0:00:03 > 0:00:04Good afternoon!

0:00:04 > 0:00:06I'm Jenny, this is Newsround, and get ready for

0:00:06 > 0:00:09a Harry Potter-tastic bulletin.

0:00:09 > 0:00:14Coming up, we reveal which animal you voted to take to Hogwarts.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16And keep it Newsround for some daring dives.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29First, it's time to don your wizarding cape, grab a broomstick

0:00:29 > 0:00:31and get out your wand, because today,

0:00:31 > 0:00:35Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone turns 20 years old.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38To celebrate, we've been asking you to decide which animal you'd

0:00:38 > 0:00:42take with you to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44You had to chose between a sloth, dolphin, bat,

0:00:44 > 0:00:47gecko, dog and hamster.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51And now, we can officially reveal that...

0:00:51 > 0:00:53the dog has won!

0:00:53 > 0:00:56More than a third of you would take a canine companion!

0:00:56 > 0:01:01Bats came second, closely followed by geckos.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03The books have been translated into more than 60 languages,

0:01:03 > 0:01:07selling more than 400 million copies around the world, but what is it

0:01:07 > 0:01:10about the magical world of Harry, Ron and Hermione

0:01:10 > 0:01:13that makes them so popular?

0:01:13 > 0:01:17We spoke to some fans about how Harry helped them. Watch this.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21I love Harry Potter because it's just an amazing story.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23It's an amazing, spellbinding adventure.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26It's just one of those things that when you are feeling sad,

0:01:26 > 0:01:29just pick up Harry Potter and you get taken away

0:01:29 > 0:01:30to a different world.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34If I'm down, just pick up the book and, like, my mind goes

0:01:34 > 0:01:37into Hogwarts and everything.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40I moved earlier this year and I think it helped me

0:01:40 > 0:01:42with the transition I made, because it's a transition

0:01:42 > 0:01:46he made when he went from growing up with muggles

0:01:46 > 0:01:49to going to a wizarding school.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53Harry Potter has helped me in my own life, because I find it

0:01:53 > 0:01:56really easy to link with other people who enjoy Harry Potter,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59and that has helped me make so many new friends.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Recently, I had to deal with the death of my grandad,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04and I found that really upsetting.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07But then I looked back at Harry Potter and he's such

0:02:07 > 0:02:09a courageous character I just looked back at the quotes,

0:02:09 > 0:02:13like for example, "Happiness can be found even in the darkest places,"

0:02:13 > 0:02:16and that just really made me carry on.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20ALL: Harry Potter!

0:02:20 > 0:02:21Thanks, guys.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24And did you know that a lot of the ideas for the books came

0:02:24 > 0:02:26from real places here in the UK?

0:02:26 > 0:02:29I bring you our top five.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33The first stop on our Harry Potter tour is a little cafe in the heart

0:02:33 > 0:02:36of Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39This is the place where JK Rowling used to come to write

0:02:39 > 0:02:40the Harry Potter books.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42She would sit in this exact seat.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Now people come from around the world to visit it.

0:02:45 > 0:02:49And if you look out of the window from this spot, there is one pretty

0:02:49 > 0:02:56big clue about where the idea for her wizarding school came from.

0:02:56 > 0:02:57Our second landmark, Edinburgh Castle,

0:02:57 > 0:03:00the inspiration for Hogwarts.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03"Perched atop a high mountain, its windows sparkling in the starry

0:03:03 > 0:03:08sky, was a vast castle with many turrets and towers."

0:03:08 > 0:03:12Yup, pretty accurate.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Yes, a graveyard!

0:03:16 > 0:03:19The books are packed full of characters with unusual names -

0:03:19 > 0:03:22Sirius Black, Albus Dumbledore, Narcissa Malfoy.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25Some of them, she got from the names of flowers, stars,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27or Latin, which she studied.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31Others, she got from places like this.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39Potter fans will recognise this is the first place where we really

0:03:39 > 0:03:42get an idea of what Harry can do.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59Where our journey comes to an end, but where Harry's really begins.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02Not only does he meet his best friend Ron here, but it's also

0:04:02 > 0:04:04the spot where he takes the Hogwarts Express

0:04:04 > 0:04:07for the very first time.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24I wonder if I can get there too?

0:04:29 > 0:04:31Next, to a very extreme diving competition

0:04:31 > 0:04:33that's taken place in Ireland.

0:04:33 > 0:04:35Around 20 daredevil divers got involved, jumping from nearly

0:04:35 > 0:04:36three times the height of an Olympic board.

0:04:36 > 0:04:40They landed in a pool of water known as the Serpent's Lair,

0:04:40 > 0:04:42which is just off the west coast of Ireland.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44British diver Gary Hunt won the men's competition.

0:04:44 > 0:04:46Amazing! But don't try this yourself.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49Get online for more of that, and we've also got five top facts

0:04:49 > 0:04:55on the UK's biggest-ever warship, being tested at sea today.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57Well, that's all your Pottertastic news, my muggle friends,

0:04:57 > 0:04:59we're back tomorrow morning. Bye, now.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06Hi, guys, we've important news for you today. So important.
