:00:00. > :00:08.Good afternoon. I'm Ricky, and on today's Newsround: More parts of the

:00:09. > :00:11.country are under water as the rain just keeps on coming.

:00:12. > :00:12.And the glow-in-the-dark technique that could help protect the world's

:00:13. > :00:23.most endangered frogs. Stay tuned. First then, floods continue to cause

:00:24. > :00:27.massive problems in parts of the UK, and for some people, the nightmare

:00:28. > :00:29.is just getting worse. 14 flood warnings are in place throughout

:00:30. > :00:37.England, which means flooding is expected. The area worst hit is

:00:38. > :00:40.south-west England. It's particularly bad for people in the

:00:41. > :00:43.county of Somerset, where huge amounts of water are having to be

:00:44. > :00:47.pumped off the land and into rivers to drain away. Many people there are

:00:48. > :00:51.still coming to terms with the flooding at the start of the year,

:00:52. > :00:53.and more rain is forecast over the coming days.

:00:54. > :00:57.We want to hear if you've been affected by the flooding. Have you

:00:58. > :01:00.had trouble getting to and from school, or are there flood waters

:01:01. > :01:02.near your house? Head online and let us know.

:01:03. > :01:05.Next, services have taken place across the world today as part of

:01:06. > :01:08.National Holocaust Memorial Day. It's to remember the six million

:01:09. > :01:12.Jews and other people killed by the German Nazi party during the Second

:01:13. > :01:18.World War, over 70 years ago. Ayshah's been finding out what it

:01:19. > :01:22.all means. It's never easy to think about the

:01:23. > :01:25.events of World War Two, but it is important to understand what

:01:26. > :01:28.happened and make sure it is never forgotten. During the war, Germany

:01:29. > :01:31.was ruled by the Nazis, a racist government led by Adolf Hitler. He

:01:32. > :01:36.believed people from certain religions or races were inferior and

:01:37. > :01:39.wanted to get rid of them. In what has become known as the Holocaust,

:01:40. > :01:44.he had millions of people sent to special prisons called concentration

:01:45. > :01:47.camps. Families were split up, there was little food, extremely hard,

:01:48. > :01:53.physical work, and many, many people were killed there. It's estimated

:01:54. > :01:59.seven out of ten Jews from across Europe died. But thousands of

:02:00. > :02:12.children did manage to escape Nazi Germany and were sent to the UK for

:02:13. > :02:15.safety. Today is a mark of respect for all victims of the Holocaust, as

:02:16. > :02:18.well as victims of other mass killings around the world. Here at

:02:19. > :02:23.the Imperial War Museum North, they're running special events for

:02:24. > :02:25.Holocaust Memorial Day. Learning about terrible things that happened

:02:26. > :02:31.in history, like the Holocaust, helps us to try to prevent them from

:02:32. > :02:35.happening again. Well, let's speak to someone who can

:02:36. > :02:39.tell us a bit more about this. With me now is Jack. He works with the

:02:40. > :02:41.Holocaust Education Trust and teaches kids about what happened.

:02:42. > :02:49.Jack, welcome to Newsround. Thanks for coming in. Why is it important

:02:50. > :02:54.to remember the holocaust nowadays? Well, it was always stressed to me,

:02:55. > :03:00.from a young age, how important the Holocaust was. At our trust, we

:03:01. > :03:06.believe we have to give the 6 million Jews their humanity back. I

:03:07. > :03:10.learning about the Holocaust, we can help to prevent such atrocities in

:03:11. > :03:14.the future. When we see pictures like this, it is hard to imagine

:03:15. > :03:20.things like this could happen. You have a personal connection to this.

:03:21. > :03:25.Your grandad managed to escape. What was his story? He was able to come

:03:26. > :03:31.over from his home in the Czech Republic when he was 10-year sold.

:03:32. > :03:36.He couldn't speak any English. Unfortunately, his mother and two

:03:37. > :03:42.sisters were not as lucky. How do children react to these kind of

:03:43. > :03:47.stories? Whilst Holocaust education is becoming more and more broad,

:03:48. > :03:52.children especially don't know as much about it. By listening to

:03:53. > :03:54.survivors, they will. Thank you for coming in.

:03:55. > :03:57.And if you want to know more, there's plenty of information over

:03:58. > :04:01.on our website about this, as well as help and advice if there's

:04:02. > :04:03.anything in the news that upsets you.

:04:04. > :04:07.Next to outer space, where China's moon rover, Yutu, has hit a spot of

:04:08. > :04:09.trouble. Jade Rabbit, as it's also known, has experienced mechanical

:04:10. > :04:12.problems. The rover arrived on the moon's surface in December and was

:04:13. > :04:16.expected to operate for three months, to carry out experiments on

:04:17. > :04:19.the moon's soil. Now the Chinese space agency are having to organise

:04:20. > :04:21.repairs - from back here on Earth! Now, time for some glow-in-the-dark

:04:22. > :04:25.frogs. Check this out. Conservationists at Chester Zoo have

:04:26. > :04:28.come up with a way to keep an eye on critically-endangered frogs by

:04:29. > :04:31.injecting them with a harmless fluorescent substance, making them

:04:32. > :04:35.glow. Experts say they hope the tracking technique can be used to

:04:36. > :04:38.help species that are most at risk. Last up - fancy wading through

:04:39. > :04:43.freezing muddy water before crawling under barbed wire? No? Me neither.

:04:44. > :04:46.But some people love it. The weekend saw the annual Tough Guy race in the

:04:47. > :04:49.West Midlands, where thousands of competitors had to scramble their

:04:50. > :04:54.way around 200 obstacles. Head to the website to see a gallery of how

:04:55. > :04:58.they got on! That's all we've got time for. We

:04:59. > :05:00.are back later on this evening. See you then.
