:00:54. > :00:57.much. Driving is one of the biggest causes
:00:58. > :01:01.of air pollution. The government have said enough is enough. We do
:01:02. > :01:04.not need to stop driving in order to stop the problem. Instead, the
:01:05. > :01:10.government say we need to replace ordinary cars with these. OK, so
:01:11. > :01:13.they look like any other ordinary car from the outside, but take a
:01:14. > :01:20.closer look because he was the difference. These cars run on
:01:21. > :01:25.electricity instead of fuel, so rather than filling up to petrol
:01:26. > :01:30.station, you plug it in to recharge, meaning that they don't give off the
:01:31. > :01:34.same harmful gases. Some people already choose to buy electric cars,
:01:35. > :01:37.now the government says that from 2040 they will not have a choice.
:01:38. > :01:42.All new cars will have to be electric. It will be another 23
:01:43. > :01:46.years before the rules coming, and some people say that is not soon
:01:47. > :01:48.enough. More needs to be done to improve the air we breathe.
:01:49. > :01:51.Lots of people all over the UK live in tower blocks like these.
:01:52. > :01:53.But since the massive fire at Grenfell Tower in London
:01:54. > :01:56.five weeks ago there have been concerns about how safe
:01:57. > :02:15.I went to meet Shania, who lives in a tower block in London.

:02:23. > :02:28.here for? Just a year.
:02:29. > :02:33.What a view! This is incredible. What is it like living here and
:02:34. > :02:40.having this view? I love it.
:02:41. > :02:45.After a long day at school, Shania is home and showing me around her
:02:46. > :02:53.flat in South London. Who lives here? My mum. I have lived
:02:54. > :03:03.here for a year, and I enjoy it. I like the view, I like my bedroom,
:03:04. > :03:07.and it has got a roof garden. Since last month's fire at Grenfell
:03:08. > :03:10.Tower, people who look after other tower blocks around the country have
:03:11. > :03:14.been working to make sure buildings are safe in the future. And to make
:03:15. > :03:19.sure a tragedy like that never happens again. What was it like when
:03:20. > :03:25.the fire happened at Grenfell Tower? Did you see anything?
:03:26. > :03:37.I could see the smoke. It was shocking.
:03:38. > :03:42.One of the big things that we talked about the Grenfell Tower fire, is
:03:43. > :03:46.this stuff, cladding. It is wrapped around buildings to protect them
:03:47. > :03:50.from the weather and also to change at our's appearance. Some experts
:03:51. > :03:59.have said the type of cladding used could have had a part of making the
:04:00. > :04:04.fire at Grenfell Tower much worse. The building that Shania lives in
:04:05. > :04:09.has the same type of cladding, the company that owns it has told
:04:10. > :04:12.Newsround it is going to be taken off and replaced. They say the fire
:04:13. > :04:16.brigade have checked the building and say it is safe to live in right
:04:17. > :04:21.now because of all the other safety features including sprinklers and
:04:22. > :04:28.smoke alarms in every room. They test the fire alarms often. We
:04:29. > :04:34.have been given a lot of advice. We have got sprinklers everywhere. We
:04:35. > :04:38.have been told that we are safer. There is nothing for us to worry
:04:39. > :04:43.about. Shania And her mum have seen and
:04:44. > :04:46.heard a lot about tyre blocks -- tower blocks since the fire at
:04:47. > :04:50.Grenfell Tower. Many people who live in tower blocks with cladding won't
:04:51. > :04:56.cancel to do a lot to keep them safe. But Shania and her mum say
:04:57. > :04:56.they are perfectly happy living here.
