:00:00. > :00:08.Hi, I'm Leah with another Newsround update. Coming up, the frogs that
:00:09. > :00:21.glow in the dark, and Jay Z and Beyonce rock the house at the
:00:22. > :00:26.Grammys. Now to the peace talks that are trying to bring an end to
:00:27. > :00:29.Syria's three-year civil war which has killed over 100,000 people. The
:00:30. > :00:32.Syrian government has agreed to allow women and children to leave
:00:33. > :00:36.the city of Homs, which has been gripped by heavy fighting for many
:00:37. > :00:39.months. It will also allow aid trucks to enter the city. The talks
:00:40. > :00:41.have been taking place in Switzerland, between Syrian
:00:42. > :00:46.president Assad's government and those who want them out of power.
:00:47. > :00:50.Today, people in the UK will remember the six million Jews and
:00:51. > :00:53.other people killed by the German Nazi party during the Second World
:00:54. > :00:56.War. Services are taking place all round the country as part of
:00:57. > :01:00.National Holocaust Memorial Day. I've been looking at what it means.
:01:01. > :01:05.It is never easy to think about what happened during World War II.
:01:06. > :01:09.Germany's leader, Adolf Hitler, thought Jews and other people from
:01:10. > :01:13.certain religions and groups were inferior and planned horrific ways
:01:14. > :01:18.to get rid of them. In what became known as the Holocaust, he had
:01:19. > :01:23.millions of people sent to special prisons called concentration camps.
:01:24. > :01:26.Families were split up, there was little food, extremely hard physical
:01:27. > :01:32.work and many people were killed there. It is estimated barely seven
:01:33. > :01:39.out of ten Jews from all across Europe died. Today is a mark of
:01:40. > :01:42.respect for all victims of the Holocaust, as well as victims of
:01:43. > :01:47.other mass killings around the world. It helps teach us about these
:01:48. > :01:54.terrible events and make sure they are not forgotten. But thousands of
:01:55. > :01:58.children did manage to escape Hitler's Nazi Germany and were sent
:01:59. > :02:04.to the UK for safety. They said goodbye to their families and were
:02:05. > :02:07.put on special trains, known as Kindertransport. And now two
:02:08. > :02:15.survivors of the Holocaust have come to this school in South Lanarkshire
:02:16. > :02:24.to tell their story. We were put on the train about our parents. We came
:02:25. > :02:29.to this country as refugees. Henry and Ingrid were two of the children
:02:30. > :02:33.lucky enough to escape. Do send your child on a train to a foreign
:02:34. > :02:37.country, there is no idea if the child will get there. It's a
:02:38. > :02:43.traumatic and courageous decision to take, but many of us survived. We
:02:44. > :02:48.were the lucky ones. Unfortunately, I lost quite a lot of relations in
:02:49. > :02:51.the camps. When Henry and Ingrid were children they had to leave
:02:52. > :02:55.everything they knew behind because life in Germany for them was too
:02:56. > :03:00.dangerous. They arrived in the UK and settled into life here. Over 70
:03:01. > :03:04.years later, they feel their story is an important one for children to
:03:05. > :03:11.hear about. It was really eye opening. Quite emotional, when you
:03:12. > :03:15.saw how important this was to them and how they thought it was
:03:16. > :03:20.important to spread the message. It was really interesting to see what
:03:21. > :03:24.really happened. Not what the historians say or anything from
:03:25. > :03:28.books. It was real life and real people. Henry and Ingrid think it is
:03:29. > :03:31.important for people to learn about the past to help stop terrible
:03:32. > :03:40.things like the Holocaust happening again. Back in the UK, and there's
:03:41. > :03:44.been more heavy rain in parts of South West England already badly hit
:03:45. > :03:47.by flooding. Somerset has been badly affected, the council there has
:03:48. > :03:50.declare a major incident There are 14 flood warnings in place across
:03:51. > :03:59.England and Wales and snow is also expected in part of the UK today.
:04:00. > :04:03.Music superstars from around the globe were hoping to grab a Grammy
:04:04. > :04:17.last night. Beyonce and Jay Z open the awards, where Daft Punk were the
:04:18. > :04:26.big winners. Lorde picked up the winner for single of the year. In
:04:27. > :04:32.the FA Cup, Chelsea beat Stoke 1-0 to win a tie away to Man City in the
:04:33. > :04:34.next round. The only goal of the game came from Brazilian midfielder
:04:35. > :04:38.Oscar with an incredible free-kick in the first half, to put Jose
:04:39. > :04:42.Mourinho's side into the last 16 - it was also Jose's birthday! Now to
:04:43. > :04:45.the frogs that glow! Take a look at these amazing pictures.
:04:46. > :04:48.Conservationists at Chester Zoo have come up with a way to keep an eye on
:04:49. > :04:55.critically endangered frogs all by injecting them with harmless strips
:04:56. > :04:59.of fluorescent silicon. It means conservationists can now track their
:05:00. > :05:01.whereabouts. Head to the website for our top stories.
