:00:28. > :00:30.Politicians are expected to vote on whether Britain will be involved

:00:31. > :00:36.IS has taken over large parts of Iraq and Syria

:00:37. > :00:40.and wants to create a new country with strict Islamic rules.

:00:41. > :00:45.America has already carried out some targeted air strikes on IS and

:00:46. > :00:48.US President Barack Obama has asked other countries to work together to

:00:49. > :00:57.David Cameron has said the UK can't stay out of the fight.

:00:58. > :01:00.Here you've got Isis which is a terrorist organisation

:01:01. > :01:04.It has oil, it has money, it has territory and weapons and there is

:01:05. > :01:07.no doubt in my mind it has already undertaken and is planning further

:01:08. > :01:15.This is a fight you cannot opt out of.

:01:16. > :01:17.Britain's joining many other countries in ongoing talks

:01:18. > :01:20.We asked BBC security correspondent Gordon Corera to answer some

:01:21. > :01:26.questions about what this means for people in the UK.

:01:27. > :01:29.The UK government says it wants to get involved in military action

:01:30. > :01:33.against a group calling itself IS or Islamic State because it views it

:01:34. > :01:38.as a threat, not just in Iraq and Syria but perhaps around the world.

:01:39. > :01:43.The United States has already been attacking the Islamic State

:01:44. > :01:46.and bombing it from the air in Iraq and now in Syria.

:01:47. > :01:49.And Britain now wants to get involved in that military action

:01:50. > :01:55.as well although perhaps in a slightly different way.

:01:56. > :01:58.The plan at the moment is not for British troops to go

:01:59. > :02:06.But for British warplanes to drop bombs specifically on Iraq.

:02:07. > :02:10.The plan is not to put a large amount of soldiers into Iraq

:02:11. > :02:14.or Syria, like what happened in Afghanistan but simply to carry

:02:15. > :02:24.There have been concerns that the danger here

:02:25. > :02:27.in the UK has increased somewhat in the last few weeks and months.

:02:28. > :02:31.From this group trying to do something.

:02:32. > :02:41.The chances of any individual being caught up remains very low indeed.
