

:02:22. > :02:23.whether it is a piece of card or a rubber band, it is just a bit of

:02:24. > :02:24.fun. In a world where we spend

:02:25. > :02:27.so much time using technology, there is a lot of praise for these

:02:28. > :02:30.loom band for bringing craft back But as with most trends,

:02:31. > :02:34.how long until these loom bands I bet someone somewhere is

:02:35. > :02:38.thinking of the new big thing. And you've been telling us what you

:02:39. > :02:45.think of loom bands Class 5B in Bristol say they're a

:02:46. > :02:50.great way to keep kids occupied instead of spending loads of time on

:02:51. > :03:06.computers. Next, to a sports day with a big

:03:13. > :03:14.hundreds of school kids have been competing in their own mini-version

:04:10. > :04:21.Scotland! We have got to do new sports we haven't done before. It

:04:22. > :04:29.teaches us important things. We like Scotland. It is important to involve

:04:30. > :04:36.children in sport. You don't know what you can do unless you try. I

:04:37. > :04:45.was rubbish at that went on but I kept doing it and did not give up.

:04:46. > :04:48.Sport is fun, and as you can see everyone here is having a good time.
